What am I in for?Note: I only shot a glock 19 and a RIA VR80
dunno
>>64264802Fun if youre cool, shit if youre a fag
>>64264820Ok
>>64264802I have bought three different Colt Govt. 1911s and ended up selling all of them within 1000rds or less due to problems.Colt is good for a base gun for the rollmark and that is about it.If you are looking for an actual shooter, the lowest I would go is a Springfield operator, TRP, or a Dan Wesson.Ideally I'd skip all of them and get a Wilson or Nighthawk, otherwise they're just not really worth it.>inb4 flip/turkshit owners claiming their GI sees anything more than 500rds a year
>>64264802Buckle up, you're about to get your money's worth
>>64264802>What am I in for?The finest heavy calibre self-loading pistol yet produced.
>>64264839Alright ill see how it goes though. Springfield is good I bought my mom a Springfield xd-m 9mm and she loves that gun as it fits her hands no problem. She recently got a ccw permit with it
>>64264845I hope so
>>64264855Love this image even though it can be recreated a million times.
>>64264855I'll never stop kicking myself for passing on the chance to buy one of those Colt WW1 repros for a reasonable price. Beautiful pistol.
>>64264908tisas makes one
>>64264909They don't. The market just doesn't seem to be able to sustain WW1 repros. To my knowledge only Cylinder & Slide and Turnbull Restorations are currently making new –and very expensive– reproductions of the earliest M1911/Government Model pattern. Why Springfield Armory Inc. has never offered one is surprising since the original SA did actually manufacture M1911s.
>>64264802>What am I in for?lots of malfunctions practice
>>64264802You're based as long as it's a 5" Government-length model in 45 ACP. You'll probably want to buy a slightly upgraded model that comes with custom features like extended beavertail, flat mainspring housing, extended thumb safety, Novak-style dovetail sights, improved trigger and hammer, etc. like a Springfield Garrison eventually. The shooting experience is much better with all those features.
>>64264802It's fucking garbagio
>>64264802Compared to a Glock, 1911 needs more operator input to function properly (safeties, lower capacity magazines/ more frequent reloads, single action vs striker fired)You will need a lot of practice. It is not a beginners' gun. I never really noticed that much of a a difference in weight, trigger, or recoil though.
>>64264802Jams with hollowpoints
>>64265898“I never noticed the difference in trigger pull and weight from a polymer Glock and a steel single action 1911”Nigger what the fuck are you talking about, you can say “I never noticed any real difference in my group size” but saying the difference in trigger pull! Get the fuck out of here with that dumb shit
>>64265905They’re temperamental to the nose of the JHP and the magazine/feedramp. A properly made gun and hollow point has no issues. My guns feed HST and Winchester Ranger fine, they choke up sometimes with S&B JHP since S&B’s OAL of the cartridge is shorter
>>64265932>normal gun: ammo is ammo>1911: this is not a properly made hollowpoint because JMB's feed ramp design can have no flaws!
>>64265719The one I bought is the Colt Mfg O1970A1CS 1911 Government Series 70 45 ACP Single 5" 7+1 Rosewood Grip Blued Carbon Steel Slide
>>64265918Why are you acting like a woman dude? No need to twist your panties due to what he said.
>>64265952S&B, PMC are unamerican. Winchester, Federal, are American. Suck dick faggot. Rep the set or be branded a traitor.
>>64266253Oh and the M1911s in the original 1911 trials went 6000 rounds without stoppage since the ammunition and guns were perfectly in spec.
>>64265952I had a ton of feed issues with hollowpoints in my FNP. Sometimes the geometry just isn't there.
>>64265918Oh, you and your trash talk. Its a handgun, not a sniper rifle. Tell us about your experiences, wise one.
>1911 threada beautiful gun, this coming from a slav.when you engage the safety, there's this small tube with a "pin" that goes from the safety to the slide stop. what function does that element have?
>>64266296Hey you slavs make good guns too, wish we had more of you in the states because I know for sure you be making kino high quality guns for sure
>>64266253Based-and-Whiteboxxed.
>>64266296That tube holds two detents/pins and a spring, they apply pressure to the slide stop to prevent it from moving upwards in recoil and also apply pressure to the safety to have it remain in place upwards or downwards. It’s an extremely vital component >>64266327It’s “red” box actually, flat nose that makes nice round holes in paper without tears. Feeds good as well.
>>6426480270 series colt govt is a good choice. Big steel pistol soaks up recoil, the Govt style sights are plenty accurate. Colts still have excellent fit and finish. Aftermarket is basically endless, though there is no need to upgrade anything. Colt 1911A1 is a good choice. Have fun.
>>64264802I won't dog in a 1911. It isn't as simple to take apart and clean as more modern pistols, nor does it have very good magazine capacity for its size/weight but it is very comfortable to hold and shoot. There's a reason why despite 114 years of innovation they are as popular now as they have ever been. With an actual Colt you are paying a pretty stiff premium for the rollmark because people collect them. It is only worthwhile if you intend to keep it in a box and never shoot it. I recommend a cheaper 1911 such as a Springfield that you can scuff up without worrying too much about collectability and spend the cost difference on ammunition instead.Pragmatically it makes sense to get one in 9mm due to lower ammunition cost and recoil, but it just isn't the same experience as a .45 would be. 38 Super is also a cool option, but that ammunition is uncommon and can be quite expensive.>>64264864The XD is a much different animal. It is imported by SAI but made by HS Product in Croatia. They are a pretty competent early Glock clone, but mechanically far easier to work on and simpler than a 1911 just because it is a more modern design. SAI's 1911s are US made and feel much different than an XD.>>64266253I'll buy American ammunition once it isn't both ridiculously overpriced and poorly made.
>>64264830It's going to be shit
>>64266548I’m getting American .45 for 33-35 cpr you fucking boomer
>>64264802Pew pew. Unless you are going to brush your teeth with it then doctor visits for reconstructive surgery
>>64266564It wont be me breaking my teeth it would be whoever is to close to me and I can't pistol whip them on the head.
>>64266548Thats understandable but I will use it as I didn't buy it to just collect. If I wanted a collectable m1911 I would want one used during ww1, ww2,Korean war, and Vietnam.
>>64266681I bought this m1911 for $1081 (plus taxes) because I was trying to get one that was good quality but not too expensive.
>>64266548I completely disagree about the xd being easier to work on. I can take a 1911 apart with no tools except for a screwdriver and a punch. most of the internal parts will simply fall out once you remove the stocks and the mainspring housing. I had to make a special tool just to remove the extractor from an xd and the magazine catch is almost as bad.
>>64266763Guess it depends on the tools and skills
>>64266763An XD is much easier for a novice to field strip for routine cleaning. Getting into the extractor is a different story, but it's not a routine job that needs to happen very often.
>>64264802You're gunna get spoiled. Then you'll want a suppressor
>>64264839I had a Ruger sr1911 I got for 700 back in the day that was great, they're up to like 1000 now though I think so there's probably better options for that much
>>64265898Lol good bait
>>64264802>What am I in for?spending a lot of money on an obsolete caliber
>>64264802Literally the most overrated service pistol in history. But this is a fake and gay post anyways so who cares.
>>64264802I was going to buy a glock 26 but then I saw a stainless steel kimber 1911 and read some reviews and just bought the glock 26
>>64264802I bought one of these a year ago and it came with the worst fucking rollmarks I've ever seen in my life. They were crooked and heavier on one end and lighter/shallower on the other end. Looked SO BAD. I sold it to a Cabelas for $700. Couldn't be assed to whine to Colt customer support about it.
what is your guys go-to "I don't care if this gun gets scratched and full of grime" shitbull blaster?
>>64265905Not the new production Colts. The geometry of the throat has been changed to feed hollow points.
>>64267749good old OLT
>>64266253>Federal is AmericanFederal, along with Speer, CCI and Remington ammo are owned by the Czechs as of last year.
>>64264802Try not to accidentally win any world wars
>>64267365Dear god...
>>64268200Oh come on surely our greatest ally wont get us to fight a ww3>me in 2030Oh......
>>64267542If its obsolete why is it still used?
>>64267542So trve sister
a 1911 was my first handgun, too. I loved it. Only traded up after 20 years because I wanted something with a mountain of capacity. You're in for a good time, even if you bought it cheap like I did.
>>64269288Thanks, I know glock would of been better but I just like the gun.>inb4 muh two world wars!
>>64267849So would be Colt or Dan Wesson. Are you going to argue those aren’t American made firearms?
>Agent 47 left the safety on>No training
>>64269501Oops
I have a 1911, OP it jams quite a bit but when it works it works. It's a gun that's good for all 50 states, the only other guns that meet that criteria are .357 mag or .38 special revolvers
>>64269689If your 1911 is jamming something is wrong with it. I have a $400 beater Filipino that never jams and just works, felt the gun was kind solved after a couple after market parts and tritium night sights, never had to solve jamming issues though.
>>64269689If a 1911 jams something was wrong with it, the 1911s used in 1911 for the trials went 6000 rounds without stoppage. The trials ended but they might have gone even longer without stoppage
>>64269689try running it wet. my cheap 1911 use to drink a lot of hoppes but never jammed in the 5000~ rounds I had it.
>>64264802>>64264839I picked up a used piece out of the phillipines. it's a low end Rock Island Armory knock off as far as I can tell. Doesn't matter what ammunition I run through it, it fires and it shoots straight. I've never had a malfunction, nor even a failure to fire, much less a stovepipe. it doesn't care what magazine I use (I think I'm currently using a couple of Italian make). it just works.it works so well that it's my favorite carry piece.it's not about the money with 1911's. it's all about how they're crafted. seriously, I paid $350 for a mine, and that was back around 2020.
>>64269705I should also note that at best I've shot maybe 250-300 rounds as a rough estimate.I should shoot it more
>>64269412Colt wasn't American made even before the acquisition.
>>64269827Yeah that doesn’t matter, if you’re experiencing jams, something is not right, I’ve never experienced a “break-in period” with any gun that wasn’t a piece of shit to begin with.
>>64270036Maybe I should take a look myselfFor the record, I have one colt magazine and 3 wilson combat mags, all of them are 7 rounders
>>64266337got it, thanks for the explanation anon
>>64265898If you can't notice a difference between 1911 and Glock triggers then you are wholly unqualified to be giving out advice on pistols at all. Please do everyone a favor and go back to lurking or even better, actually shooting to get the rather lacking experience you think you have.t. average shooter with a glock and 1911
>>64267766Lcp
>>64270183Yeah it sounds like the magazines aren’t the issue, what are these jams that are occurring? And how frequently do they happen? Is there any parts that look galled or weird when you disassemble it? Do you have any 10 round magazines? I find that they can be a good diagnostic tool as they seem to feed better due to increased spring pressure, you’ll see it in your ejection.
>>64265393No I mean tisas makes a 1911, a good one>>64269911schizo
>>64270337https://hartfordbusiness.com/article/unions-sue-gunmaker-colts-for-alleged-outsourcing-breach/
>>64266678Then just shoot the gun. Go take it out and range time. Take classes with it. Love it shoot it fuck it. Just learn the gun and yourself and dont be a hazard to the public. Simple stuff my boy.
>>64270438What did they outsource? Not buying overpriced steel from local distributors would be considered outsourcing here.
>>64270472If they violated their union agreements and laid off american workers it'd be fair to say this goes beyond buying materials. The exact parts that are being outsourced and subcontracted are anyones guess, but if you want to look deeper into it there are plenty of posts on forums where people have traced their Colt guns and everything inside of them to specific, and sometimes foreign, factories.
>>64270545Proof?
>>64270444Don't worry I will. Im not some retarded faggot that came off the assembly line of the gay retard factory in San Francisco
>>64270545So US gov is fine with this then since they're using COLT guns.
>>64270551>>64271118Here's a 20 minute video explaining how parts are regularly outsourced by Colt and the marks which can help identify them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIhJi2zr_7U
>>64271134aight buddy you do you.
>>64271118the government buys guns from sig and they use fucking indian parts who are you trying to fool here
>>64264866>pickup fee>not free pickupI don't willingly give my money to jews. Taxes are theft.
>>64271134When does he talk about 1911s
>>64271210>and they use fucking indian partsNTA, but,I meticulously checked every SKU that none of my OEM parts were made by pajeets. The rest are OEM/used German or aftermarket made in the US.
>>64269501"I HAVE TO USE THE BATHROOM"
>>64264802better to actually hold and shoot one before getting one because its definitely not for everyonebut personally there are few pistols that have better ergonomics for me
>>64271713Well im going to see how it goes
Bump
There's a reason why this pistol has been in service for almost 80 years. its a classic.
>>64267766Kimber Stainmore that I won in a raffle.
>>64275691whitebox enjoyer
>>64264802Two things you need to know. First don't limp wrist it otherwise you'll jam it. Second never rack the slide and allow it go back to battery by itself. The pistol was never designed to do that and it could cost you your life.
>>64275782Thank you for the advice I will keep that in mind.
>>64264802You'll love it. Nothing points like a 1911 and .45ACP is so much fun. It's basically the same price as 5.56 right now. As mentioned buy a set of snap caps, never drop the hammer on an empty chamber, never drop the slide on empty chamber either. A standard A1 is very difficult to fire two handed, keep in mind it was designed to be fired one handed. You will probably find it's easier to shoot one handed. There's only so high you can grip the gun without getting slide bite (beavertails and commander hammers fix this). Also keep that bitch wet with lube always. You can stick a needle oiler down into the grip and lube the disconnector and sear
>>64275782Not exactly, never drop the slide on an empty chamber. You should drop the slide on the new round but avoid on an empty chamber. Here is the shop manager at Nighthawk Custom telling me so, he used to be one of their gunsmiths.
>>64265952To be fair 45 is big enough that hollow points aren’t needed.
>>64276258>A standard A1 is very difficult to fire two handed, Wtf is this noguns bullshit, holy shit.
>>64277447Fun fact: Guns aren't mean to have the slide dropped on a loaded chamber either. It can snap the extractor.
>>64277904What does the gun do when it’s fired and cycles the next round genius
>>64277919It strips a round from the magazine instead of slamming the extractor claw straight onto the rim
>>64277921Okay I misunderstood your post.A few guns like the Beretta 92 and PX4 say that’s okay to do and is the recommended +1 loading method. To drop a round into the chamber and then drop the slide then load a fully loaded magazine in.
