>Beretta 92
You realize that these are extremely popular and widespread in the US, right? Probably the second most common metal frame hammer fired handgun in the US behind the 1911.
>AK-74
Shittier and 3x the price of a budget AR, 2x the price of a mid-tier AR. The AK is already suboptimal if you're too poor to afford more than one rifle, and they're only cool as novelties in their classic military configuration.
>SPAS-15
true but it's not like we have a choice.
>>64271940
>If you wanna stick to 5.56 get a HK416
Not at that price point, you can buy a number of superior piston ARs or non-AR type rifles for less, or alternatively build a superior DI AR. Like holy shit it's impressive how little HK delivers for the price point (in the US, not sure about the market in Europe)
I'd never touch one unless I wanted to make a clone build.

we invented them (besides the glawk), and the guys who came back home after carrying them in war wanted to have their own & their kids wanted some too
as a result, the stores are filled with them because people are familiar with them & theres tons of production already set up making them for everyone else around the world too

theres also the surplus market that shits them out constantly, so the question of "but why do burgers have so many???" is pretty dumb when you can plainly see that our govt keeps buying them, allowing the companies that make them to stay in business

the other odds & ends aren't common on account of the fact they just straight up are not common - yes theres the cost issue, but theres the issue of chance too
when the typical guy goes in a store, hes gonna see the guns that are common in his area, those guns will cost less than oddball options, and come with a fuckload more aftermarket support to boot, such as ammo & parts commonality
the commonality then raises the chances of people wanting that which is supported, as opposed to that which doesn't, like AK mags & stocks vs AR Mags & stocks
>>
>>64271896
When was the last time an American handgun manufacturer released a cutting-edge product? Bonus, with notable usage outside of the USA? S&W has done nothing but chase Glock since the 90s, Springfield imported $300 Croatian pistols for an additional $200 fee, and Colt was being Colt. Ruger tried to modernize their DA/SA pistol with polymer, but the P-series was always a beast even by 80s standards, and they have since fallen to offering a confusing collection of striker fired and hammer fired pistols that all feel like glock triggers anyways. Kel Tec is obviously still innovating, but they have never had the quality to rise above "good for the price" status.

Gun sales are driven by pop culture fads and trends like anything else.

AR-15 style rifles have gone out of style as and prices on the secondary market have gone down substantially over the past five years due to a glut in the market and overproduction.

The trendiest guns these days are vintage and modern lever action rifles, primarily driven by the popularity of Yellowstone and Red Dead Redemption 2.

OP jokes, and you're a retard, but this really is a thing, and has been for a long ass time. Picrel is from a book written in the 1800s.

We Americans like cheap so we can buy moar. But, let's not pretend that it's any different in Europe. I love those fine old handmade guns from the great old makers like Le Page, Manton, Gastinne-Renette, Westley Richards, Kreighoff, etc. However, those are not everyman guns. Just as how the average American has something soulless like a glock or PSA AR, even the the golden days of handmade Euro quality the average person was walking around with a shitty Belgian or Spanish knockoff of a British or French design. The average gun of that era was much crappier than the average modern polymerslop.
>>
In america guns are treated as tools as well novelty
People more interested in guns as tools are going to pick ones that are reliable, at a good price point, have all desired features and have a lot of aftermarket and repair part support.
Glock
AR15
Mossberg
>>
Because most people just want what works, ARs and Glocks just work™.

Because not every gun owner is a hobbyist or collector. It's perfectly fine to own a glock, ar, and mossberg and nothing else. It's perfectly fine to own 15 MAS-36's and nothing else. The important thing is to own a gun, go shooting, and support other people's right to do the same.

You can get dual-mode shotguns for cheap here, but most shotgun buyers just want something they can point at burglars. They don't care about juggling shorts, waxes, reloaded shells, and regular defense rounds all with their actual HD gun.
You can just grab a toy pump to play with on the side if that's important to you.

More people drive Honda Civics than Ferrarghini Pastacheros. Beyond price, most people are not enthusiasts and just want a reliable machine. And human nature doesn’t change. In the late 1800s - early 1900s, arguably the most exciting decades in firearms history, most people were using basic bitch repeaters and revolvers.
