It's a damn shame that no one tried to sneak in a version of the Halo Warthog into the program that made this thing.
>>
>>64279147
Didn't the program end up rejecting all the unique ATVs and end up approving motorcycles instead?
>>
>>64279678
The pickup in the OP was adopted.

>version of the Halo Warthog
it is very close for what it is, just needs a ring mount in the back, it would be better as it could carry 2 extra dismounts and presumably 1-2 in the back even with a gun mount.
>>
>>64279147
The Warthog is basically it but made out of titanium, no? It'd scare off any potential pick with its price.
>>
>>64280062
>it would be better as it could carry 2 extra dismounts
ISV seats 9, how many people can ride in a warthog?
>>
>>64280104
The warthog officially only carries 2 people
3 with the addition of a gunner
You could pack 4 or 5 people into the base warthog, but this involves sitting on the cargo bed which is likely to be hazardous on rough terrain
>>
>>64280118
>>64280104
There’s the “utility warthog” that replaces the gunner with passenger seats, iirc it holds 6 counting the driver.

Even the troop carrying variant, which carries about 9 passengers (driver included), seems much more dangerous for the crew, as the troop warthog has no seatbelts and the guys are mostly just crammed side by side in the back.

Truth is the warthog would have limited utility in a modern war, it is fun to play with, but a 3 crew light scout car is kinda obsolete, and a dicey troop carrying capacity is better handled by other designs. I personally feel the ISV is the closest we have gotten to a (production) warthog-like vehicle.

>Halo Warthog
Russia is 3/4 of a century ahead of NATO in Battle Buggy design.

Allow me to explain a few of the many advantages of Russian design:
1)walls and roof
2)heater
3)1000lb+ lighter weight
4)cost UNDER $100,000 unit
5)superior purpose specific off-road running gear, not adapted from soccer mom's suburban kid-karrier.
6)Related to #5, manual transmission, meaning among other things can be push started. In military operations, or even fire-fighting/police, it seems SOP to let battery run down for some reason related to be distracted, so ability to push start becomes very important where as in civilian life its barely an after-thought. Police Spec Ford Explorers have panel in back marked "Jumper Cables" but cops in USA are dicks and don't give jump starts as part of To Serve and Protect. Its to jump start other cop cars. Half the stories told by USGIs seem to start with "so we were stuck waiting for sgt to come jump start us, again, when...."

these are what the pros use in remote regions such as Outer Mongolia, where GM Dealership Service Dept is hard to come by, as are replacement spare vehicles, and lives may be literally at stake due to extreme conditions.
>>
>>64280207
7)Did I mention that due to lack of interrupter circuit, and robust design, the Russian Battle Buggy can move a considerable distance in "EV mode" by engaging the starter motor but not the ignition. While not for any sort of travel, it can be useful to be able to reposition a few yards, forwards or backwards, without need to fire up heat and emissions producing ICE. Ignition can be disengaged by easily accessible bundle of wires at keys (reverse hot-wiring) or under the hood which is INSIDE (yes, being van it has an inside) between seats. This feature also allows work on engine from inside the van, so tools etc can be left "out" but secure. This design was also featured in American vans in the 1960s and has many advantages, as well as extremely ergonomic front seat for effortless hopping in a out due to shape of door this design allows.
Pro-tip: the mind might be able to be changed, but the shape of the human body cannot, and should thus be prime consideration of a design that interfaces with the human body.
>>
>>64280207
Walls and a roof aren't a feature when they prevent you from dismounting without offering any protection. Also all NATO vehicles have an external jump start socket, so you can use your ISV to jump start a Leo 2 and vice versa. You don't even need to open the hood.
>>
>>64280337
trust me comrade, Russian Battle Buggy of originally 1950 UAZ-450 (not 452) purpose designed for military and extreme use is not of tissue paper-thin modern civilian sheet metal you are thinking of and provide significant protection from lower velocity projectiles and shrapnel, to say nothing of protection from weather, which as is well known can be deadly in Russia, or even desert.

One fine day I was blasting away with Mosin using about 2002 F-150's bed as rest, shooting at 1.5" steel plate about 20yards away, and the plate was getting cool craters with splash like wave around craters. I though I was hearing some odd echo off truck's bed or rear window, so just keep blasting. Then I hear metallic clang. I thought something like like gun leaned on truck maybe fell over but instead on side of truck facing target I seen small split in outside of truck bed! The bullets had been coming right back at me from 20yrds away, whizzing around my ears! However, bullet didn't seem to penetrate even thin American sheet metal, but would've probably Charlie Kirked me if it hit right spot.

Over priced and under equipped US Army lemon isn't designed for combat, so an extra 3 seconds for the guys to pile out isn't a factor. What is a factor is enemy not being able to see WTF is being carried in van. Is it combat equipped Little Green men squad, or is it a load of fuel, or of artillery shells or of RPG? All very diff intel and threats.

Did I mention that as enclosed van the Russia job can function as ambulance/operating room, even if nasty dust storm going on outside?

You fail to understand diff between being able to push start vs jump start, much less the problematics of what extra items must be present for one of those procedure (I'm not going to tell you which items or which procedure) . Please check if you have a vagina or penis.

What does this do that the HUMVEE didn't?
>>
>>64280877
your question is backwards, what did the numvee do that this doesn't?
Neither is protection against gunfire or fragments.
both are equally vulnerable to rocket drone mg arty and so forth.

this thing however is lighter, has greater cargo capacity for its size/carries more men, probably gets wildly better gas milage and thus has longer unrefueled range/has to carry less fuel as a fraction of total mass.

Neither vehicle is "protection" in frontline combat, both are simply "transport" its not intended to be combat vehicle it is simply a light truck optimized for military use. part of which is removing all excess weight that does not serve an immediate purpose. A door does not protect you from getting shot or fragged, but it might make it take 3 more seconds to bail from the vehicle and dive into a ditch, getting you shot or fragged.

Also the HMMWV is just old as fuck, like its from the 80s. We can do better.

https://www.toyota.com/rav4pluginhybrid/
In February 2025, the RAV4 replaced the Ford F-150 as the top selling car in the United States, after nearly four decades of the F-150's reign.[3]

2.5 L A25F-FXS I4 (China)
Petrol plug-in hybrid (PHEV):

42 mile Elect only range, 600 miles total range.

Just reposition the radiator in front for better attack angle (and less sports car), give it a diesel (and another 100miles range!), add some Mil Spec power interface for the TrackBatt, and put a bigger boxy rear body more for full size grunts and gear.

Fucking no-brainer.

Did I mention my 2021 Prius Prime with only 25 mile E-range (and its lighter and more streamlined) will run HVAC for about 6 hours on moderate setting on full batt without starting ICE?
>>
>>64280891
At least the HUMVEE kept the sun and rain off your head. Imagine driving through the snow in an open top vehicle.
>>
>>64280920

Please stop demonstrating that you don't know where the weight goes on an off road vehicle. A real offroader has literal tons dedicated to reinforcing the chassis. Otherwise you get a bent wheel after taking a single bad bump.

>>
>>64281088
lol, so they say, so they say.

IMO its CRYING OUT for nifty scheme of poles going both ways which would support fabric, which with poles would also be a stationary somewhat structural tent.

Have the poles and fabric overhang a lot, with sides that have see through netting, but are kwik release with come bungie cords that snap them up onto roof and out of the way in a jiffy.

Go nuts and include a way for it to be a few sleeping cots on the car.
>>

WTF did BOEING hide all that weight?

I'd think it would be aluminum, to not set off mines.
>>
>>64281193
Well the payload spec is close to a 3/4ton pickup (thicker frame, beefy suspension) and it has 4-wheel steering just like a 'hog. Still doesn't fully explain that EV-tier weight spec though.
>>
>>64281217

Most serious 4WD cars are 3 metric tons to start with.

can they make the seats rotate to face sides like he backmost?
>>

>tarpaulin rolled up in the middle, unfolding to both sides
probably WTF they will end up doing, as soon as they out of sight from Brass.

like I said, its nuts this POS doesn't come with at least one bake-in scheme to provide cover.

should be at least one, but more like "4 seasons 4 versions", with additional scheme to make use of any tarp(s).

go nuts and make one that uses USGI ponchos and woobies.

I would be surprised if there wasn't one included rolled up somewhere, but it wasn't deployed because the photo was taken at a demo of either of these capabilities, or how it could be slung-loaded under a single Black Hawk.

>>
>>64288423
Generally true since you can bundle up when you're cold but there's only so much clothing you can remove. On the other hand, unless you're near a pole (which not that many people are), the reason for intense cold is usually because of altitude, and at high altitude a bit of sunlight can absolutely broil you alive even as your toes are falling off from frostbite.

We don't. For years many Americans have been asking for smaller trucks, and the manufacturers just make them even bigger and blame the "chicken tax" and the EPA.
