My best guess is it's an old German Mauser from either WW1 or WW2 that was originally chambered in 8mm Mauser, then brought to the states either by a soldier returning home or a company importing them for sale on the American milsurp market, which happened a lot during the 50's and 60's. There were a shit ton of military bolt actions from other countries brought into the states during that time, so they were inexpensive - but the ammo was often difficult to find. It was very common to re-chamber rifles from 8mm Mauser to 30-06, because it's a relatively easy thing to do and 30-06 is obviously ubiquitous in the States.
It was also very common in those days to "sporterize" milsurp rifles (picrel). This means cutting down the stock (or just replacing the stock), cutting down the barrel, and often changing the sights and caliber. Today we look down on this practice because it "destroys the historical value" of the rifle, but in those days these rifles were plentiful and cheap compared to commercially-produced hunting rifles, so nobody had an issue with sporterizing them.
Anyways, it's a sporterized Mauser 98. Nothing particularly special about it. There are some indications from the court filings that it was originally Robinson's grandfather's rifle, so a family heirloom of sorts.

How’d you get 4-7 inches? Even a confluence of the gun’s mechanical inaccuracy + wind working to deflect the bullet in the same direction would not deflect it by 7 inches, not a 30-06 at 142yds. It would help a great deal if we knew the range at which the optic was zeroed. If it was 100yds (typical), the bullet would be roughly at +1” above zero at 142yds. Like, it could be the case that Tyler aimed center mass not know the zero range of his gun, and aimed high to correct for the bit of drop he was expecting, and hit Charlie in the neck instead of center mass. If he’s a noguns normie whose ideas of sniping come from the movies, this could be plausible.

But anyways, when I said “all things considered” I was assuming Charlie dies no matter what (evidently not considering all things lol), so given that the shot kills him, that it knocked him unconscious instantly (or so I hope) was a godsend. In that way, he was lucky.

I have no idea what he did, I'm sort of not following your question. According to the court documents the rifle had belonged to Robinson's grandfather and Robinson was borrowing it from his father. In all likelihood the rifle was sporterized years ago to turn it into a better hunting rifle. So yes? At some point in time somebody removed the stock and replaced it, as well as rechambered it and removed the iron sights. For context - in a Mauser rifle the barrel, action, and trigger are all a connected in a single unit. You only have to remove one (or two?) screws to remove the stock, at which point the stock comes away from the steel components of the rifle.

That's the FBI's current 'evidence' pattern and narrative of this entire case.
None of it makes physical forensic sense, even with supposedly basic simple elements:
>1 perp firing from a designated sniper perch
>1 shot
>bolt-action rifle (not an AR-15)
>perp weapon claimed to be an 'older Mauser'

Why don't we have, right now, footage of this 1-shot kill perp *getting on to* the Losee Center roof? Why isn't <--that the footage shown, instead of the 'escape' run-across-roof clip that's selectively edited 10 seconds *after* the shot rang out? Footage of the rifleman getting *into position on roof* would be far more slamdunk incriminating than the 'escape/jump off' roof sequence.
Same for the rifle itself. If ? the murder weapon is, really, just "grandpa's old import Mauser" then show a fucking picture of it.
Why does this have to be so complex? It's open-and-shut, isnt it FBI? Why keep making it so difficult and causing everyone speculate
