Canada. MONUSCO FIB 2013-14. The Canadian army wasn't there but they had a leadership cadre attached at the brigade level who were absolutely clueless. They thought mortars were obsolete and were only useful in defense if at all. We had completed planning to use rotary to drop an oversized platoon + MRAP's behind the M23 and they thought it was the most retarded thing ever and fought tooth and nail against it. Suffice as to say, they were proven to be wrong, repeatedly. Mortars proved themselves to be decisive in providing suppression from maneuver elements and the air assault + follow-up OP's threw the M23 into total disarray. Total morons. Also, big Indian contingent there. They didn't like fighting but were phenomenal in a supporting role. If you asked them to get 3t of 81mm rounds up a track that is otherwise impassable for vehicles, they would make it happen.

It looked like the last time their "uniforms" were washed was in a mud ditch back in India.An officer would come corral the group into a choreographed stick fighting number, which I assumed was for show. I remember having our company run behind their formation, as requested, to make sure none of them would (inevitably) just stop running and walk off. The collective oder that wafted back into us was comparable to a pit latrine at a training range. I could go on endlessly about how they were all pushed and thrown out of the door during the jumps, or about a safety speech they were given on not to shower and shit simultaneously in the group locker room but it was almost formulary. ANA by comparison would be the tip of the spear if their forces combined.
