what's next, are you going to tell me about your new set of wheels that you bought for your beretta 92? >>>/o/ is that way
>>
>>64288292
Whats the deal with that?
I see some US made 92s with slant dust cover, some straight, obvs. Italian is all straight.
Where did the slant originate?
>>
>>64288318
>92 series developed in 9mm
>FBI Miami shootout happens
>everyone decides 9mm is not enough
>leads to the development of 10mm, which leads to the development of .40S&W
>.40S&W hits the law enforcement market like a meteor in the mid-90s
>92s are converted for sale to .40S&W, but increased pressure/velocity results in cracked frames
>frame beefed up and slanted to accomodate increased recoil of .40S&W
>beretta converts all frames to slant cover for ease of production at some point
>reverts back to straight dust cover some time around late '00s or '10s after .40S&W dies out
Basically it.
You can find both Italian and American .40S&W 92s with straight frames (early/rare), and both Italian and American slant frames (common).

Hey don't despair, the 92x has a proper steel frame, but just an inferior grip setup.
IMO a good trade for the material upgrade.

I just want a plain Jane M9 with a steel frame not some retarded tranny gamergun shit.

all of their new performance pistols have that.
It doesn't look as offensive from different angles
still very ugly though
>>
>>64290774
Holy fuck, I thought this was some custom machining job that went wrong, or in the worst case I was looking at an AI image that for some reason fucked it up
this is so fucking ugly, what the fuck is wrong with them, what is the point of this?
>>
>>64288540
>inferior grip setup
If they just put the normal grip on it I would legitimately go out and buy one.
I've always wondered why the fuck they would go to the trouble of producing a steel frame for the fucking thing and then only offer the goddamn vertex grip profile.
It's literally just a different CAD path when milling the profile. Probably ten seconds difference in machine time and an extra SKU.

Maybe I should start a company buying vertex frames and welding an extra 5mm of steel to the backstrap.
>>
>>64288198
this is terrible cope or ESL
>>
>>64289215
I'm sorry that you thought the frame was made out of steel on the 92 inox, nogunz, but there's no need to throw a temper tantrum. maybe you'll feel better if you go back to getting fucked by your buttbudies in VRchat.

more material around the locking lug cutouts, which are the weakest part of the slide
>>
>Been thinking about an Inox Beretta
>Open Inox Beretta thread
>Find out they're alloy framed
Have 92s always been alloy? From some of what I'm seeing ITT I'm guessing not. It looks like if I want a current production steel gun then I'm getting a Performance model.
>>
>>64290774
>new
Brigadier slides have been around since 1995 or 96.
>>
>>64292755
>Have 92s always been alloy?
Pretty much always, yes.
There were a few special editions that were steel frame, but by and large they've always been alloy.
The steel race guns are actually a recent development.
>>
>>64292884
The only steel framed model I remember was the Billennium. Were there others?
>>
>>64292755
yeah they have always been alloy framed. the ancestor to the beretta 92, the beretta m1951 was mostly steel framed so maybe you're thinking of that
if you want to get a 92x do consider that they weigh 48 ounces unloaded, compared to the m9 which weighs 26oz unloaded. an M1911 is like 39 oz unloaded. I'm not sure how they managed to make the 92x so god damn heavy but hey, at least it will have very little recoil.
>>
>>64292907
Yeah. The "Centennial 92FS" is one, I know there were a few others, but generally they are extremely limited production runs.
They're obviously very uncommon.
Beretta is fond of putting out these weird, desirable improvements to their platforms with absolutely no advertising.

Another one that should have become a regular model was the titanium frame Tomcat, which basically eliminated the frame cracking issue and allows you to run the hottest 32ACP you can find without issue.
