What does /k/ use for ear protection when shooting?
Do you use the fancy, electronic muffs that amplify quieter sounds while blocking out the louder ones?
Do you use some kind of in-ear foam thing?
Or do you just use whatever the range gives you and not think about it?

I have a big head and big ears, so 9/10 times the ear muffs I can grab at the range are too small for my head or sit right on my ears, which hurts.
I used to shoot once in a blue moon but recently I've started shooting a lot more and I figure it might be time to put some more thought into not being comfortable.

Pardon the google image

I've been using MSA Sordins for 5 years now and they've been excellent value for the price. They still work flawlessly
>>
Started with a cheapass pair that had a huge db rating. Saved up for an expensive electronic pair. Hate em. Now they’re my lawn mowing earmuffs.

I use the peltor 500 sport tacticals with the gel cups. Max comfy at extended wear times plus bluetooth allows for range tunes and the ability to answer important calls while you’re shooting.

electric walkers the cheap ones with gel cups and I wear decibullz under those
pretty affordable combo, works great

Razor slim?

I've heard of a few people wearing in-hear protection under their over-ear protection and it's a bit odd to me.
A good pair of one or the other was always enough for me, if anything what I always struggled with wasn't sound deadening itself but hearing what other people were saying while wearing them.

Walkers and afaik sordins have a smidge less db protection. How much does it matter? Ehhh dunno. You see dual epro and foamies usually indoors or when there’s a constant loud noise source that can’t immediately be turned off.

any thread where the OP asks more than one question should be written off as slop engagement

Huh
You know, what prompted this thread is that after my first time in a truly indoor range my ears had that not-quite-ringing sensation even though I was a good boy and kept my ear pro on the entire time.
Didn't think I did anything wrong because in the moment gunfire didn't sound uncomfortably loud.
I just figured they were a poor fit or something, it didn't even occur to me what I had on wasn't enough.
And now that I think about it, the electronic ones can probably compensate for the in-ears by cranking up the volume.
FUCK
I'm retarded

Some protac II with chink gel cups. I wanted these because they use AA batteries and all my stuff has AA they are a tad bit bulky for shooting long guns. I'll go for Sordin next time because of the price, 3M prices are totally retarded now where I am
>>
I also have pair of peltor with gel cups.
Is there any way to keep the good noise suppression when putting on safety googles?

when your over ear only has 25 NRR, you should be wearing in-ear underneath.
also the razor slims have electronic sound amplification so you can hear people talking next to you.
>>
i like. i also find the ability to hear things around you (including voices) whilst having ear pro on very useful.
>>
I just use a passive earpro, a peltor optime 3 (snr 35db).
I got it for like 40€. I use it also for work at home.

I like that you can add gel cups and semi crappy walkies on to these, I have a box that’s like 4/6 Walkers because my friends are dumbasses and always forget to bring them, and it’s useful for introducing people to sporting clays and skeet.
>>
Old British army ear defenders and when I need to double up, those orange plugs. I've been looking for some cheap active ear pro, but are they any good? Like those under 100€ models.
>>

Not him but I always wear ear plugs under the headphones, and also there is the concussion to consider.
I had the sensation last time I went to the range even though I too was a good boy and it was an outdoor range- but I think it might've had something to do with the guy next to me firing fucking .500 magnum out of his carbine length lever gat.
