Does anyone have any info about MAK90 serial number? I have a 9300xxx which seams pretty low and also this rear mark in the receiver is for a folding stock, can a Chinese underfolder just slide in once the current pin is removed?
>>
>>64290531
The first two numbers of a MAK's serial indicate the year it was imported; thus, yours would've been brought in in 1993. Since Norinco imported them from 1990-1994, yours is a later import.

As for the underfolder, it's pretty much plug & play (or rather remove plug and play lol). Here's a video demonstrating how to remove the receiver plug.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zQqROo6fUo
>>
>>64290531
And here is a video on how to install a standard underfolding stock. Helpful tip: if you can't find a proper Chicom stock, a Bulgarian Type 3 stock will also fit.

How do you people handle private online sales? Like zelle, PayPal, whatever else?

I just bought my first gun and I'm curious, how many rounds do you shoot at an average range trip? The nearest one to me is decently far so I want to make it count but at the same time I don't want to overdo it.

That's not a thing. If it's from someone out-of-state the gun goes to an FFL in your state. If it's in-state, you drive to meet up...unless the seller is an ultrafudd and insists to send it to an FFL. Private party online sales that don't fall into these categories are illegal Tor + memecoin purchases which are almost always scams.

I meant specifically on how to make/take payment. Of course cash in person, but if you had to ship it to their ffl what do

Can the M7 be made slightly less stupid by switching from Bubba's Pissin' Hot BiMetal rounds to a SLAP style sabot round?
It should reduce the overall pressure in the gun making it easier to shoot and not wear as much while still getting the armor piercing desired.
>>
>>64293730
I'm curious if there has been any recent testing with SLAP style projectiles. IIRC, the original SLAP program found they worked great in .50 cal, but in smaller bores they had problems with the penetrator going skew and coming out the side of the barrel. I can't help but wonder if that was happening due to the polymer technology of the time and that modern polymers could make better sabots?
>>
>>64293023
Oh I will, it was unopened at that. Was my grandfathers. Guess he got it before the AWB and never touched it. >>64293021
Haven’t really had any criticism from this. I’ve carried the LCP max for 5 years now? >>
>>64293730
Sabots may be tolerable in a beltfed with defined firing arcs, but in a soldier's personal rifle they tend to fly into others' faces during CQB.

M16A1 by miles. Urban combat is mostly throwing the largest volume of fire possible while maneuvering, and having double the ammunition makes a huge difference. Even the aimed shots need to be at fleeting targets, so a lighter/low recoil rifle that you can bring on target faster is a huge advantage as well. Only advantage of an M14 would be wall penetration, but that's of dubious real value if you aren't 100% sure there is a target on the other side of the wall to shoot at.
>>64293730
They experimented with that back in the 60s with dismal results. Backwards compatibility to 7.62x51mm might be more useful there, but still a lot of recoil. The M7 seems to be going nowhere since the primary rationale was encountering enemies with ceramic armor which is just not the threat profile being encountered in modern warfare.
The best fix seems to be to dump the M7 altogether and use what they learned for other projects. Sig needs the money though, so they are paying out bribes to keep it alive.
>>64291942
Couple hundred at least if it's an all day thing.
>>64291588
You don't. Either inspect the gun in person and pay cash or you are going to get ripped off.
>>
>>64296061
Before. If you are the one selling don't ship anything until you're sure payment has cleared. It's standard practice that if someone pays by check/MO that there is a waiting period to make sure the check clears before the seller ships.

It gets dirty fast when silenced. The sights are pretty short, so even 1" tube silencers won't let you see (pic is shooped but more or less what you see IRL). It never really gets quiet enough to the point I think silencing it would be worth it. Weirdly enough I looked through the archives and I apparently said it (the volume reduction) was "nice" the first time I silenced it? It wrecked my fucking ears like throwing one of those red stick impact bang-snaps in a concrete garage, what the fuck did I mean by "nice"? Lol; I doubt I misremembered but maybe I've started to exaggerate. Burt does agree, though, for what that's worth. Great gun despite my failed attempt to silence it and the safety can be applied both when cocked and uncocked. Not sure how Beretta recommends use of the safety (hammer down or hammer cocked). If you intend to carry it, I might recommend the non-threaded version to save half an inch. Hard to say. That half inch may get you some velocity, though. It's a nice pocket gun, if a little loud. Comfy to handle. If I remember right it's pretty damn accurate for its size. Nice gun to throw in your pocket when taking the trash out at night or something. Good trapline gun (if a hair loud; would recommend muffs if you used it like that), like a modern replacement for the Mossberg Brownie. Or it would be if my state didn't disallow semi-auto handguns for trapline dispatch...because you might miss or something? Or you might fill it full of holes as a trapper concerned for the quality of a pelt? You know, unlike the DA 9 shot 22LR revolver or semi auto rifle you're allowed for the same use.
>>
>>64297090

Do you think the weird barrel action it has is why it's difficult to suppress the sound? Also, what can did you use?

Thank you for all the feedback, though, this is helpful. I suspect that the extra half inch on the threaded version may actually give a slight help to the gas action and make it a bit less finicky to shoot.
>>
Any reason I shouldn't buy a Bergara B-14 HMR in .308 for $1050? Uses are target shooting at 200 yards and hunting once a year. I inherited a shitload of 308 ammo but the rifle (Remington 700) is rusted into oblivion and want a decent replacement without spending a huge amount.
>>
Is there a time limit on how long you have to restore your gun rights?

I had a couple involuntary commitments, but I'd like to be able to buy and shoot guns again, I just don't know if I'm running out of time or not.
>>
>>64297172
I think it being open top blowback (?) with a small light slide doesn't help silencing it. Hard to say, only pistol I've ever tried to silence as I really only have old guns with no threaded barrels lol. For reference here's Burt's thoughts as he's more into handguns than I am:
>The super short barrel means you have powder burning after the bullet leaves the muzzle, meaning even subsonic ammo is louder than it would be out of a longer barrel. This is even worse with regular/supersonic ammo as you have that much more powder exploding outside the barrel making it louder still. The little tiny slide opens quicker than heavy slides as well which means more port pop, and the open top also allows more noise to escape omnidirectionally from the ejection port. All of this to say I think it's one of the WORST suppressor hosts out there! Doesn't mean it's not still fun and it doesn't mean he's right to say it isn't hearing safe but come on man just about every other .22 pistol is a better silencer host
>You're not gonna tell me it's as quiet as a gun with an enclosed slide like my Mark or my TX22 where sound can't easily diffuse in all directions, I can hear the difference. Heck I can hear the difference between my TX22 with an enclosed slide and my TX22 Competition with an open top slide
Silencer I tried is a SIG SRD22x. Like the silencer. Would love a second, but, you know, SIG. Also it really isn't that much cheaper than a Mask HD despite being smaller diameter+welded base. I love the look want 1-2 more but the wrench is cheese-grade plastic garbage. Might've tried a Mask HD. The latch does have a (pretty impressive) weight limit; only one guy seems to have found it and it was using a huge ~18" M16 repro silencer IIRC. Didn't break it, just kept tipping open after each shot, lol. Can't find the video unfortunately (NFA Review Channel?). Here is one with a SIG SRD22x:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCdsgqDFAL4
I should try silencing it again.

>>
>>64298110
So you're saying these are overkill then?

What about dragon's breath?
>>
>>64291942
That really depends on what guns you are shooting.
I usually shoot a few hundred at a range trip, but that's because I'm bringing multiple guns at least some of which have cheap ammo, and it's most likely a semi-social thing too where friends are involved.
If you have just one gun then most of that doesn't matter. How much you shoot will depend on what that gun is. Shooting the average 9mm pistol? You're probably shooting 100 rounds or more. Snubnose airweight revolver or a big boi hunting rifle? You're not going to be shooting 100 rounds out of either of those in a sitting unless you're a recoil junkie.

Those are solid rifles, but there's a lot of worthwhile competitors to examine. Some of which are cheaper. Howa 1500, Tikka T3X, etc. Or get a battle rifle and then you'll rip through that ammo in no time. I recommend a Century CA-3.

That's a lawyer question because it depends a lot on your legal jurisdiction (for instance the laws vary on this a LOT from one state to another), time-frames and if courts were involved. There's a very real chance you are perma-fucked here, but you won't know one way or the other until you pony up some cash and talk to an actual attorney.
Yes it's expensive.
Yes you should listen to what they say.
No, you don't know better.
No, ChatGPT, Google or the voices in your head don't know better than an actual attorney either.
If you aren't sure, consult with another attorney.

They're being brought back little by little. One company bought the ammo manufacturing portion, PSA bought H&R from them (and bought NoDakSpud to rebrand as H&R), Ruger bought Marlin from them, and another bought the firearms manufacturing portion. Original "Remington Arms" is a dead company (well, now for real) and it's split into Remington Ammunition (Vista Outdoors) and RemArms (Roundhill Group). So between that and the fact that they moved out of Ilion NY in 2024 I'd say they're probably still way behind on production, not to mention it is RIGHT NOW the time that everything starts to disappear off shelves because of all the last minute hunters getting ready. Haven't heard a fucking peep with anything to do with the quality of the 870s coming out of Remington right now. Everyone knows that you want to avoid the Cerberus ("Freedom") Group era (~2007-2018) in Remington firearms as well as Marlin when they got bought and moved. But as for what the quality is like after they went bankrupt and got split up? Who knows. I just bought a 90s police surplus Police Magnum so I know I can shoot 3" and steel out of it and additionally not have any issues unlike the Rustington (Cerberus) era.
>>
Also asking here I guess. I want to sell my 7.62x39 to a friend, how much should I charge per round? 1k of Wolf which i know is shit, 500 Golden Tiger. I was thinking about just doing 50 cents per for all 1500

>markers that check for fake bills
Nah, I mean I never used that, but I've sold a lot of guns but wouldn't mind it if they wanted to. At most the biggest precaution I would take would to do a joint bill of sale and get the guy's actual information. Just meet someone in plain daylight, my preferred place is an academy or Walmart, but I've met people outside police stations by request of the other party. Anyway, don't ship because on armslist there's no recourse if you get ripped off.

Isn't Oscar a bit of a poor choice for the phonetic alphabet? In "proper" English the opening O sounds more like an A (Ah-scurr), the way Euros pronounce it (Oss-kar) actually makes more sense. Why didn't they go with a more straightforward word like Ocean or Office?

>every gun and modification is based in reality
The hell it is. .500 Magnum is powerful, but it's both weaker than (in terms of raw power) and nowhere near as good at penetrating armor as a .30-06 AP, and level 4 is rated to stop that. This is nowhere close to making logical sense. Anything large enough to leave massive bruises through a plate would be impossible for your protagonist to fire without causing worse injury to himself. It's plausible that your protag might have some kind of weapon that is a threat to lvl 4 plates, but that threat would be penetrating the plates with a tiny super high velocity projectile, not a .500.
>>
>>64302299
They did pick the more straightforward word--for the most people. Oscar is known as a name in many languages, and was a lot more common back then than it is today. "Office" and "ocean" only make more sense from the perspective of an English speaker.

how am I supposed to know where my holster should go? a leather holster costs like $100, what if I buy a certain type and don't like it?
I'm taking my ruger GP100 camping and can't decide on a side holster or crossdraw. or even a chest holster! how can I know which one works best for me without buying all of them and trying them all out, then being left with several I will never use?
>>
>>64307521
Lots of gun stores will let you try out holsters in-store, and they often have dummy guns (blue plastic) for exactly this purpose. You can also make a ghetto approximation of the holster you are curious about out of cardboard to experiment with patterns. Clearly you can't wear that long-term but you can at least fool around with what seems comfortable to you.
>>
>>64307293
I'm kinda curious too. I also wear glasses and I don't have to do anything special to use them. About the only thing I can think of that might be an issue is if you wear fashion styled glasses with very narrow lenses it can be difficult to look through a scope at some angles, like shooting prone. Your mention of a riser makes me think that could be an issue?
>>
When storing ammo in containers, do you keep them in the packaging or dump them out?
>>
>>64308876
I keep them in the packaging. It makes it clear what exactly the ammo is (grain weight, bullet type, velocity, shot size, etc.), provides a clue to the age of the ammo, and keeps it organized in convenient to grab quantities.
I've never understood the point of dumping it out. What does that achieve? I get that cheap ammo is often sold loose because that saves money on packaging, but I don't understand the purpose of dumping ammo out of boxes unless you're actively loading a bunch of mags with it right then and there.

Does anyone have the ND pasta on hand?

They've happened a few times

At friends apartment at college. Just bought my first pistol from a gun show (I was 18) Drinking with friends Show them my new Jericho Try to manually decock Thumb slips on hammer, ND into celling Upstairs neighbors too high and drunk (underage and illegal drugs) to call the police.

Second time

At range Showing friend pistol Think gun is unloaded Point at ground show him how to wrack and pull the trigger. Forgot loaded mag in Shoot between his feet

Third time

At parents house. Just bought a sig from a guy Get home Try swapping slides with another sig I had Forgot the other sig slide was chambered. Pull trigger Shoot parents wall

Fourth time

At my new house Playing with a friend's 5.56 AK Release bolt Slam fires round into ground

Fith time

Showing a friend how to use it No idea how but a round got chambered Show him how the trigger works, Pull trigger Shoots round into floor in the same place as before

Sixth time

Thought maybe the house was haunted Grab a sig Physically clear it, (racked the slide 3 times) with no magazine in pull trigger at the same hole Round goes off

Seventh time

Friend brings over a used Glock wants me to look over it I grab it and pull the trigger without clearing it Didn't even realize the thing was loaded.

Eighth time

Friend brings over his transferable Mac 10 I had no idea how open bolt guns worked. He's showing it off to me I put a loaded mag it and decided to try and release the bolt (I thought it shot from a closed bolt) Pulled the trigger for some reason Shot 3 rounds into my wall

Overall you shouldn't feel too bad about NDs. It's part of owning guns, and you should get used to them.
