I'll be very surprised if a combat robot dog roughly the size of a microwave with a shotgun to blast slugs to peoples faces doesn't become the norm for trench and urban warfare. Just big enough so it can take hits from standard infantry rounds, small enough to keep costs down and squeeze through damaged doors/piles of crap.

pretty sure that company is just working on the problem of making stable bipedal robots, all the kung pao chicken moves it does are just for show, just like the Boston Dynamics bots doing parkour
>>
>>64295845
it honestly looks like they're pretty close, but like all of these bipedal robots I've seen they desperate need a way to cheaply give robots proprioception. The more they push these bots to do acrobatics the more their lack of sense of where limbs are and what they're doing becomes glaring.

>>
>>64295841
Zone 5's Paladin drone hunter drone already does this.
>>
>>64295845
I mean parkour at least makes sense because it's showing how much mobility it actually has, the pre-programmed random kicks and punches tho are just kind of pointless.
>>
>>64295935
These also kinda do the same thing, but either way both of those things are just
>relatively complex tasks making them somewhat useful for training the robot's balance
>fun tasks to work on
>flashy and marketable
The kicks throw the robot's CG off significantly, making them decent for training, but at the end of the day all of these things are just to garner interest and attention. They could've just shown the robot being hit with a pendulum and recovering from the fall, and that would've shown off the robot's capabilities equally well, but that's not interesting to look at.

Right but kicking an punching the exact same way at the air isn't complex compared to navigating a complex environment.

>The kicks throw the robot's CG off significantly, making them decent for training,

Not if it's the exact same kick every time and it's just kicking the air. It just means the robot's really good at doing that one kick. Now if it were kicking different objects/materials that could throw off its kick that would be a different story.

I'm referring to the kicks and punches the robot itself is doing not the engineer's kicking the robot

Not that anon, but it's getting pretty good actually.
We've seen massive strides in capability in several sectors even in the civilian space, from generalist videogame actors that are way better than humans at linear tasks, video and image design, 3D modelling, audio copycatting, language and social manipulation, banking industry, we even have generalist manufacture AI working on production lines.
My personal experience with drug manufacture, 95% of all drug design nowadays is just taking some AI/Hybrid model and testing what comes out the other end to see if it's viable. I imagine steel and other material sciences are either doing the same or following suit.
AI car driving is getting better, open projects are even avaliable for you to buy for cars that didn't come with any form of self driving, though arguably they are shit for now they will get better.

There uses are specialist and generalist at the moment, it's only a matter of time and energy before they outcompete half the worlds population in totality.

Don't get me wrong, AI hype trains like Tesla are massively overvalued but AI ha some of the most productive RnD exploration we can do nowadays alongside humans.

We're not at generalised AI levels yet but we're getting there slowly. It requires a lot of good data (teaching) to develop an AI, similar to a human, but they aren't as intuitive yet, but they may well be as we get better at implementing and teaching them.

AI is really not good as a generalist, not today and not 5 years from now. There's a serious problem with RAM capacity scaling which does not look like it will be overcome before the mid 2030s, and even then it's expected to at best 3-4x over current technologies (any advancement in "traditional" ram bit cell scaling taken into account).

These systems are basically at a hard wall currently, and advancement of the program architectures has been yielding 2 steps forward 1 back, or 1 forward 2 back. There will be marginal gains compared to the previous 5 years for the next ten years.
And no, you can't just link more racks together for distributing 4x, 6x 10x larger models. Inter-rack bandwidth limits would slow token output to a crawl and be horrendously expensive.

Stop hyping AI like a clown. Bad info makes everyone more stupid.
>>
>>64296358
Octopussy arms are underrated and I expect to see them in all sorts of jobs involving packing in the next 15 to 30 years as the image processing and sensor processing gets good enough to recognise objects that it has good grip with.

>Stop hyping the largest innovation of our time
What
The biggest jumps will be teaching shortcuts and less to do with processing bandwidth, most of the major jumps in capability have been to do with advancements in said teaching methodology rather than throwing scale at the problem (though we do that too)
>>64296365
I was thinking 40 for total industrial domination but the reality is we don't know what exactly those advancements will be, or how rapidly they will integrate.
>>
>>64296397
