Do volunteer fighters who show up in warzones get the same gear as regulars, or are they just given whatever's lying around?
>>
From what I've seen they bring their own armor and gear plus extra for others and are given rifles.

who cares they all get droned anyways
>>

YPG volunteer here, we went through training in the same camp as YPG recruits, even though ours was heavily shortened because they assumed we'd have prior training. Me and my wave of volunteers were out after 8 days instead of the already short 4 week basic training.

Afterwards, we received the same gear and weapons as regular fighters and joined regular units along different parts of the frontlines in small teams of volunteers.

The fuck motivated you to volunteer?

How do you feel about the current syria situation?

Did you meet Brace? Is he a glowie? Are you?

Depends on the group, but usually you'll get the same as everyone else. However, it is expected that you'll source better or specialty gear yourself. Ukraine pretty much set the standard with its weirdly competent logistics, but other non-state suppliers are less reliable. There was a huge blowup during the ISIS flight from Mosul when they had a bunch of new recruits and asked them not to drive in with nothing, as they'd lost stockpiles to the Iraqi police. There were full-blown bitch-fits by jihadis over social media and internal comms because guys were turning up and getting an AK with a pouch and 3 mags. That shortage led to the PKK bushwhacking a group because they had no light discipline with their camping lamps from a Turkish market.

idealism i guess, idk

situation in rojava doesn't seem too bad desu, but i was really surprised by the sudden turn in events. i've seen both FSA and SAA soldiers, regime soldiers who were guarding the border checkpoints to turkey in qamishlo and fsa soldiers at the border between ypg and fsa territory at the time, it's insane to imagine that 8 years later, out of the blue, the fsa just took over the country.

i met a few of the "prominent" volunteers, jordan matson, that actor who played pirate #17 in pirates of the carribean, the volunteer "circle" was relatively small and everyone knew everyone. never heard of brace though, probably after my time. what i can tell you about international volunteers in general, as a general rule, the more they seek the public light, the smaller their actual contribution is. the guys who aggressively try to market themselves in the media are the ones who never even went close to any action.

this will be true for ukraine, too. lot of guys i knew went there, among them some of the usual suspects, true facebook warriors.

Brace Belden. He has a podcast called TrueAnon about like Epstein and stuff.
>>
>>64294719
NTA but that looks like a facebook warrior if i ever seent one
>>
>>64293952
theres no such thing as 'volunteer fighters' armies dont just take randos. the next day your whole army will be enemy spies
>>
>>64294750
I think he said he operated a machine gun but never killed anyone and that he wasn't very good at it. And his unit got mortared once or twice.
>>
>>64295028
Not even spies, just people who don't know when to turn their smartphones off. We saw how that worked out in the first few weeks of Ukraine.
>>
>>64295714
And that sounds exactly like a fucking facebook warrior
>>
>>64294678
>the guys who aggressively try to market themselves in the media are the ones who never even went close to any action.
Civ Div?
>>
>>64295721
Or Russia, with these guys proudly VK spreading their badges and locations
>>
>>64295028
>theres no such thing as 'volunteer fighters' armies dont just take randos

ISIS and the Afghan Mujahideen were both pretty liberal with who they accepted. Al Qaeda originally started as a group of Arab fighters who just hung out together because they spoke the same language.

CivDiv at least doesn’t try to pretend he was near the front
>>
The ones who showed up to ukraine got missiles. But there’s a catch…
>>
Remember when tranny neckbeards volunteered, supplied with basically nothing and used as bait to give away enemy positions
>>
>>64294497
Did they pay you?
>>
>>64295028
Ukraine does I believe
>>
It all depends what warzone you're in.

The volunteers who showed up just before the Russian invasion of Ukraine all came unarmed and were given weapons by the Ukrainians after a background check, depending on whether they could be verified as having significant combat experience or not.

Check out the interviews with Ryan O'Leary if you're interested in hearing about what the serious foreign legion guys did in Moschun.

Not directly. But a few days before i left, our position in a village north of raqqa was overrun. We took it back by the end of the day, but isis burnt all our vehicles. My alice pack with all my shit was in the back of one of our hillux, all i had left was my phone, which i had on me. YPG command compensated me for that to help me out, about 500 US dollars.
