>How would /k/ defeat a xeno?
In the following order
>make a fifty meter tunnel that connects to a concrete tetrahedron with me in the tetrahedron. The surfaces of the first 25 meters of the tunnel are slicked in petroleum jelly and feature a trip wire every two feet at varying heights.
>the next 25 meters features multiple trip lines either connecting to a industrial strength cattle prod or a tranquilliser gun full of pure carfentanyl/BZ. This part of the tunnel features speakers that will play “Get It Up” by Mindless Self Indulgence at ear rape levels
>The end of the tunnel will feature multiple automated sprayers that will spray quick setting foam like that shit from the 90’s that I can’t quite remember that was used against Somalis
>Once the Xeno is trapped, tired and drugged I will reveal myself. Having consumed multiple viagra pills and stimulants, ready to fuck it into submission
>I will also have a Saiga-12 on hand to either off myself or the Xeno in the event of it getting loose.

Weren't they shooting it with 10mm? Basically any 12 gauge slug would've upped the firepower enough to kill it. The fear was they didn't know what it was and they were on a civilian ship. Irl it would've gotten btfo by a gun autist.
>>

Was that the ship that kept the air inside as long as there were no holes from the acid for blood?

The thing from the first movie was highly intelligent and easily adapted to the enviroment hunting the humans one by one when it so choose,
In the second movie it didnt show on IR for some reason so they are very good at ambushes too.
Consider that

I think aliums are vastly overrated. Just shoot em in the face and don't their blood on you. Done.
>>
>>64298241
desu, that line was just kinda speculation from the corpsman. Personally, I figure the reason they didn't show on IR at that moment was both because the nest was hot and that they seemed to be in the process of going into some sort of hibernation, prolly cause they killed off their entire food source. The sentry guns don't seem to have an issue targeting them later, at least.

Yeah. But thats why they always fight unarmed civilian freighter crews. Its the futuristic equivalent of releasing an angry Malinois on a cargo ship full of pajeets.

Man, I mostly like this show but the SFX are just bad. The ayy is so very clearly just a guy in a rubber gimp suit, and while that was also the case in the old movies, they managed to make it work so much better. Here the xenos just don't feel threatening at all, so they are only the second most interesting aliens in their own fucking show
I think people take the 'practical > CGI' too dogmatically now, and refuse to use CGI even when it would be the better choice.

Xenos are even less of a threat than zombies.

>Dies by bullets/fire/blunt attacks, massive dopey head is huge target
>can only reproduce 1:1 with humans so each one dead is a massive loss to their numbers.
>despite being "smart" still can't use firearms or vehicles.
>biggest defense from melee attacks, acid blood, also ruins potential host.
5 rednecks in a helicopter could gun them down like hogs.
The only time they are a threat is when they fight totally unarmed enemies, or the numbers are 20 to 1 in their favor.

The only reason zombie virus is a little more of a threat is because retards would spread it while still alive due to crab mentality or just plain indian behavior.

They manage to kill a few with 20th century fire arms
A shotgun in the mouth killed it and their side arms were able to canoe them, albeit with a mag dump

Their danger lies in their intelligence and sadism, since they do things that the humans dont assume they can do like cut the power and travel through ventilation shafts that weren't in the schematics

I am very conflicted about the show. Didn't watch it yet but I am not sure I want to. Didn't even watch Romulus as I just don't want to ruin the whole series for me as I have great memories. Honestly the effects were great in the movies (especially the first ones considering how old they are) and I am not against proper use of CGI models too and don't understand why are people so militant about it these days when few years back they didn't care about it. Also nothing compares to the first movie's atmosphere which was almost horror like. Later production was more action-like instead of horror/thriller.
Have some Rippley® boobies.
>>
>>64302559
Romulus is... passable. Probably the best Alien thing to come out in thirty years, but that's a very, very low bar. I dunno what it is about the franchise that has it so uniquely mismanaged.

My colleague told me it's perfect but he's always way too enthusiastic about any new stuff and that's how I know it is in fact not perfect but average at most.
That's what you get when you let people rape the production based on their fantasies. The first three movies were directed by differrent people which I guess led the later production from Scott downhill.

Budgets. That's what has always been mismanaged.
Alien as a world setting requires extensive props, sets and animatronics/CGI. And that's expensive.

They have never really got both the budget to do it justice, or the directors/producer support to make a proper sequel. The last time they had that was Alien 2. Even Alien 3 was showing it's budget limitations, and it hasn't gotten better since. Modern CGI helps, which is why Romulus was decent, but it really can't match real props.

Romulus was pretty cool. Decent call backs, decent horror, and pretty cool action. Also bring back the pulse rifle was the most important feature. It’s a shame the Prometheus trilogy was left unfinished, but Romulus at least gave us an entertaining “reboot”.

easy, it's what always happens when studio execs take a passion project away from its creator and hand it to untested producers (aka n00bs) and wring it dry of dollars until the franchise finally dies i.e. produces C-movie slop that nobody pays to watch

Literally any rifle you have right now. 30 rounds magdump of any intermediate rifle cartridge would probably pulverize one. My theory is more bullet mass would be more effective since the pressurized blood would act like reactive armor and deflect light projectiles, I'm taking my 7.62x39 or .300 blk over my .223. .308 would probably be about ideal for what most people have on hand. Wouldn't want to be stuck with a pistol caliber but I'd take my 1911 for sidearm.
>>64302559
Romulus was honestly pretty great, it mostly feels like "Alien's greatest hits" and doesn't do much new but me and gf liked it a lot in theaters. The show is more mixed and we're an episode behind but we still have been enjoying it. Get a couple beers and don't think too hard about it.

Romulus was good. It knew how to keep the tension, the visuals and the cinematography were great, there weren't any cliches that drag most horrors down, like characters acting retarded to move the plot forward
The only thing I didn't like about it was one specific scene that was meant as a bit of fanservice, a throwback to the older movies, but came off as somewhat eyeroll-inducing, to me at least
Alien: Earth is competent on its own (leans a little Blade Runner-ish with the way it treats humans, synths and cyborgs), but falls a little flat as an Alien show, because the xenomorphs aren't really utilized well and don't look very good. Though there is still one episode to go, so that last part may yet be subject to change. So far I'd rate it as 6/10, with the flaws that it has being quite fixable, should it be renewed for a second season - a higher visual effects budget and a director who can better understand the franchise's signature visual style
>>
>>64303192
>the acting itself looks terrible
minor spoiler, but several of the main characters are basically 8 year old kids transplanted into synth bodies, and since their brains no longer develop, they're incapable of "growing up". That's why, without context, the actors come off as retarded, when in actuality they're just doing their best to portray oversized grade schoolers

12g slugs seem to do the trick on the drones/warriors. Just don't let it get within 15ft of you. As for the bigger problems like the praetorians, queens, and predaliens, you're probably going to need something heavy like 45-70 or 6.5 sneedmore.

It only survives because

A) a bunch a space truckers were on a sealed spaceship without modern firearms

B) everybody who isn't in Aliens seems to lack a brainstem and cannot shoot something five feet away

The creature isn't even that dangerous, the entire franchise relies on every human having the IQ of stoned teenager from a Sleepaway Camp movie for anything to occur. Any halfway competent outfit could easily contain and enslave the creatures.

Newfags just don't get the appeal back in the day. It wasn't about "stronk female protagonist vs rapebug" it was roided up killer ape vs 7 foot tall Jamaican space lizard vs 8 foot tall rape bug which can sprint at 90mph.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygMWMIv0qPs It's sad that this is best we ever got.
>>
>>64297939
it has been demonstrated that if you trick it into shoving its dumbass head into a strong enough door, it will scream at you for the camera and that's when you shove a 12g shotgun in its mouth

hold up a sacrificial piece of.. literally anything to catch the acid backspray

also they only really successfully attack poorly armed colonies that aren't really armed very well, I bet a younger xeno is still pretty susceptible to 5.56 or 7.62... lets see how this fuckin alien faggot likes getting blasted in the dome by my mosin carbine and this steel core surplus ammo

in reality it scrambles across the walls at 65 mph and kills me instantly
>>
Overall I liked the show, but somehow the Xeno was one of the weaker parts. Aside from the flashback episode on the crashed ship. There was a lot of love for the original in it.
It would have worked using other alien species (and the eye one was fittingly creepy) but of course THE alien had to appear. The humans & synths/hybrids are where things shined. Cool that they set up a second season, but the final two episodes felt lacking compared to the ones that came before, Wendy's control over the computers really need to be explained better. My guess is that eventually the island gets nuked to prevent any other Aliens or Prodigy assets from breaking into the larger world.
>>
>>64304618
it is LITERALLY a guy in a rubber suit

this island bit kinda fuckin sucks, seeing the alien in broad daylight as a man in a rubber suit probably wasn't the greatest move.. and they it just smokes a whole squad in a flat open grass field where they all have a line of sight on it ripping the first guys neck open..

it's not like everyone is blinded by flickering emergency lights and spooky space ship fog in the fucking DARK... it's DAYTIME IN A FIELD

The new aliens are a clearly a complement for the traditional xenomorphs, the ticks are body horror in the ewwwww sense like the face huggers. The eye is physically weak but extremely agile and actually smart, not just a 'clever' beast. If it was just more ultimate lethal organisms it would be boring.
Except the flies, they are just plot a contrivance because they made the synths too op.

>>64302559
If you treat it as high budget fanfic with interesting ideas but meh execution, it's fine to kill time. Be ready to skip some stuff.

>>64302692
Totally disagree, the problem with the modern alien franchise is shit writing and that it's kinda impossible to retread stuff. If you make a horror movie you just make Alien again (Romulus had that problem at times), action flick just repeats Aliens. The new show had an excellent ideas but the script itself is horrid.

>>64297939
As for OP's question. It totally depends if you are in a ship/station, a barren planet or a planet with fauna/population centers.
>Inside a ship the motherfucker cannot be shot without risking decompression, get the small arms you have (you probably are a space trucker, sorry) and keep the group together. Try to use environmental hazards to your advantage. If you are unable crush/space/cook it, activate self destruct and evacuate in two big groups if possible.
>In a barren planet use all the big guns at your disposal, range is your friend, the xeno cannot jumpscare you in a open field.
>The facehuggers can use anything bigger than a house cat to reproduce and they do it fast, the biomass of any earth-like planet will become just xenos like in 6 months. If you are unable to confirm the destruction of all xenos, facehuggers and eggs in 48 hours, nuke your location in with everything the corpos got. Full quarantine, nobody gets out, including you. If you have no nukes and containment fails, get the fuck out of the planet.
