it has to be something that is legal until the amnesty period expires. A homemade tin can gun would not be legal, and would not get compensation, but it would be neat.
>>
>>64299927
So when they drop the link for the website to submit a claim we should ask /pol/ to help us crash that shit.
>>
>>64299977
Thats the plan
>>
>>64299944
>>64299974
probably why they've left it so vague, they'll want everyone to create a gun registry linking themselves to illegal items. later on (could be years or never) the government will slowly go through the list and send out small sums to select individuals on an arbitrary basis.

not to mention they already said they'd be donating firearms to the war in Ukraine. I'm a pacifist and refuse to support any war of proliferation or aggression in any way, so even if i owned guns on the list i couldn't give them up for moral and ethical and religious reasons.

You will 100% need a valid PAL number, and I don't believe anyone knows the methodology behind handing out PAL numbers (one would hope it wouldn't just be like "we started at 100000 and went to 100001, 100002 etc.")
>>
Calling it now
>pilot project goes through
>basically no one participates because the government fucks everything up

>>
What are the chances of semi auto 22LR rifles getting banned?
>>
>>64300045
pretty low at this point, but at the same time, anything is on the table. I don't think it matters much anymore, but things like the 10/22 are so numerous that they're not likely to ever get banned. They also have built in magazine cap provisions (like the m1 garand) which can help prevent b&s somehow
>>
>>64300045
100%, they've made it clear they want you to own nothing eventually. That means nothing. Not single shot bolt action .22s. I'm surprised they haven't brought in a license for bows and crossbows yet.
>>
>>64300000
>>64300013
That's still a loss for us. Until we return to regular legal use, they are winning. Amnesty is bullshit, its supposed to be shot or sold not collecting dust.

If they keep extending the amnesty for 20 years thats a total victory for them, they'll have stopped a whole generation of gun owners from having anything. We're 5 years in now, only 15 left, they just extended for another year today.
>>
Wait is this "buy back" only for the original "assualt weapons ban" list from 2020?
>>
>>64300060
no, it's for any of the guns banned between 2020 and 2024 - you can search up whatever model you have here:
https://www.canada.ca/en/public-safety-canada/campaigns/firearms-buyback/individual-lists-firearms-lower-upper-receivers/list-firearms-individuals.html

is this shit even legal (not that it matters)?
>>
>>64300059
Yeah perpetual "amnesty" has the same effect as an outright confiscation in theory. Of course the guns will still exist and be out there in the wild, which they don't like.
>>
>>64300045
They already banned a bunch of them
>>
>>64300075
>thanks for giving us your shit for free, get fucked
No, at that point you're allowed to either depend on the amnesty or destroy it yourself, or have it deactivated, fortunately. It's fucking stupid, though.
>>
>>64300075
>is this shit even legal (not that it matters)?
anything the government does is legal unless they (later on) investigate themselves and determine they broke the law (which won't happen, see trucker protest beatdowns)
>>
>>64300045
After they're satisfied that semi-autos are mostly gone, they'll go after pump actions because they're common in video games.
Remember anon, the whole point is to just make the entire gun hobby totally unappealing to anyone, the end goal is there being absolutely nothing on the market someone might consider cool enough to get a license for.
>>
>>64300045
They already banned the GSG-22s, Chiappa M1-22 and Kriss Vector 22s. All previously Non-Restricted.
They're clearly willing to do it.
>>
>>64300045
GSG .22's are gone, the STG, MP40, and the MP5 looking ones were all banned recently. If it looks scary it will be banned. After the scary ones are gone they'll come for the grandpa ones.

>>64300075
>is this shit even legal (not that it matters)?
Well if they tried it with any other form of property it would be extremely illegal. If they tried to ban personal vehicles and then stole everyones vehicle and sold it to another country, that would be criminal. If they banned phones and said you have to turn it in or go to jail, that would be illegal. But because only a small % of the country has firearms, the gov is getting away with it. Even though it is completely opposite of everything on paper regarding personal property rights.
>>
>>64300058
If the current government wanted you to own nothing eventually, Provost would have been the one in charge of this instead of Gary the semi-based retard. I think they just want to do the bare minimum to deliver on what Justin promised Quebec, claim victory and get on to clearing out the smuggled weapons that get used for crimes.
>>
>>64300103
under estimating the evil intent of these people is your biggest mistake. why do you think Justin plowed ahead with the gun banning despite it being WILDLY unpopular among most Canadians - including people who usually don't even care about guns?

they want us completely without firearms so they can roll into the next phase of oppression, make no mistake. this isn't just a PR stunt, it's laying the framework for far more evil shit decades from now. you're naive if you think otherwise.

>>64300203
Buy a folding stock one so you can sneak it innawoods after they get banned.
>>
>>64300203
Ideally inspect it in person. If not, get a Chinese one at this point, for these reasons:

-Russian ones are, on average, several decades older and have much more wear and tear on them
-Russian ones aren't really worth the extra price point unless you're a collector
-Chinese ones are largely unissued at this point, meaning you're getting a numbers-matching gun that's been stored in cosmoline for decades (this is a good thing)
-the plastic-stock ones are usually rough-use guns with fucked stocks that are dismantled and the actions/barrels are set into plastic furniture since the wood's fucked - this speaks to the gun's overall condition and treatment, not the best buy
-plastic stocks make the gun harder to full disassemble too

It's for anything on the banned list, all of it is considered prohibited at this point. Doesn't matter if it was R or NR before. You can register it on their database, then hand it over to them, then wait and see if they give you a few hundred dollars. If you don't want to do that you have to permanently destroy or deactivate it so it's no longer a working firearm.

Of course then you run the risk of possessing a modern replica firearm which is also illegal in some ways (ever wonder why you can only buy replica Flintlocks and not replica MG42s?).

OR you can just not do anything and retain your private property that you bought with your own hard earned money.

>>64300799
You MIGHT receive compensation. No guarantee. They will decide later on, after you tell them what guns you have.

Australians and Britons are losing their minds over this too, they're all yelling and telling everyone to never give up a single thing.

Drill a hole in the chamber, grind off half the bolt, pin and weld the muzzle and breach, and weld every single moving part (including the magazine) to the frame.

Yeah the amnesty is extended to October 2026 but according to their timeline they want everyone to submit a list of prohibs to turn in by the end of this year so that confiscations can start in early 2026. Most likely they're trying to use the Cape Breton experiment and evidence of large-scale public participation to convince other police forces to participate in collecting prohibs, and if they don't have strong evidence of success by the end of the year then negotiations with major police forces will extend past the new amnesty deadlin.

I've gotten a letter for one firearm that's bad/banned and honestly it's so pathetic to think that it's a piece of history they want destroyed (M1 Carbine) so in the listing, it's worth even more than I paid for it but I'm just not happy with even giving it up.

I'd rather have it just sit in my safe and use what I can for my range days but that's worrisome and a topic of conversation for those who use rifles specifically for competitive shooting.

What's the course of action here, are they actually going to door knock for it or just keep pushing back the insanity that even the guy in charge himself has said was dumb?

They literally can't door kick, basically every police force in the country has outright told them "this is fucking stupid and we don't have the manpower to do shit" and every provincial government has done much the same, they have no one to enforce a door to door confiscation, the hope is that gun owners who didn't comply will just slowly disappear.

>Public Safety Officials also confirmed in a technical briefing today that the $742M money pot for the compensation program is for 152,000 guns. Anyone who applies over and above that will get nothing. You won't know if you qualify until you give them your list and they review it. Once they have your list you're screwed. Those with previously restricted will have automatic lists filled out with those firearms on them. Owners in AB and SK whose government will not allow the program will get nothing and be in illegal possession of prohibited firearms and subject to criminality once the amnesty expires. Businesses have used $22M of their $33.5M share of the money pot (it's all the same pot). Crypto owners get nothing and are not protected by the amnesty. They're considered criminals now. There are about 126,000 previously restricted firearms out there, which they know about. Only another 26,000 guns will be considered.

What happened today is a prerequisite condition for civil war. Its extremely dangerous to write off huge chunks of your country as criminals.

Yes and no, using Quebec as an example, they set up their own registry and force local businesses to comply, but they can't force individuals, at least not with the threat of prison or loss of license since it's out of their jurisdiction. All they can do is temporary seize them until you register them and give a fine. From what i know, the police isn't applying these laws because they don't want someone to bring it to court and eventually to the supreme court.

It’s still not clear if this is $740 mil for the program as a whole or just for the compensation. If it’s the program as a whole, they aren’t getting even a a fraction of that number processed before their are out of money.
>>
>In a technical briefing, senior government officials said the program is designed to collect and destroy nearly 180,000 banned firearms, and indicated there was a “compliance plan” that would remind registered gun owners about their duty to participate, including with phone calls or in person visits if necessary.

>They also insisted the program would be implemented across the country, even in provinces like Alberta and Saskatchewan that have added roadblocks, or in areas under jurisdiction of police forces — including the Ontario Provincial Police — that are refusing to participate directly. That could be through RCMP support or through mobile collection units, they said.

Anyone looking forward to the in-person visits "reminding" you to hand in your guns to the mobile collection units?

Knowing this government this is the whole program. So take half that number in wages and (((consulting fees))) and you are closer to what may possibly potentially be available.
Not that it matters anyways, fuck these gungrabbing faggots, they can cry while I whisper 'niggers tongue my anus' into their ears as we all dont comply

It’s not even about compliance anymore. The government has made clear its intent to forceibly make me into a criminal in spite of the fact that I seem to refuse to commit crimes. So be it then. Fuck these godless faggots, criminal it is.

>tfw the Liberals gun grab is even more fucked than we thought

So that leaked audio from the public safety minister? Turns out the $742M "buyback budget" is complete smoke and mirrors.

Here's the real breakdown:
- Total allocated: $742M since 2020
- ACTUAL compensation for guns: Only ~$248M
- Rest goes to: admin costs, IBM consultants, bureaucrat salaries, collection/storage/destruction, etc.

With industry pricing (~$1800 avg per gun), that $248M covers maybe 138k firearms MAX.

But here's the kicker - their estimates are based on 13-YEAR-OLD DATA from 2012, just bumped up 25% for "market growth." Meanwhile industry estimates (based on actual import records) show ~518k prohibited firearms in circulation.

So even with their cooked books:
- Gov estimate (150k guns): Budget covers ~92%
- Reality estimate (518k guns): Budget covers ~27%

>mfw they spent $67M on bureaucrats before collecting a single gun from individuals
>mfw they're using decade-old spreadsheets to plan a billion-dollar confiscation
>mfw the minister got caught on tape saying it won't work

Absolute state of this country. They'll run out of money after grabbing 1/4 of the guns and then what? More extensions? More budgets?

The whole thing is a grift wrapped in a failure wrapped in political theater.
>>
>>64302240
yeah but they also believe people will choose to deactivate instead of turn in

Nothing. That’s the craziest part in all this. They expect them to be turned in with no compensation. They’re saying basically:

“Better turn em’ in quick before the money runs out and you get nothing for it!”

I think the renegade is the most compatible with ar parts. Plus you can just buy the receiver kit and use your existing parts.
The troy pump is sold out everywhere and new shipments might be fucky because of the tariff situation. There's also the taipan but it has a bunch of proprietary elements.
>>64302407
Plain straight pulls are even worse. Pumps allow an actually decent fire rate and at least you can use barrels shorter than 18.5

I work at a rental range, we have a Troy pump 223 in the rental fleet. It's a complete piece of shit. Aside from customers constantly short stroking it (user error) the op-rod is prone to disconnecting from the bolt, which leaves the gun out of battery with the pump forward. I'd rather a straight pull or a Remington7600 over that piece of crap.
Also the MRX Bison 223 is equally garbage and loves to randomly shit parts like the extractor.

All manual action .223/5.56 rifles are inherently homosexual.
Though, a straight and based and not gay one could theoretically exist, it would need to be of similar size and weight to a savage rascal, to pull it off.

thats like saying .308 bolt actions are gay

>>
>>64302894
Nah, theyre based. aslong as they arent to big or heavy, but being a fullsize bullet they are obviously entitled to be larger and heavier than a .223 manual.
>>
problem being that .223 bolts are usually the same size and weight as their .308 model equivalent. You are hauling just as much ass around with you to shoot a boolit of only half the power.
>>
>>64302926
yeah but like a .300wm can weigh the same as a .308 gun
>>
>>64302939
Yeah and thats probably why .300wm is even more based than .308
its basically .308+P+++
