Furries are a plot by werewolves to desensitize us to their true form, it’s only partially done, but they first started with sport mascots, then furries are becoming more and more visible in the public eye, soon you’ll see them out and about every day in metropolitan cities. They will become a protected class even. Then true werewolves will be free to roam in the true beastly form. Similarly to how vampires are using goths to normalize their appearance.

You should absolutely invest in silver bullets. And keep a clove of garlic in your abode.

I inspected every part side by side. They will be marked IDENTICAL, COMPATIBLE, or INCOMPATIBLE. The difference between "IDENTICAL" and "COMPATIBLE" in most cases is superficial casting/MIM ejector alterations, not dimensional differences. I do not consider color/finish differences alone to be "different" so some things that are dimensionally and visually identical but for color are marked IDENTICAL but you can judge that for yourself.

Realistically often should you do a full teardown of your weapon for cleaning/lube? I'm a new gun owner and I have a feeling that if I took mine apart I would lose something or simply be unable to put it back together.
>>
>>64301550
Every gun I buy, I take apart and put back together ten times in a row just so I can get a good handle for how it works/goes together.

When a gun is in my rotation, I'll lube maybe once a month but I only clean if I get mechanical failures (rare)
>>
>>64301550
A field strip should be all you need to do to clean, it’s not until very high round counts 10k+ would you be required to clean out extractor channel and perhaps the firing pin fire

So as we can see when James Reeves said "every single part was changed," that was hyperbole. It was false. Not only are a number of parts indistinguishably identical, MOST small parts are completely interchangeable between the two guns. When Daniel Defense vehemently insisted to me that their disconnector would not fit in a Hudson, they were wrong. Here is a Daniel Defense disconnector in my old Hudson frame. It has returned full function to the gun--no more dropped resets.

I confirmed all relevant parts interchangeability with a pencil test.

Multiple guns of the same caliber? y/n? Seems kinda pointless to me but I'm very new. I just have single glock 17 and don't know what to get for my second gun. Another handgun, a rifle like an AR or maybe even a shotgun.
>>
>>64301797
Thanks for the tips, friend.
>>
>>64301821
Yes. Just having to buy massive piles of 9mm makes life so much easier. You don’t have to bring different ammo types to the range and run out of ammo of the gun you want to shoot
>>
>>64301821
You could get a PCC (pistol caliber carbine) in 9mm. It would be cost effective since they share ammo. As far as what to get next, it would depend on your tastes and your needs. You have a very practical gun in the Glock 17 so you can either get another very practical weapon (an AR) or get something you think is just cool like a revolver or 1911.

Personally, I think every American of sound mind and body should own, operate and maintain an AR.
>>
>>64301822
I would also make sure you shoot A LOT. 9mm is pretty cheap so you can get a lot of practice in. Don't make ANY changes to your gun until you've shot at least a couple thousand through it.

It's amazing how mounting pistol dots is so eclectic and hard to find information on.
I've had a dot come loose twice.
So far Ive seen
>scrub all the threads with acetone
>use loctite 234 over 242
>apply a drop of E6000 adhesive between all of the mounting surfaces
What pisses me off the most is the complete lack of hardware standards, its a horrible mix of SAE, countersink angles and Metric.
I think all of the optics companies should come to a gentleman's agreement over standardizing proper hardware and mounting solutions...

Steyr m9a2 project I've been working on.

The slide was cut for a Glock MOS footprint for a Holosun SCS, which was one of the only optic that could realistically cotwintness. Ended up having to relocate the rear dovetail and have new rear sight metal printed, thankfully keeping the trapezoid sights.

Grabbing a light soon and going to try making my own kydex holster, anyone given it a shot?

An utterly stupid purchase but something I'm willing to liquidate alot of my unshot guns to have

YOUR OPTIC MOUNT IS NOT HIGH TEMP YOU STUPID RETARD

I have maybe 5k rounds on my PX4 compact with an RMR HD using vibratite without issue. Vibratite withstands 10mm recoil fine.

vibratite needs 20-30mins to cure onto the screws before you install them, I do not think it needs oxygen after that.

The FRT fires 1,900 rounds per minute, but becomes single file when there's a can on the end (even a flow can). Otherwise, that looks like a sweet rig. The brace will help a lot, as dumping a mag in under a second really makes the thing climb, even if just .22 lr.

Just traded my VP9 for a .40 P229 without knowing anything. I got it because it looks good, that's about it. I'm a certified modern Sig hater but I decided that if it was good enough for the military it's good enough for me
Questions
1) I'm pretty sure it's an American slide. No german proofs, it just says "frame made in germany." I've also dated it to early mid 90s. Are these gtg or has nu-sig monkey fucked them?
2) should I get a 357 sig barrel or keep it in 40? I kind of wanted a gun that wasn't 9 in case of ammo shortages but I feel like this would be a good gun to experiment with pistol caliber ballistics
3) why does it look/feel so fucking nice

Nta but I’ve never been able to get the hammer pin out so I never changed my hammer spring out. Oh well. Trs was easy.
>>
>>64303003
Odd since I don't remember having any issue with that with either of my M9s, but you don't actually have to remove the hammer pin. You can just tap out the pin holding the lanyard in place and replace the hammer spring that way.
>>
Speaking of 92fs/m9 guns, I’m thinking about sending mine off for frame safety. Is there any reason I shouldn’t? Figuring I can get the front sight modded for fiber in the same swing.
>>
>>64303455
Personally I don't think it's worth it. I've never used the safety on my Beretta while carrying it as I consider the DA pull adequate to the task.
>>
>>64301754
A classic choice. Excellent.
>>
>>64303544
I’m early into my conversions but afaik da functionality is preserved. Supposedly some feature decocker provisions can be made but unsure of what that entails. My angle is that it may play nicer with legacy optic mounts, I.e. aimtech. Operacion pimp my 92fs. Not sure what other work could be done. I do kind of like the Italian rollmark but front serrations could be groovy.

No, since ghosting is only possible with the use of a gunbroker parts kit from a ghost or the LTT NP3 parts kit. Several small parts like the take down lever button and trigger pin are impossible to source in stainless steel so they can be only found in parts kits and Langdon’s NP3 kit

Getting another safety lever doesn’t make sense when you’re going to get a decocker lever

Can't remember if I posted this here already or not, but we finally got Spike's pistol. That's another gun off the bucket list for me.
I'd look at the modern renditions of the Jericho or other variants but just couldn't accept them as a substitute. I knew that I had to get the EXACT same model. And honestly> I see now why they moved the safety to the frame instead of the slide.
I wanna say that I fucking love this gun and everything it means to me, but that's just a small little gripe that I have with it. Funny how the slide safety was the whole reason I tracked this model down, only to kind of prefer the frame safety.
>>
>>64301754

What is your favorite cheap ammo? I have some WWB coming in today and I wanna order a big-boy 1000 round pack. Is it worth it to pay a little extra for Blazer or Federal?
>>
>>64304390
On /k/ or hg?
If it requires actual milling of the frame I'd want to try it on a clapped out trade-in before potentially ruining a nice one. Would be ultra sick in your auto 9 tho
>>
>>64304539
I like Blazer Brass 124 at its price point. I think it’s plated rather than jacketed like Federal, but I don’t notice any difference in fouling. WWB is noticeably dirtier to me. The Winchester NATO stuff is notably spicy, if you want that.
>>
>>64304449
I don’t, but I can’t imagine the Loks are substantively thinner, if at all. The VZ/WC ones are like sub-millimeter at the thinnest point, and only swell out to accommodate the screws.

I also think that ultra thin grips are probably not necessary, and I say this as a handlet.
>>
>>64304539
Anything brass that's cheap and made in the West. If I have a choice I'd pick Blazer, Federal or another of the mousefart ammos cause I like low recoil when blastin :) I also like Magtech as it tends to be a little more accurate in many of my guns, but it's a little spicier than average. If you are looking at Winchester Service Grade that stuff is HOT, quite powerful, not weak, fyi

https://ammoseek.com/ammo/9mm-luger?sh=lowest&co=new&ca=brass&ekw=k7%20bps%20republ%20lax%20sterl%20ytr%20scorp%20maxxtech%20ATS%20turan%20x-for%20mesk%20igman%202a%20zsr%20panth
I'm not seeing any GREAT deals at the moment but if I were buying a case I'd probably go for the Blazer 115, $218 shipped, from Velocity. Matter of fact I think I will :)

What is "a little extra" in your context? What prices for which products are you looking at

Any anons happy with Walther PDP these days? I'm looking at getting something to bedside/carry/drill with besides my CZ PCR. Local shop had the compact 4" with the pro trigger and an ACRO mounted to cowitness for like $1100. Seemed like a great setup and it felt nice in the hand.
Also handled the shadow 2 carry and was a bit disappointed. Would be cool to have, but pretty overpriced.
>>
>>64306402
Based. Even if it is beat to shit, that's not necessarily a bad thing. It means you can either beat on it some more or have some fun refurbishing it. Either way, for $360, you're doing pretty good.
>>
>>64306422
I'm very interested in a full size PDP. I've got huge ass hands and I need a home defense. Walther has had glowing reviews from every gun nut I've spoken to recently.
>>
>>64306455
At that price as long as it shoots decent groups I don't care. If it's super banged up I'll just spray paint it fucking purple or do some other retarded shit with it lol. I bought it to use as a nightstand gun not a museum piece.
>>
>>64306470
That's basically what i've been seeing as well. Pro trigger was really nice, i don't really need a magwell or the basepads but its a nice bonus. Ironically the ACRO is kinda the turn off at this point. I don't have much RDS opinion but i've not like shooting through the ACRO window and would probably just do an RMR. I'll miss the deep cowitness cut though.

the PDP was on my shortlist of handguns to get and once i got one, i ordered the optics plate, slapped an optic on it, took it to the range, and...
Its just another strikerslop
It's got a good trigger out of the box, sure, but i've modded glocks and a sig p320 + 365 to have better triggers. I didn't notice any kind of recoil management better than what i've used before.

Its a GREAT striker handgun thats basically a buy once cry once, but its literally nothing special. You'd need to start looking into the steel frames or the Q3 match or investing in compensators and all that shit to get a truly legendary handgun.
>>
>>64306533
Yeah i've not heard anyone say anything that paints it as something magical. I'm just looking for something that shoots really nice out of the box in a package that I can carry. >>

My opinion is the 1911 desperately needs the beaver tail and trigger guard undercut. The colt classic is called the classic since the average standard 1911s look nothing like the old "classic" ones. Nobody wants a year 1911 1911 for shooting and use.

Thoughts and recommendations on a 1911 if you don't mind spending more on one than a typical Glock, but don't want to spend AR money on a pistol? The Springfield Armory Garrison seems like a good balance, and I like the wood grips. Plus, it would be neat to go for something in .45 ACP to experience something other than 9mm. I don't mind going a little more expensive, but over 1k for a pistol is too much for my taste unless it's something truly worth it.
Insight on wheelguns is also appreciated, but not as much of a priority, and I'd probably end up going full yeehaw boomer on one of those.

The margins between modern handguns are, well, marginal. The biggest issue is that with some of the less expensive/popular guns, you might be faced with a lack of options for holster and parts.
The only real exception is that there is a significant safety concern surrounding the SIG P320. It would probably be best to avoid it.

I’m a manlet and the full sized USP .45 actually is great for small hands.
Because it’s a paddle release, the mag drops with no change in grip if you use your pointer finger. The feel is great in the hand. Significantly easier to use for me than a stock 92fs or m11a1 which are the two 9mms I have the most time with.
>>

What should be done for beretta 92 threading? Should I thread the oem barrel or source a dedicated threaded barrel? If so, who makes the best? concern is being thread length on threading the oem but I don’t know a whole lot about this stuff.
>>
>>64309623
Beretta OEM 1/2-28 threaded barrels are like 160 on sale from beretta during one of their holiday sales. I would not use anything other than a OEM barrel except maybe the Jarvis .575-40 threaded barrel to exclusively use their compensator only with it
>>
>>64309632
Bless. It will be done. I’m sending it off for some work so wasn’t sure if it was worth it. Havent done a barrel swap before. Is it fairly okay to do or takes some work?

Can anyone help identify what this mounting system is for the red dot? Yes it’s from Stalker Analmeme. I tried searching up “rail mounted red dot” and it seems they’re mainly for 2011 race guns. Are there any other instances of this kinda setup? I don’t plan on using it, I’m just curious if it’s more common than one gun type.
>>
>>64310260
Carver universal mount. Neumount, there’s dozens of these mounts

FAB defense made a bunch
>>
>>64310260
Yes, lots of companies used to make rail mount systems before milling slides became commonplace. They're pretty much only found on 2011 race guns now because that's what's best for Open division.

>>64311070
depending on the frame and slide you probably dont even need to shorten it at all.

Info online is all fucking wrong now that AI scrapes reddit for fuddlore.
Back when i first got my 96 i got into arguments with people here on /hg/ because all i did was buy a 9mm barrel and it worked. Tons of screeching about extractors and dimensions and breech faces, its all bullshit. If it fits it ships.
The thing is all the slide safety beretta frames tend to be extremely similar, its the slides that vary in thickness and length and where the little notch for the slide lock is, etc.
So if you already have a compact slide, just slap it on your frame and see what happens. Chances are the dust cover is NOT going to be the thing that causes problems and wont need to be shortened. You could even run full size slides on compact frames if you dont mind a gap.
>>
>>64311070
I can’t imagine why you would ever do such a thing, berettas are cheap. Just buy another
>>
>>64311144
Compact/centurion slide rails are shorter, you went centurion to centurion and did not go full-size to centurion.
>>
>>64311153
case in point, this guy
shorter rails dont matter when the whole fucking slide is cut with one long rail notch from tip to tail
>>
>>64311163
The guide rod and recoil assembly is shorter, I am not home to compare the full-size and compact size together but the old beretta Fudd fourm said that compact on full-size frame does not work reliably. That’s why there is a difference in frames between full-size and compact in slide rails dimensions.

I wonder if it’s like a 1911 and you risk frame battering
>>
>>64311144
>>64311148
This may be insanity, but a beretta compact slide on a fs frame. Afaik could use same barrel but then thread that. Most components could be swapped I'd like to think and all it would take is the sacrifice of one italian frame.

Go ahead and ruin a frame for no reason. Without shortening the slide rails you will batter the frame, and if you shorten them then you took off the anodized layer and have softer aluminum (pretty sure that’s how it works) which still gets battered

It's really simple, glock 43 or shield plus. It might seem stupid at first glance, because they are also in 9mm, so redundant, but there is a significant size difference, you might be more likely to carry around a 43 rather than a 17.
