The Girandoni supposedly could hit 1000fps muzzle velocity. Could you theoretically build a modern pneumatic rifle that can equal the muzzle velocity and energy of a firearm, using air/co2 or other compressed gas?
>>64303678This is the most slide thread of worthless slide threads. You can buy a ton of pneumatic rifles that equal a firearm (pistol). If you deserved to breathe pneumatically you'd have found that out before coming to waste peoples time on four channel dot com.
>>64303698I know that, dickhead, but none of them come close to the muzzle energy or velocity of an actual firearm, hence the question. The closest thing out there is the HD-68.
>>64303829How the fuck do you know some obscure "home defense revolver" and not know of ANY of the pile of big caliber air rifles that are 20x as powerful as it and that that people actually use to actually hunt deer every year?
>>64303678Isreal is working on a pneumatic tank for operations in a gun free zone in Gaza.
>>64303698>>64303869why are you so fucking angry dude?
>>64304461https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternal_SeptemberIt just gets worse every year.
>>64304495yeah this is so much worse than the five million "AK vs AR" threads from the halcyon days of 4chan's youth. dumbass
AkchuallyMy self modded PCP rifle shoots .25 slug pellets @ 1150 fps and my modded silencer makes it quitter than a fart.It make "law enforcement" shit bricks. :)
>>64304670Quietter* damn autocorrect!
>>64304670>quitter than a fart.Fart quitter.
>>64303678Yes, you can buy them off the shelf. AEA is a good starting point: https://www.aeaprecisionairguns.com/
Think AEA is working on a 95 cal rifle. I don't know anything about muzzle energy or what the fuck ever. Not sure the engineering of today is capable of making pressurized air more shooty and boomy than chemical propellants. Think we are stuck with playing with the projectiles and the benefits of pneumatic weapons, such as potentially dramatically cheaper and more accessible ammunition, rather than trying to make it a better version of a modern firearm.
>>64304638Yeah, it is, 100%. A dumbass debate being rehashed is one thing. At least the people involved have some fucking interest and the pretense of knowledge about their interest."Why doesn't anyone make vehicles that run off of anything but gasoline?" when you drive past stations selling diesel on the way is another level of retarded. It's just a step or two up from "could you theoretically build a modern smokeless powder weapon that can equal the muzzle velocity and energy of a normal gunpowder-based firearm?" You can buy a whole collection of them right off the shelf, retard.
>>64304703blah blah fucking blah
>>64304727someones mad they got called out
Are Hatsan airguns worth considering?
>>64303698Oh no the poor uki/slava/gaza/idf slide thread got pushed off the weapons board, what will we do? Where will we go?
>>64303678Is that the rifle Lewis & Clark took with them?>fun fact, couple of days ago was the 250 anniversary of Lewis & Clark returning from their road trip
>>64305336Better question, if we could travel back in time and give them a gun from modern times. Which one would we give them?
>>6430556019th century flintlock because they weren't fighting anything serious and the guns they did have were being marketed and sold to the natives
>>64305560>Lewis & Clark>Better question, if we could travel back in time and give them a gun from modern times. Which one would we give them?Their air rifle was smart. And they took powder in lead casks, which kept powder dry and supplied them with lead. When they got to the Oregon coast they wintered in what is now Astoria Oregon. And ate fish. Lots and lots of fish.Their diaries speak of being beyond tired of fish diet. And the overwhelming joy of spring and something other than fish to eat.So, maybe a solar dehydrator?Or perhaps a note to salt every field within 50 miles of the Pacific coast>"trust me, this land will be full of douche bags that hate you and will shit all over your great accomplishment. Salt the fields and deny this land to future generations"
>>64303678>plapplapplapThis is the sound of a air rifle with .44 mag power hitting ballistic gel.
Oh boy the catalog just got filled with a bunch of harmless but retarded threads. Surely this is purely organic posting.
>>64303698I'm expecting one of the usual "are mechs realistic lol" threads soon, assuming the usual trends of slide threads hold up.
>>64306337>Or perhaps a note to salt every field within 50 miles of the Pacific coastthis shit is so tiresome
>>64303678There's a fundamental misunderstanding of how CO2 works for airguns. It's not compressed in the same way that air is compressed for PCP. CO2 used in airguns is liquid and boils off until it reaches a saturation pressure. The resultant gas is what is used as propellent. Picrel is an explanation from a Hammerli in the 60's.
