Yes, I know, shilltube thumbnail, but as someone who doesn't own a rifle but am looking for my first, this thing really looks appealing. Compact OAL, designed for suppression, easy takedown, easy caliber swap to .223 (even though I probably will never do it) and the ability to turn the gas off for recreation or le silent death meme. Will it be a mistake to drop $2000 on a plastic gun?I heard whispers of stocks cracking, and I guess I am worried about the trigger too.
Stock will probably be fine or at least will have warranty.AUG's have shit triggers but that's just the way things are. Back in the 70's the designers didn't really give two shits about the trigger feel of an infantry assault rifle.
>>64304265I really don't recommend it. That's a lot of money to drop on a whim, and the AUG has a lot of things working against it at that price point. Particularly a really horrible trigger (typical of early bullpup designs) which will make it challenging to shoot well for a beginner. Also 300 BLK is a specialized cartridge that is considerably more expensive than 223/5.56mm and less capable overall. It is specifically designed around suppressor shooting and short barrels, the latter of which is less relevant on a bullpup configuration since you can have a full length barrel on a shorter overall length anyway.Just get an AR in 5.56mm and ease yourself in that way. It'll be much cheaper, better in most ways, easier to reconfigure to your needs as you develop your skills and learn what you do/don't like and overall easier to use. If you decide it isn't for you, then you aren't out much money.I'll give you a lot of credit for at least getting a sanity check first, usually newbies who get excited about something that seems good on paper just go for it and find out they fucked up $2000+ later.
AUGs will not suppress due to the tappet. There was a company that made a suppressor for the AUG that covered the tappet, but I'm not sure they are around anymore
>>64304317>AUGs will not suppressHuh? I've watched a few video and it seems to work fine, what you do mean?
>>64304265if its your first gun buy an ar15dont buy a glock buy something else
>>64304313>usually newbies who get excited about something that seems good on paper just go for it and find out they fucked up $2000+ later.GET OUTTA MY HEAD.
>>64304265>.300 memeout AUG>6.5 grendel never>.40 s&w police version neverAt least 9mm conversions are attainable. I wish the WLVRN didnt suck, 6.5 CM bullpup seems kino
If you have money to spend then it's way better than buying funko pops, collecting pokemon cards, or video game consoles.
>>64304286I don't think I've ever heard of anyone say anything nice about any trigger on any rifle ever, aside from maybe the XCR.
>>64304700You'll get used to it. People say the L85 trigger is shit (and it is) but I uses it so much I didn't carem
>>64304339they suck with a can. too much gas comes out of the gas plugsource: my aug
>>64304762Isn't that a short barrel though? Would that affect the gas?
>>64304265should NOT be your first rifle. I think youll regret it. get an AR15 or... really anything but a silly bullpup. or, if its the only gun that you actually like and will shoot, then go ahead whateva..
>>64304944it's 16" so no. thats a scar 15p 7.5" beneath it
>>64304265Not in 300blk. But honeslty get whatever gun seems cool and cheap to blast with reckless abandon for your first, if that's the AUG then get the AUG though I'd recommend a Mav88 to maximize your dollar to fun ratio. To be a contrarian, don't get an AR, they're just plain not fun to shoot and 5.56 is like 40cpr minimum which is like double the cost of cheap 12ga birdshot or 9mm fmj
>>64304562My favorite one I encountered in the wild was a Noreen Arms .30-06 AR (because it was obviously so much better than 308) with a $20 Tasco scope and Tulammo. That guy learned a lot that day.
>>64304265Dont buy 300 blackout cause its a meme caliber thats also alot more expensive than 5.56 and youll probably not be able to or wont want to shoot it as much. If youre deadset on getting an aug cause they look cool or whatever movie or video game brought you to them, wait another couple months for the black friday sales, ive seen them for under $1500 from psa
>>64304265What the absolute fuckWhat would make someone try to bullpup a blackout? The entire point is...What
>>64304627If i wanted this shit done to my gun, what do I even Google to find a service that does this
>>64304265You could get a shorter package for less money with an Anderson lower and a PSA upper. More money for optics and accessories. The AUG used to be my favorite gun until I got old enough to buy and use guns and felt how shit the trigger was.
>>64305315I think it's a wrap, the person said they got it done at a "vinyl and automotive shop" with the design "taken directly from the game files".
>>64305315raid research did this one
>>64304339You cannot stop gas from leaking out of the operating system which means whatever sound reduction you get from the muzzle is worthless because full power gas escapes the tappet with every shot. It doesn't matter if you use subsonic ammo. Think of it like a revolver's cylinder gap, putting a silencer on a revolver is completely retarded for that reason. Or more accurately think of it like putting a silencer on a pistol with a ported barrel.
>>64304762Sexy colors
>>64305411here she is now
>>64305426Whoa, never seen a bipod on an Aug before
>>64305444it's not just the bipodthat's the LMG barrelwhich is NOT sold in Austria of all places - fuck you Steyr - you deserve to go bankrupt
>>64305399Does this still happen with the gas turned off?
>>64305399Not saying you're wrong because I'm ignorant on this issue but assuming you're right... are the thousands if not tens of thousands of people running cans on their AUGs retarded? There are photos of even the Austrian military with suppressed AUGs, are they wrong too? I wasn't able to find out people talking specifically about the issue but I did find this integral suppressor prototype which suppresses the gas bleedoff too.If true that's a bummer because I really want something "hearing safe" at least with subsonics,
>>64304317>>64305399Been using a Sandman-S on mine for years, what are you on about? Steyr even sells a gas regulator for the AUG meant to be used with suppressors...I can tell you that it absolutely suppresses the report, tappet or otherwise.
>>64305426What's with the threading on that funky muzzle brake?
>>64305297why are you typing like you're trying to maximize retweets?
>>64305729Too much foreign influence. I'll return to the classics.
>>64305582There's 2 types of suppressor people. There's it's hearing safe/silentThen there I don't really give a shit if it's hearing safe as long as it's quieter than having no surpressor People expecting hearing safe think everything that isn't hearing safet is useless
>>64304265>twist rate isn't even 1:5 as intended and required for not-PCC terminal ballisticsOne in fucking EIGHT.
>>64304265>AUG mentionedBased. Can’t go wrong with an AUG. Trigger issues are overblown
>>64306084>1:5Kevin Brittingham and his meme fast twists are retarded. Granted I also think .300 Blackout subsonic is a subpar solution and is barely on the edge of viability, 338 ARC or 350 Legend make more sense but those will probably never be popular
t. James responding to a summon postwhoever says that these can't be suppressed is not totally retarded, it's just old lore now. Steyr put a lot of work into it and KNS makes a 40 (yeah, forty) position regulator that works great. The 300BLK AUG works well with legit .300BLK. If you want to know the difference between "real" .300BLK and everything else, go to Q's instagram page and they have an excellent running sticky showing all of the legit .300BLK rounds versus the shit that won't work in many guns. I can't get one particular type of Hornady (I think maybe the SUB-X, but I could be wrong) to work in any of my .300BLK guns.Trigger is an easy fix, just drop in a Ratworks sear and you have an objectively good trigger.Fuck you all I'll see you tomorrow.- James
>>64306514TY James, assuming you come back to the thread, do you have a dedicated video on the 300BLK on the way now that the gun is available? Absolutely no one I can find has done a video dedicated to the 300blk version. I would love to know if it's hearing safe with subs and how gassy it is
Does anyone know why on earth you'd chamber a bullpup in a round that only needs 11 inches of barrel at most? Seems like this would defeat the point of a bullpup which is long barrels in compact packages.
>>64306554The more important and noteworthy aspect of bullpups is how they bring the weight closer to your body and how it makes the gun more well balanced around your main hand, not that they let you have a long barrel
>>64306597Blackouts implicitly do the same by just cutting off the portion that'd need to be held away from the body.
>>64306540I have a .300BLK AUG, I need to get around to it. I've just got a pile of guns at the shop that need to get reviewed because my rifle range is closed in the summer, so shotguns/rifles are off limits unless I go somewhere to review them (e.g., Thunder Ranch).>>64306554Valid question. There are some positive tradeoffs like better performance with supers and in the case of the AUG, a quick barrel swap for .300<->.223. If you're shooting only subs, however, that's something to consider.
>>64304700People yap about triggers because they don't actually shoot. Once you've done a meaningful amount of shooting you no longer care because it doesn't matter.
Never mind .300 BLK or TFBnow an AUG thread
Apparently, you can get an AUG for $790 these days. It's called the "nylaug".
>>64306554Mostly because you can have an 11" barrel and a suppressor and still be super short with good weight distribution instead of having something front heavy. Even if you stick to 16, you're still shorter than most regular rifles even after you attach a can
>>64312902I put 60 rounds through a FAL with a 15 pound trigger last month. Fuck that noise.
