Everything 5.11 makes is ugly except for some of their boots, but the 5.11 logo are like a neon sign that you are CC or a loot box.

Everything Helikon Tex makes is cool and most of it looks great. I am really tempted to get their chicom rig in Rhodesian camo for the sheer irony of the two designs together in one piece of kit.

There's a fine line to wearing durable or 'tactical' clothes and not looking like a mall ninja or obvious sheepdog. How do you do it, anon, or are you galavanting about in chunky milsurp?

Ignore cargo shorts, avoid camo unless it's a jacket/coat, ball cap, or bucket hat, avoid tac/utility belts with the clicking latch, use a buckle, don't use a chest, drop leg, or OWB holster. Avoid any military issue combat boots, esp vintage ones that are lacier and more obvious to normies. Ditch the duster, leather or otherwise, and the trench coat too.

Cargo PANTS may be alright, but go for something understated like the ones from Wrangler's ATG line. Carpenter's pants/jeans are better, and stains from seeing real use painting, working a site, or handy work at home will make you look more like a laborer and make people less curious about bulging pockets. Rain jackets and zip-up hoodies are good, denim jackets and bombers are good. Leather jackets and biker jackets should be cheap, plain, thrifted - they can be more attention grabbing and make you look 'tough' or like you're trying to look tough. Work jackets and hunting coats are great. Milsurp jackets or coats should be eyeballed carefully; camo these days can pass easily as streetwear in many cities, or hand-me-downs, but can also obviously 'blow your cover's so to speak. Duck camo like Columbia uses on their hunting coats, for example, makes you look like an outdoorsman instead of an operator. In lieu of a trench or duster look for what's called a car coat, great for winter, they have a lapel and extend past the waist but make you look classy, not like a detective or spree shooter. Even when it's hot, consider wearing button downs that are open in the front and untucked over a wifebeater/tank top, birdcage style, it'll make it easier to carry IWB behind your back. Same with all the coats and jackets I mentioned, though those have pockets. Athletic shorts or carpenter shorts are good in the heat. Running shoes/sneakers if the fit doesn't call for boots.

As for shoes? ASICS Gel, Air Jordan 12s, Nike Free Runs/Roshe, or sperry boat shoes.

Basically, layers are your friend if you want to look /fa/, appear unobtrusive or nondescript, and also be capable of carrying weapons or other tools that the proverbial 'gray man' would have on his person. If you just wear basketball shorts and an athletic shirt, no one will think you are a threat................ And they will probably be right.

Techwear and streetwear culture right now do open the door for you to lean into some tactical clothing depending on where you live, how urban it is basically. I mentioned in another post that Helikon-Tex makes awesome stuff to wear, their urban tactical pants would scream sheepdog larperator in Cletusberg, but in Richmond, NYC, Dallas, or San Diego they are more of a fashion statement without being ostentatious or necessarily tied to a certain subculture. Am I making sense, anon? Spend some time where you live with a notepad in your downtown, and at a mall or shopping center. Start by trying to identify brands and types of clothes, maybe use Google lens. Then start tallying how many people you see cross an intersection or pass by a certain store, and tally mark what they're wearing along whatever lines - like what patterns, what colors, what brands, are there more khakis or jeans. Maybe don't use a notepad and just eyeball it if you feel prepared, just get an idea of what the crowd you are trying to blend into is made out of. Keep an eye out for maintenance workers, contractors, and landscapers, and pay attention to what they wear and how - again, these kinds of people are easily ignored or glanced at and their clothes are utilitarian, durable, often concealing a lot of one's appearance. If you want to see a lot of them, hang near construction sites, housing complexes, or at local Mexican grocery stores/panaderia etc, especially early when the crews roll through or at lunch. This works better if you aren't an office drone or lawyer or whatever Are you? Tell me and I may offer different advice.

They had STYLE. Nothing beats a rib knit ski mask. Pantyhose is for greenhorns, and those skull balaclavas are for larping children. Patriot Front and ICE have ruined neck gaiters, not that they weren't fugly before turning into obvious glowshit. Bandanas are cool in a pinch, but the rib knit ski mask is the ubiquitous outlaw accessory. Those guys understood utility and comfort, too.

>>64312246

Robin Williams looked fucking great in bird cage, and now every July in New York every other guy on the street rocks an open Hawaiian or button up over a wifebeater. I do that with a gold chain and carpenters shorts for about half the Summer living in the South.

Who else feels like leather > kydex holsters?

Maybe it's just a consequence of having to dress formally for a living, but I love a quality leather holster, even for my "tactical" handguns. It just makes me feel like a 40s noir detective with a shoulder rig.

I see far more camo pants among normalfags than I do camo jackets
My preferred solution is camo pants and possibly baseball cap and some solid color jacket (or a graphic/band tee if it's not jacket season) preferably in some bright color so the normalfags don't have a fit

This thing from Helikon-Tex is legit. I've had it for maybe 7 years now and I still wear it, I even wear it to the office sometimes since it doesn't actually make you look like a nerd but IRL it looks like just a normal jacket with maybe an extra pocket.

Great posts, all I can add is that Hawaiian shirts are great layering choices for concealing during warmer weather. When it gets cold you have a lot more options in button down shirts, flannel, coats, etc. Also, your point about consciously observing what others are wearing will not only make someone /fa/ over time, it also increases situational awareness for danger. Start watching the world with more purpose anons.

Kydex has its place but leather will always be the /fa/ holster option, forever. But I wouldn't bother with leather unless it's a shoulder holster or it's OWB, personally. That place I mentioned for Kydex? It's in your pocket or inside your waistband, where you want improved retention and the slimmest possible profile.

On the one hand I want to contend that any cheap casio or even timex watch should do fine, on the other I wanna encourage you to not bother with a watch because it's one more accessory that can be used to identify you or separate you from the crowd - majority of which is not wearing a watch - in return for the convenience of keeping time on your wrist like you aren't staring at your phone to post on /k/. You can carry one in your wallet if it'll be situationally useful for you, or wear long sleeves, but idk, to me watches seem uncommon these days and I find myself paying more attention to them because of it. Frankly, most people still wearing them seem to be doing so specifically in order to convey something about themselves, like the Rolex that says 'I'm a good salesman/lawyer/doctor'. Or maybe 'I wish I was a good salesman/lawyer/doctor' lol. Fwiw, you can usually tell if a nice watch is a knockoff (if it's being worn and you can't check for a 000000 serial number or tarnishing etc) by paying attention to the action on the second and minute hands. Fakes are just faintly stiff and stilted, but the jerk is noticeable if you stare a couple of moments.

They have a handful of products that are alright because of solid materials and very simple construction in Taiwan. But the more stitching, or if it uses their knockoff canvas bullshit, buttons... The margin for dogshit becomes vast. My main issue is their compulsion to slap their logo on shit as though anyone buys it because of loyalty to the brand, or a desire to rep it in public. Just asking for trouble advertising that you spend time browsing tactical clothing outfitters and then spend money on their shit.

Speaking of gloves, I consider them consumable so I do go for cheaper ones, but the magpul tac gloves are surely still more durable than 5.11's at a similar price, as are mechanix impact - I like both.

>>64316868

What are you talking about, anon? Do I need to get a bug zapper?

>>64317532

Are you a guy crossdressing as a woman, or vice versa? Are you doing this at home, or at the range, or in public? I think these kinds of clothes are largely unisex, or at least, their design mostly leans masculine and women wearers are just comfortable butching up. Give more details and I will try to advise.

>>64317172

Ditch the fucking 5.11 pants...... Ditch the fucking merrills..... Get pants from Wrangler, Lee, Carhartt, L.L. Bean, or Columbia. Dark wash jeans, khaki denim, cargo pants, carpenter's pants. Get boots from Saloman if you have the paper for it, SR Max are great walking/work boots if you're poor. Instead of a polo, consider a button down denim shirt, I would suggest Wrangler for that but any brand should do. If you need to dress up, a brown suede blazer from Ralph Lauren or Brooks Bros over a denim shirt with khaki denim pants and Frye boots will make you look nice, formal but still salt of the earth, and it's functional. You do know to match your shoes and belt, right?

This got me to go browse there for the first time in many years. Looks very boring and kind of sad with just a handful of interesting threads. Suppose I'm not surprised it's a hotspot for dumb culture war goofy shit, and yet there's nothing bold being suggested in either direction. Labubus? Goth? Where is the thread about fringe leather jackets or techwear with electronic components? Yawn yawn yawn. These days I mostly wear the same outfit every day on account of my work uniform, mix it up a bit on days off or for certain gatherings/events. I still have a lot of interesting pieces but just don't wear them out with the frequency I used to, I think getting older I appreciate simplicity and routine more, whereas when I was younger I cared more about that special feeling of being 'put together' and stylish. Plus, with how crazy the world is, I feel better about blending in and wearing more utilitarian clothes that I could rely on in a bad situation.

Mockneck combat shirt/athletic shirt, they breathe good because of material and are good to wear basically all year but the hottest weather and are great for layering in the coldest. Plus they maybe will help conceal an Adam's apple, idk if you care about that. Baggy camo fatigue pants or cargo pants, go for an autumn camo or if you can find it that blue camo that a bunch of African militaries are into these days. Doc martens or maybe vintage combat boots that are lace heavy, tuck the pants in. Go for a tomboy operator vibe, I think. If you want '/k/ fashion's, whatever that is (and judging by a lot of this thread it's not very sophisticated), I think skirts and dresses are right out. Take a look at what those women freedom fighters in Rojava are wearing, maybe, or take cues from the women zapatistas? Only gun girls that come to mind immediately other than those Soviet sniper ladies, but they just wore military uniforms.

I didn't ask about 'peak grayman aesthetic', but if I am going to answer honestly it's prudent to point out that any extra accessories detract from the goal of being as nondescript as possible. Sorry if it hurt your feelings to hear that people can tell your Omega Seamaster is a knockoff and they laugh about it behind your back. One of the first things you learn in a proper corporate office or even just a pawn shop. What are you wearing today, anon? Cargo shorts and a triforce tee?

But if you did, nobody would be wondering what the bulge under your shirt was.
They'd be certain it was just an 8ball.
