I just got this home and am curious what to look for in the break in period. I already checked the bolt gap and it seems to be 0.013". The mag fitment doesn't seem to be really tight like some people report. I seemed to get a couple FTEs when I was function checking with snap caps. I have a couple hundred rounds of 124gr NATO, is this sufficient to break it in?
>>64307206Yeah
>>64307246yes
So you got a MAC.They will not hold up to HK. They are probably close to PTR at this point (RIP JLD, my brother in Christ).Keep in mind mags also break in. Just get some different magazines for longevity. They shouldn't be loose.
>>64307297>They will not hold up to HKAt a third of the cost I'd almost expect thatI'm not too familiar with PTR, I hear a lot about the ap5s though. I'll get an HK mag and maybe something cheaper just to have options.
>>64307347I wish you good fortune. I'm not familiar with MAC, but it should treat you well enough.Maybe its tolerances could even prove favorable. I know nothing of their R&D.
>>64307206>seemed to get a couple FTEs>seemedWhat the fuck dies that even mean? Probably a bot thread.
>>64308152Yeah
>>64308152I loaded the magazine with dummy rounds and manually cycled the bolt through it. Once or twice in the same mag the extractor failed to remove the round from the chamber as I pulled the bolt back. I haven't taken it apart yet, I'm not familiar with the weapon. There's more than one person on this board and although most of /k/ is /noguns I didn't figure it a stretch to conclude there might be another roller delayed owner lurking with wisdom to impart.
>>64308689its an MP5.You need to run 1000 rounds through it just to get it close to being broken in.
>>64307206I'd suggest 500rnds to break it in, be aware that FN or HP 147s may be an absolute shit show in terms of reliability. That's pretty much luck of the draw with any MP5s. Get some HK mags if you plan to use the thing for anything serious, they tend to be a bit more reliable with JHP. Remember to check your bolt gap again around 1000k rounds or if you start getting any weird issues. It can grow throughout break in before settling. An HK ejector lever is usually considered a smart move reliability wise.
>>64310187Meant 1000 rounds not 1 million
>>64310187thanks, for sure I'll be getting some HK mags then. Might be doing the ejector lever and spring too if this ends up an issue after a few hundred rounds. Are 115gr luger good for break in too? I got over a thousand rounds of that ready to go. I figured it'd be a good idea to throw a little bit of everything at it. I'm either gonna head to the range today or this weekend.
>>64307206Conga rats OP.
>>64307206>turkslopkys poorfag
>>64307297>>64307347>>64307429I have had an AP5P for like 3 years now and have shot probably 1.5k rounds through a full size SP5. There is really no difference except fit and finish is slightly better on the HK, rollmark, and the HK ones have a cuckshelf instead of 2 pin lower. Just swap out the ejector lever with an OEM HK one and it will be g2g. Congrats you just saved $1.5k. Now spend some of that savings on a super safety setup.
>>64310894The ejector that the roaches use can be dodgy for sure, mine didn't even have a bevel. I'll add that changing out the extractor might be a good idea too, but then again my factory one only started having issues after I hit the five figure count on my MKE Zenith.Other than those too factors, mine has been running like a top for the last 6 years, suppressed and otherwise.
>>64310884sour grapes. I bet your boss owns slaves and you're too stupid to use silent observer to report him anonymously so you don't get fired as revenge.
>>64307206Such a sexy gun. Good choice
Looking to get a second AP5. Has the price been sub-$1k recently, or was that just last year’s special? Pretty sure mine was $900
>>64310884seethe
>>64310894>super safety setupits what I had in mind after I get a thousand rounds or so and I know it runs. I'm not too familiar with the platform though are any of the "kit" options out there any good or do you have to mix and match to get something decent? How do I find out if mine has the cuckshelf?
>>64311690I'm going to be coping and maybe even dilating I wasn't able to get an MKE clone for under a grand. I think the ap5s are starting out at 15-1600
>>64308689The emphasis was on "seems". You don't appeare to be certain if you had some malfunctions or not is what "seems" would imply. Your deflection is pathetic.
>>64308689his point is that it either had an FTE or didn't, there is no "seems," there is no uncertainty as to whether it happenedhaving said that, snap caps are not always made to quite the same standard as real rounds. none of us can tell you whether your mags are too loose either. just shoot the gun and see how it runs instead of speculating.
>>64312244They're listed at $1240 on Atlantic, the page says there are more on the way. I would personally pay the extra to get an MKE over a MAC.
>>64312365>>64312312>there is no maybe, there is only yes or no!>the dummies make it a maybe though>but uhhh you aren't allowed to tell us about it since I might get embarrassed trying to correct you if the situation is more complex than I assumed
get a wide foregrip. the cool retro foregrip gets real hot to the touch if you shoot a lot, and you should shoot a lot. MP5s need lots of exercise.
>>64312881Eh, the MKE tooling is the same HK tooling as actual MP5s, and I have had zero malfunctions in mine with over 2k rounds so far. Why would you choose a Mac over MKE?
>>64313280Uh, read it again?
>>64312312>bunch of retard drivel
>>64313424whats your opinion on that stock? I think this just looks proper if one were to sbr it.
>>64313424lol I’m a potato. Good call- the MKE AP5 is the best clone.
>>64313446A2,stock is best shooting stock for MP5. A3 is for aesthetic and flexing.
>>64313446It's fine. It's just a G3 stock that I put on the end cap that came with the gun.
Got quite a few malfunction drills in. I started out with the 124gr nato. First mag had a shitload of malfunctions. the next 120 rounds of 124 nato (4 magazines) I had maybe two malfunctions. That's when I ran out of 124g nato and switched to luger. 115gr or 124 it would run for 3 or maybe 4 rounds before jamming up. It was federal and blazer. So I got about 280 rounds through and the only thing it runs reliably is the nato. So is this normal break in that I gotta keep pushing through or is there something more to it? Quite a few double feeds it seemed.
>>64316958idk, my MKE runs fine.
>>64316958I used 124gr to break in my MKEs, ~500 rounds. Then I switched to 148sHaven’t had a single malfunction even with 115s, but MKE > MAC
>>64318150yeah I've heard. Did you switch out ejectors/extractors and springs?
>>64308689One of my MP5s took 500 (124gr) rds to start working right, the other worked fine out of the box. You can leave your bolt locked back overnight and give her another go. They start out stiff and need a meaty thwacking to get smoothed out. After break in she'll sing and probs only fail if your feed ramp gets dirty
>>64319158I just bought another 200 rds of nato and a box of steel case (someone mentioned that elsewhere on the net).I'll try leaving it locked back though too. It was quite bizzare watching it choke on the first mag and the very next mag it ran flawless (124). I almost thought my break in was that quick, guess I'm not that lucky lol.
