How does this work?
instead of needing to put in blank, why not give the grenade a tight tube to catch the bullet and use that force to propel it?

Kek i remember this DIY grenade. Abu Hajar's buddy used it but didn't even light the fucking match.
>>64312718>make improvised explosive device>make and attach cup to shotgun's muzzle which fits said explosive device>load a blank shotgun shell in the gun>light fuse on explosive device>aim gun>fire>blank sends explosive fucking flying>hopefully where you want it to>and hopefully the fuse didn't go out>ideally goes boom and damages your targetIt's like a niggerrigged take on a classic rifle grenade. On gas operated rifles, typically there's a way to turn off the gasblock so that it doesn't drive the piston and beat up the gun, due to the grenade being much heavier than a bullet.>>64312749That has actually been done with rifle grenades, where the back of the grenade has a 'bullet trap' which catches the bullet and protects the grenade from premature detonation, and the gas from the regular rifle cartridge sends it on its way.I forgot who did this. I think the French would do that with the greandes for their FAMAS rifles?>>64312776>It's easier to just use blanksOn the DIY end, yes, but with bullet trap grenades you skip the having to switch ammo part.
>>64312749There was a rifle grenade that had a hole for the bullet to go through. I think it was French.
The caliber size makes it seem more reasonable than using a rifle. However, the recoil of a large grenade would be intense. Is it possible to fire it without setting the butt on the ground?
Cup-style rifle grenades have been a thing since like WWI. Most would use a blank cartridge.
>>64316587Caliber of the gun itself doesn't really matter at all, because you're using an external cup or spigot on the muzzle so that the grenade can be any size you want, and something like a .223 or .308 blank case can contain all the propellant that you want for getting it flying.
>>64312749>>64313443>>64316541They made shoot through models as well.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VB_rifle_grenade
>>64319641Very interesting, never knew of these.
A blank still creates force when fired. (this is how someone died playing russian roulette with a blank, btw) This means you can use the force of a blank to propel something larger than a shotgun shell by using a contraption like this.
>>64312749Because it's a homemade launcher firing homemade grenades, and you really don't want to add extra points of failure to a system like that.
>>64312718looks kind of like a grenade discharger cup.if the grenade is cylinder it should be easy to use a disk shaped wad to help reduce blow by,from there its only a matter of crimping your own shot shell blanks.
>>64322154Or this.
>>64312749some rifle grenade do that iirc the SIMON breaching grenade does that i guess a bullet trap adds a lot of weight where it's not really necessary if you just use blanks so it's not the common approach
