If ain't made in the US it ain't no count boy, sure trust your life to Philippine or Turkish 'craftsmanship' all you want. They make throwaway guns for criminals to do drivebys with.
You can get a fully US made 1911 with no cast/mim parts and a metal mainspring housing for under $1000Why cope?

>>64318939My theory is that people overvalue things based on higher prices, they sink the money then realize they've been bamboozled and try to shame others into buying overpriced objects to consolidate their guilt.Your first response was even trying to shame you out of buying Caniks or the cheap 1911's by restating that they're Turkish, never mind that Turkey is a trusted member of NATO that has a long history of experience in arms manufacture. Such a discussion ends in cherry picking fire arms failures, of which the total is disproportionately related to American companies or through American made contracts with foreign companies like Sig.
>>64318965If you pay 900$ for a 1911 because it's American you're basically retarded.
>>64318974I also listed other important factors that you chose to completely ignore as if no one would notice, but OK.

Imported guns should get a 200% tax, the revenue of which goes into government subsidies for domestic firearm and ammunition manufacturing.

>>64318982We should remove all taxes on firearms and remove any import restrictions and let the market drive down costs. Everyone will end up buying Norinco though when that happens.

>>64318999It would be a crime not to get one. I was genuinely impressed with how much firearm you got for $300.They even have a titanium firing pin which essentially makes them drop safe.
My upbringing by my boomer dad makes me completely unable to buy anything but an American gun or maybe a quality European one.
>>64318939Post a single instance of this happening
It's not about how much you paid it's about the attitude and the destruction of domestic manufacturing. There are 100,000 US-made 1911s for sale just collecting dust and you want to import something new from a developing country?Just like WalMart and Amazon, you think you're saving money but once all the local places are put out of business then Walmart and Amazon can raise their prices and you have no choice but to buy from them.Considering the American Empire is in a pretty drastic downward spiral I would be wary of any foreign influence in our firearms or ammunition industry. I mean the Czechs just bought up most of our ammunition manufacturing and no one even cared.

A 1911 is a range toy for most people. If someone truly needs a practical CCW and they're short on funds there are much better alternatives than a 1911, especially when there's ammo cost to consider as well.

>>64319859>696969Nice
I have three Rock Island 1911's, they each cost around 400Had to tune an extractor, replace a recoil spring twice (officers last 500-600rds) and toss all the poopy Act-Mags.Other than that its been pretty smooth sailing after several thousand rounds (collectively) through the three pistolsOne thing I think also helps is using 5W20 synthetic oil, it just hangs around and doesnt burn off or run like some thin gun oils
>>64319042You really think their thought process when they start getting sales is going to be "golly gee its time to give back to the community, let me reduce the prices". No of course not it'll be more along the lines of "people come to us for our quality which is why they're willing to pay out their ass and which is also why we'll be raising prices since we cant keep up with demand"
>>64319511pretty much this. I have a $200 RIA revolver that has went off 100% of the time I pulled the trigger. Winter is coming up which means hoodies, which means I get to walk around with a snub nose 357 in my hand and wait for jamal to ask me what time it is.

>>64318939The reason the 1911 got its reputation was wartime pistols. The requirement was all manufactured parts had to be capable of being used mixed and matched to immediately assembled a 1911 with zero smithing or modifications. This led to the ol battle rattle 1911. That could fire 6000 rounds with zero malfunctions. This is also still the best version of the 1911. Its accurate enough to hit a man from pistol range and won't let you down. >>ive got a $5000 1911Thats like spending 100,000 on an old straight six Ford pickup. >>64318961The Tisas 1911s are all forged with no mim and have extremely good machining all around. Forged slide, frame, and internals with a cold hammer forged barrel. I have a Springfield and a Colt that I cannot say the same for. I used to have a Dan Wesson Valor but I lost it in a hurricane flood. That was a $2,500 gun and the Tisas is $300 for the same materials and levels of craftsmanship according to pretty much everyone that has any experience with one. >>64319014>Sur dey are all fourged parts sur yes fey are sur buy our guns with apple pay cards sur yes.
>>64325007You have clearly never put a file to a machined part vs a cast part. "The Engineer knows that he has achieved perfection, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away."I love these older gun designs. 1911, Browning Hi-power, Cz-75, even early Beretta M9/92... basicly guns that were designed before the plastic era. It's just metal and maybe wooden handle-plates. Other then that it's just sheer engineering goodness. Your mileage may vary, but I love my CZ-75 with it's crisp trigger, simple on-frame safety and even that nifty firing pin block safety for extra security (this is a divisive opinion I know, but I like it). No bullshit trigger safeties of the glocks (honestly I don't even like the handle safety of the older 1911 models, I think the trigger safety will be faded out like those eventually)There is just something satisfying in haveing a solid block of steel carved into hardy "treat me well and your grandchildren will be shooting me" borderline indestructable gun. I especially like the fact that 1911 is so... so... THIN! It's a THIN gun. Compare it to most modern guns and modern ones seem like giant bricks. 1911 is almost elegant in it's simplicity! (hot take: I think that this is why even AK-47 style guns appeal to people. It's just steel, wood and simple engineering. That does weird things to a man's mind. It's hard to not like it.)
>>64318939>Who keeps shilling this notion?People who have been duped into buying $3k 1911s.
>>64318970Bait should be somewhat believable.
>>64319042You aren't on a downward spiral if nobody else is on an upward spiral.
>>64318939Ironically it seems that the more you spend on a 1911 and the further it is from original specs, the more likely it is to jam or have other malfs. Every single 1911 horror story I've heard of has come from boutique or competition 1911s.
>>64325290People have a strange fascination with tight tolerance pistols. It's like a high class gentlemanly thing.
>>64325245That's the thing, isn't it?Much like wines, cars, clothes and such... guns have a "sweet spot" where the quality and price meet well, and above that it's just conspicuous consumption. You pay more, but the quality plateaus out, or even may go down despite the price increasing. You are paying for the prestige, not the actual product. It varies from country to country, but a 400-500 bucks gun WILL get you a decent shooter. Going double the price will NOT get you double the quality. Hell, sometimes you may even get lucky and find a good, used but less-shot gun for 300 bucks (although this is mega lucky). There are even people who specialize in these, and trade them like a house flipper. Find a good (but a bit rusty) gun from some inheritance sale, touch it up a bit and sell it for FAT profit. Gun merchants regularly visit police auctions for this type of guns. All in all... it's just "you just got to know these things" game. If you do, you can score major finds. If you don't you will end up spending 800-1000 bucks for a shitty shooter that can't hold a candle to an old but well-kept grampa's night-stand pistol that he bought in his youth.

I wish I had as much luck with my Tisas, my first one was the 9mm commander and it went 30 rounds before failing to extract since the extractor tension wasn’t set right. Second Tisas was the 10mm commander Yukon that failed to feed 3 times within 200 rounds, probably magazine related but usually on the last two rounds, third Tisas was the JSOC 1911 that would not feed JHP out of a 8 round mag, would feed from a 7 but I’m carrying a full-size 1911 because it has 8 rounds over my compact 7 or 6 rounders.
