You need at least a standard cowitness height but preferably a 1.53 or lower 1/3 so that only the very tip of the front sight is visible in the optic. With 55 grain in a 16 inch barrel a 30/300m (36 yard) zero works for any distance between 25 and 300. Or you can do a 50/200 yard zero. Theres also the possibility of a 100 yard zero if the bdc on your optic is calibrated for your barrel length and ammunition, but probably not.
