Holy fuck. I came a little. Where, and for how much, can I purchase a decent pair of nods. Bonus: I wore PVS...7? I think, while in Baghdad. I hated them.

Brothers, I'm a GWOT veteran, well past 40. I'll check this thread when I get up from my drunken stupor tomorrow.

Why did you hate them, grandpa?

Quads are like $40000 each and the ones on the civilian market are all scuffed as hell so honestly I wouldn't if I were you.

The biggest issue was the weight and the loss of depth perception. They hung pretty far off the front of your forehead and all that weight would squeeze the helmet down on your head. Fine for quick looks around but operating long term in them sucked. They also just didn't quite have the resolution for anything serious. I treated so many sprained ankles and busted knees on night ops.
>>
>>64322776
Shit. Well that ain't happening anytime soon. I was hoping the chinese managed to reverse engineer them and mass produce them by now. I know they take some pretty exotic glass though.

I loved that little bus. Hated working on it but had a hell of a time zooming around Baghdad. I also jumped one off a sand dune in Kuwait. Well, it felt like we got air at least.

Oof.

you probably used gen 2 which is why they sucked.

Knowing my unit, I wouldn't doubt it. The image quality from the tube was just fuzzy and washed out green.

>muh counterweight
NTA but you're a serious retard, counterweight is only a solid option for quick short session with NVG (think of a house raid), tanker helmets can already fuck your neck so badly you'll need surgery to fix it so imagine you with your heavy ass helmet walking around for 3+ hours innawoods.
thank god the PVS14 and PVS15 aren't that heavy

TNVC and Kosher Surplus are generally regarded as being quite good. To get what you're accustomed to, you'd probably be looking for Gen2, but you can get a Gen3 Elbit green phosphor PVS-14 (the lighterweight monocular) for like $2500 nowadays. They're decent. If you've never used NV before they'll blow your mind and all your normie friends will shit bricks.
Don't worry about the autism about numbers, people will blow your ass up over it (Check out the NV threads here) but frankly if you've got Gen3 NV you'll be fine unless you're doorkicking literally every day or are doing absolute goon shit all the time.
Pictured are gen3 white phosphor which is why it's blue. Whatever makes you more comfortable is what you go with in terms of color, really.
>>

>PVS-7 weight
I carried a PVS-4 mounted on a rifle back in 1990/91. That was heavy.
>>
>>64321585
around 3.5-4k for a gen3 pvs-14 and 7k+ for duals, housings are something you need to look into as there are five million flavor of the week variations depending on what you want it to do panning, articulation, fusion, flip up shut off etc
>>64322776
>scuffed as hell
civvies have been able to buy quads brand new for years now
https://tnvc.com/shop/l3harris-gpnvg-ruggedized-bridge/ (ironic example only to show purchasability)
>>64323433
anything with 2 or more tubes and you will regain your depth perception, modern tubes with even milspec will generally be very good ex omni 6,7, or 8
>>64323438
>chinese managed to reverse engineer
Argus APNVG, they are 7k minus tubes and you need 4 doing the math its roughly 15k-20k with omni tubes
yes the glass is exotic/proprietary and ARGUS is not as good as L3
>>64323561
>TNVC and Kosher Surplus
are you trying to get him fleeced for all his money or credit card stolen? avoid TNVC at all costs they have someone who has been stealing cc info for years and they refuse to do anything about it, kosher is a fat jew
steeleindustries,gooningear/darq are reputable but somewhat expensive, tacswap and r/nightvision for used stuff
if you want the cheapest but good enuff buy omnis to build out your own (mil contract tubes that have min specs, higher number = better ex. omni 7>omni 5 but also more expensive
>if you've got Gen3 NV you'll be fine
this is true
>Check out the NV threads here
lol, lmao even

NVgeneral is a fucking shitshow
Nibbas arguing for days about the most meaningless shit and forgetting that all their stats don't exist in a vacuum, and that places exist with different conditions to the Midwest.
Then 100 posts from Elbit copers explaining how the massive halo around their lights is a feature and not a flaw. Shit is wild.

Yes welcome to /k/, if that concept perturbs you then don’t ever mention that 5.56 out of an 11.5” barrel within 100m will kill someone equally as effectively as 5.56 out of a 20” barrel
>>
I've got like $1000 to see some shit in the dark. Is this enough?

Is kosher just a facebook page, or do they have a site? Do they deliver to canada?
