Give me one good reason to use anything other than DIESEL for tank engines. By nature they are fuel efficient, high torque and rugged, especially without emissions stuff on passenger cars. They can easily run multiple fuels as well and diesel fuel is nonflammable.
i dont know but your military should only ever use 1 fuel and not more than 3 different ammo calibers.
>>64321587>Give me one good reason to use anything other than DIESEL for tank engines. They don't work at low temperature without changing fuel to something lighter> By nature they are fuel efficient,Peak thermal and fuel consumption in general aren't the same, a big diesel is more efficient than a gas turbine but still far less efficient than a small engine + big engine, or battery + big engine.>They can easily run multiple fuels as well and diesel fuel is nonflammable.Only if they have a major rework, specially the fuel pump, injectors and you find a way to not lose a lot of power due to a different cetane number.
>>64321587JP8 exists
>>643215871. Diesel engines are bigger, bulkier, and heavier than their gasoline burning counterparts, a serious problem in tanks where every cubic inch of interior space is valuable2. Prior to the advent of turbocharges diesel engines had fucking TERRIBLE power output compared to gasoline engines, hence why most WWII tanks ran on gasoline3. Diesel doesn't really work as a fuel in extreme cold conditions, the fuel freezes and the engines are borderline impossible to start even if you manage to keep the fuel liquid.

>>64321691how does that help when the fuel tank is jelly?when diesel gels there isn't much you can do except tow the vehicle into an enclosed heated space. even throwing jugs of iso-heet (isopropyl alcohol) into the tank isn't going to unplug the lines. you are fucked.
>>64321587>Give me one good reason to use anything other than DIESEL for tank engines.I dont think anybody does?
>>64321587The abrams turbine is multi fuel.some customers run them on diesel
>>64321715>how does that help when the fuel tank is jelly?Even worse than jelly, I've seen this shit freeze into solid paraffin wax.Like millions of little drops of candle wax just clogging everything. And no, warming it up to room temperature doesn't fix the issue, the wax remains solid and the engine remains completely bricked.
>>64321587Kinda feels like you are kicking in an open door here, OP
>>64321718tanks have used both diesel and gas engines, they have different pros and cons and every country evaluates those pros and cons differently
why not just use all the fuels?
>>64321587gas turbine is better for arctic conditions
>>64321874Today there's like two engines not being diesel, anon.
>>64321639>3. Diesel doesn't really work as a fuel in extreme cold conditions, the fuel freezes and the engines are borderline impossible to start even if you manage to keep the fuel liquid.Arctic diesel, bro.
