Noob here. Just got my first rifle: a Howa 1500 .308 varmint. Have not yet got a scope for it, but considering a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24X50. For 200m target shooting, would this scope allow me to see the holes in the target, or would I need a spotting scope? Also, is this magnification appropriate for 200m?

I love high power scopes when bench shooting. Not so much any other time. What you need to ask is>is it too heavy>is the lower end too high mag for short rangesetc.>

Get a vortex strike eagle 4-24x50mm. On midwayUSA for 300 shekels. Glass quality is comparable to vortex viper PST.

This is the third time somebody else has posted about the exact same set-up I'm looking to buy this year. Did I just accidentally put together the ultimate meta poor rifle while I was hammered on a cold November night last year?
