>A Russian Mi-28N attack helicopter was destroyed by an FPV drone in Donetsk region. The pilots of the 59th Brigade of the Unmanned Systems Forces carried out the operation.
Apparently this is the first such case during this war.

There were attempts before but the drones was swept away by the turbulence on approach. I wonder how did they manage to do it this time.

Probably approached at full speed and got the angle and lead just right so they didnt have to do any corrections that slowed the drone down. Maybe they also used a faster drone? Like those drone interceptor drones that are apparently a big success.

honestly that was more believable since we didn't have a footage of it's sinking in a giant ball of fire

There is more than one case where airliners crash land at high speed and people survive. There was one where the thing fucking exploded because it still had fuel, fuselage broke apart and cartwheeled but some people still survived. Not saying a plane crash is as survivable as a car crash but it's not so simple. as long as the crew itself wasnt engulfed in flames and burned to death or the thing went directly in the ground like it was hitting a wall it could be possible.

Not new, but stopped keeping track for a while. Most of the ones I remember were variants on hohol or pig.
Dammit man I'm not old enough to be going senile yet.

>BUM-TOUCHING CRESTS!

What I want to know is what happened to dills
>>

Okay now that's starting to sound more familiar.

They survived the initial impact of the Khohol drone, but Semyon drop his cigarette, which ignited improperly stored industrial solvents (used for moral building huffing) which started a small fire. The crew suffered inhalation injuries from the fumes and passed away due to complications at hospital (Barn on nearby goat farm)

It's actually the old one. That's how most automated translators would translate "khohol(s)" into English. Stemming from the fact that the original word means this stuff some birds have on their heads: https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crest_%28feathers%29
The same word would get used for an oldschool ukie cossack haircut, which then got used to call ukie after that.

kek

It's just khokhol translated, kind of. Talking about the funny Cossack hair thing.
Hohol is just that smoothed down.
Ukrop is dill if I remember and the epic meme there is is it kind of sounds close to Ukraine or whatever.

I enjoy in response the most common slur for Russians you see thrown about is simply calling them faggots and immediately everyone understands everything

Yeah that's sounding like something I knew at some point. Appreciate the reminder, it's wild how much this shit has changed since we were watching VDV columns finding out the hard way that BMDs are not in fact BMPs.

>the most common slur for Russians you see thrown about is simply calling them faggots
>that time a twitter roastie got ass blasted that not only soldiers call russians "faggots" in communication, but also call a column of them a "gay (pride) parade" kek.

It was kind of neat also finding out that BMD's despite costing millions of dollars each have all the protection of a Lada Niva with its doors stuffed with old magazines

thank you for the kind words good stranger

The funny thing about that is it's a lesson the VDV had already learned while the Soviets were in Afghanistan. The BMD's job is to be a very light air deployable IFV and in that role it's better than nothing, but if you're operating as the VDV generally do as politically dependable and reasonably competent soldiers on land you 100% want to swap them out for BMPs as quickly as you can.
I wonder if the fact that the BMD looks like a 'real' IFV leads to soldiers treating it more like one even if they know the protection sucks.

Do you think they awarded the guy who downed the plane?

Yeah. It didn't explode when it hit the ground and skidded upright and intact so they might have actually survived that.

Its got a point in that they wanted an air-dropped mobility vehicle with some considerable firepower, storage for gear and then strapped 'amphibious' on top of the whole lot.
Which isn't necessarily unachievable but there's compromises in the design to achieve all that, plus its really very expensive. Like people want to say its cheap slavshit but its really not as some of those BMD4's can start creeping up into $4million once you fill them out with all the comms, fire control, weapon systems and everything else with most of them starting at about 3million plus. That is MBT money!
So it does have a doctrinal role in airborne ops
Thing is, Russia barely ever followed its own doctrines! They spent a lot of time, effort and fucking around after getting gang-fucked in Chechnya, then repeatedly punched in the ballsack after Georgia enough that they 'had to' do something in order to make their forces modernised, follow a functional doctrine with real world operational value. It all got written down on paper, then used to wipe their own arseholes on as basically everyone then balled it up and hurled it in the nearest bin
