my shooting clubs indoor & outdoor range is mostly groups of old guys and competitive shooters
the old guys are mainly concerned increasing their beer intake
and the competitive ones only talk if you dare to disturb them in any way
clay pigeon shooting is reservation only, so you're alone anyway (not suitable for beginners though)
and long range outdoor is mostly empty

I did some dates (not first ones though) there as well
and other then "hello" and "bye", there was never more contact with the others at the range
