The insane raised section is supposed to be for clearance but the structural weight penalty to raise it like that would be nasty. Making longer gear fit in larger fairings would be a better compromise. Parasol wings are a thing, just look at the PBY-5. It might also be an attempt to conceal the ordinance from radar but that would only work from the sides and not well at that. Yes, I know the devs didn't know or care how to make a proper aircraft but thinking about it is a good mental exercise.
