do you carry a medical/trauma kit in your BOB/combat kit? in my smallish backpack, i've put together a few things for major wounds. i also have a larger duffel bag which i consider my real BOB that has some emergency/freeze dried food, a mylar blanket, bottled water, paracord, some spare ammo, lighters, other non combat essentials. but if i were ever on the move, i would probably carry my backpack and leave my duffel bag somewhere safe so my immediately important things go in my backpack.>8 rolls of 3"x36" gauze for wound packing, individually wrapped>another large clean cotton rag for multipurpose use like water filtration (plus a lifestraw for actual purification), wound packing, cleaning, etc.>6 individually wrapped gauze pads for cleaning, wound packing, treating minor wounds>4 packs of bleedstop hemostatic agent>1 CAT tourniquet (not pictured, i moved it into my backpack from my main BOB after pic taken)>plastic bags for multipurpose use, protecting things from water, makeshift chest seal>3 rolls of adhesive wrap>small roll of medical tape, breathable, durable, and easily torn by hand>1 large bowie knife, 1 smaller pocket knife>1 swiss army knife with scissors and other tools>paper and sharpie for any note taking>antihistamines and nsaids in case there is no immediate medical services available. ibuprofen strictly for injuries that involve limited bleeding like a simple bone fracture>few packs of alcohol swabs for disinfecting>small sewing kit in an altoid tin which could double down as emergency suture as a last resortam i missing anything important? i've considered adding some sort of antiseptic like povidone iodine but i'm not sure if the space is worth it because this kit is only intended to help someone survive for a few hours, tops, until they can get professional medical help. i suppose it could be useful for a true SHTF scenario though.pic rel. also post your BOBs/kits
also after going through my main BOB, i realized i didn't have any gloves. so i put 2 pairs of nitrile gloves into a plastic baggie and added that to my kit
I'm assuming this is a poorly thought out bait thread
>>64339610who or what do you presume i am trying to bait?
>>64339629its either bait or you're an underaged teenaged poster who has never seen a gun or been outside before thats the only way any of what you listed makes any kind of sense
>>64339678ok youre just a faggot, got ithere's a random kit i found online to make this thread a little less gay
the bug out briefcase
>>64339529Why have you got three knives in a first aid kit?am i missing anything important?>Israeli bandage or emergency trauma dressing (can replace a couple of rolls of gauze if you're short on space)>2nd tourniquet>Tylenol (double up with ibuprofen), odansetron or metoclopramide, loperamide (won't save a life but worth carrying for comfort given how little space half a dozen pills take up)>Gauze pads are not appropriate for packing serious wounds, too great a risk of one of the pads being left inside when they stitch it up. Z fold or rolls is what you want for that.>50cc syringe for flushing wounds>Pack the iodine if you have the space and you're confident it's not going to get crushed and leak. General consensus is there's little to no benefit flushing or cleaning a wound with antiseptic vs tap water but in a natural disaster where everything is filthy and you might be waiting a long time for care then it's probably worthwhile.>SAM splint if you have space. Worth it if you need to limp to a hospital or aid station or whatever.
>>64339529wow I was hoping for a decent thread about IFAKs and stuff but instead we're posting shitty knives and our toiletry bags and nobody even has a tourniquet anyway, is dark angel the new go to for a well set up IFAK?
>>64339529lifestraws are a total meme fyi. they are the worst water-filtering option on the market. that thing is the most embarrassing part of your kit. Buy a Sawyer or similar. also:>"tactical" bags make you look like a vagrant>3 knives???>fire striker but no ready tinder or firestarters - do you actually practice fire starting? are you too cool for matches? strikers are a pain in the ass unless you've got skill>no bottle / water storage (but bags and DIY stuff?)you've absolutely put the cart before the horseto dial in a BoB we need to hear your escape strategy and where you live. otherwise it's just a sack of stuff.
>>64340427lifestraws arent really a meme, they're just the popular version. 1 fixed blade knife, 1 spare knife, and a multitool which happens to have a knife. i have toilet paper in a bag that i can use as tinder. no bottles cause my main duffel has 4 bottles of water. my strategy is to get in my car and drive west to my parents house in a rural part of the country about 200 miles away. drive as far as i can and walk if i need to. i imagine the most likely scenario is civil war in 2026 if elections are openly rigged like i imagine they will be. massive riots and states openly defying the elections which will result in military being sent to states and that's a powder keg ready to blow. republicans cannot afford to have a democrat president take power while they're still alive. there will absolutely be retribution and theres no line they won't cross to make sure they stay in power. a democrat can come in and just undo everything they did plus punish them for doing it. both sides want blood, they just don't want to make the first move. republicans have been pretty outright corrupt at this point, openly lining their pockets and testing their use of the military against american cities.this bag plus my main duffel has food for 2 weeks, spare water, extra socks, and other things in it. i don't really feel like taking apart my main bag though. but my plan is to regroup with family and take shelter.
>>64340563>Toilet paper in a bag>That I can use as (kindling) tinderThis man is NOT gmi
>>64340563>lifestraws arent really a meme, they're just the popular versionif you already know everything, why did you come here for advice? have fun drinking out of puddles. >my strategy is to get in my car and drive west to my parents house in a rural part of the country about 200 miles awayhow do the plastic bags, sewing kit, and three knives help you accomplish this? does your car contain jumper cables, a battery charger, a spare tire, a wrench set, signal flares, a blanket? do you have 1-2 jerry cans full of gasoline to support a 200-mile journey in disaster conditions? it seems like you're engaging in abstract woodsy fantasy instead of actually getting what you need. >i have toilet paper in a bag that i can use as tinderbuy storm matches and firestarter cubes. don't rely on dumb shit you've never attempted before.
>>64339529larping
>>64340600ackshully, its tinder, kindling is the next step up, tinder is what you use to catch a spark>>64340609why do you pretend like this shit is hard lmao. if i don't have dry sticks, i can easily just split open a branch
>>64340671if you feel confident with your method, go ahead. but it sounds like you've never actually tried any of this shit. I certainly know you've never relied on that life straw for anything.
>>64339799Y u hidin.
>>64339529I don't do survival kits. I just have a small kit for the range and the car. I have loose medical supplies in the house. The only thing I'd suggest for your setup are bandage scissors. They make cutting clothes off people faster and safer in an emergency.
>>64340777i saw a lot of IFAKs have these but i figured my multitools scissors would work in a pinch. but i guess they are pretty sharp and could be dangerous if im in a rush. i'll look for a good pair of bandage scissors
>>64340563In addition to what you have: throw in some space blankets and an Israeli bandage. Shitcan the sewing kit and instead get a suture kit to use as a last resort sewing kit. Gorilla tape is going to be the best sewing kit in most situations anyway. Get a large abdominal pad (or a medium sized cotton bath towel in a ziploc, but keep it CLEAN). Buy an actual chest seal, nasopharyngeal airway, and a chest decompression needle. Learn when and how to use these things. Take a Stop The Bleed class. Hell take an EMT class, just know that only like 20% is going to be trauma care info and you're gonna have to sit through a lot of old people medical emergency stuff to get it.I like your Iodine idea, you should do that. I'm curious if dietary Iodine drops can be used for wound care and water purification as well. Also, if your plan is to drive 200 miles, make sure your car is in good shape. Change the oil regularly. Have basic car emergency items like a good car jack (consider upgrading the shitty scissor jack that came with your car), jumper cables, a battery pack to jump start your car and/or charge devices (one with good reviews), an automotive air compressor, and a tire leak kit. A small quantity of car fluids: oil, fuel (rotate out regularly), coolant. A wool blanket (if true SHTF grab every blanket you own) and tarp, granola or some other high calorie food that will last a long time, paper maps of the route to mom and dad's house, a container of water, a winter hat and insulated leather work gloves/mittens, and warmer candles with lighters. Buy a flashlight and have extra batteries for it. I like the petzl head lamps. Try sleeping in your car this winter so you know what to expect, but quit before you get frostbite obviously.Throw all that in a plastic tote or two in your trunk. If you choose to put your faith in christ you're ultimately GMI in the end.
>>64339678OP dont listen to this retard, you've just described a basic medkit
