Guy at work who’s trying to discourage my next gun purchase said “I wouldn’t trust my life to a 1911”. I was honestly at a loss for words. How do you feel about 1911 vs other handguns for cc?
if its a good 1911 it will be goodif its a bad 1911 it will be bad
>>64340141Does he own any guns? Do you own any guns? Are you good with a 1911? Do you want to get good with a 1911?The best carry gun is one you'll practice with and actually carry. Who cares what that retard thinks if you're strapped and he's not.
>>64340147In your honest opinion, what would be examples of both?
>>64340141It's not a great idea. You do you.
the 1911 is the best range toy ever made and a great fashion accessory, but even the most perfect man on earth is more likely to forget or fail to engage or disengage a safety than make any other mistakethe gold standard for a carry gun is a double action trigger, even a light 7-8lb oneyes, glocks are double action, just a very short double action with no feedback if the trigger is caught which is the actual problem for IWB carryalso fuddy five lethality is comparable to 9mm unless suppressing subs
>>64340565>yes, glocks are double actionThey're literally not, once that striker's down you have a dead trigger. 1st action is cock hammer, 2nd is drop hammer. Glock triggers don't cock the striker.
>>64340141For cc its good, round and thin. Meant to be cocked locked with one in the chamber. I trust my life with one. Vs other guns you're gonna get half the ammo capacity. Not the biggest deal imo. Carry a couple extra mags(wilson combat) and load em with federal hst. You will more than likely be more accurate with a 1911 vs other guns. >>64340147>thisNo girsan or tisas
>>64340565>glocks are double action????
>>64340649He thinks the partially-cocked thing means it's double action. We might have Time Travelling Sam Colt here.
>>64340141own three 1911s, two colt one tisasthey'd be fine in war but for CC there are tons of places for it to snag on your clothes. it's also single stack with under 10 rounds. if you raw dawg it on your waist like i do with CC the 1911 is very uncomfy and stabby
>>64340662You could always get a cheap one and take a fibre wheel to it, if you like fucking around.
>>64340665i think the thumb safety is what pokes out the most so i don't think i can afford to make that flat
>>64340677You can melt it until it's not sharp enough to cut though.
>>64340565>fail to disengage safetyRetards who don't know the 1911 fail to understand the safety. Your thumb rests right on it when shooting. >double action is bestAnyone who shoots knows a sao straight back trigger is best. They make retard new gunners look like marksmen>fuddy five lethality45 hollow point expands to around 1inch diameter. 9mm is half that expansion. So 9mm benefit is more capacity and better recoil management. Ignorance must be bliss
>>64340141 Are you talking like a full size 1911? I wouldn't. Heavy, large, limited capacity, and regardless of what the noguns here will tell you, you can basically ONLY get reliable feeding if you carry ball ammo. You can get aftermarket barrels and polish your feed ramp all you want but I don't know anyone that would trust their life to one with hollow points. Even critical duty will FTF regularly. That said, I understand the appeal of the pure sovl the 1911 exhibits. The Kimber micro 1911s are cool. You can get the Bel Air model and roleplay as a 90s Florida cocaine dealer.
>>64340141Carry whatever you think is cool. The gun store employees are right though. Heavy guns are not ideal for CC. Once you have carried for a while and do it daily you will move to a lighter smaller gun that you can just throw into your belt or in your jacket pocket simply because it's easy. Everyone does.1911s are great guns for newbs imo and they're fun. If you like them, do it.>>64340662>they'd be fine in warLol no
>>64340141How do you even carry full size?
>>64340141Three things are required to come out on top in a lethal situation: 1. You must be willing, able and adept at getting to your weapon, getting it into the fight, then effectively apply your weapon in the fight all in under 2 seconds at least. You really want to get under 1.5 seconds. Skill, wardrobe, carry style and weapon will determine the time and effectiveness. I carry a 1911A1, I can get it out and land two rounds each on two targets from realization of threat to the 4th round in under 2.7 seconds most days. I'm old, 52, and carry in a Galco Jackass Rig. 6'1" 205 lbs. I run an old Springfield Armory I've carried into combat. My wife runs a Colt Officers Model. We can throw mags to each other as she runs full size mags after her carry mag. We practice fire and movement. She's 5'4" and 120 lbs, mostly muscle. Large tits as well. Over DD. Body armor was custom.. That ain't fucking cheap. You can definitely get good and find a workable and effective carry with a 1911. I recommend you shop around in carry style and different firearms. Find YOUR fit to what feels right and works FOR YOU. Maybe you run an old warhorse like me, maybe a Glock 9mm becomes your dream configuration.. Don't let anyone tell you what you should do, and don't bully yourself into a bad fit.. Relax. Approach this calm and focused. Find your fit and don't let anyone else fuck this up for you.
>>64340565Oh look, a bullshit nogunz moronic opinion. Discarded.
>>64340706>Lol nowhy? it'd be in a holster
If you can train than a 1911 is one of the best ccw's you can have. If you cant train then it could become a liability if you forget the saftey or even worse carry saftey off. Get a DA/SA with a decocker if you are concerned with safety to use a striker
>>64340733Because if you were in a war you wouldn't have time to clean your sidearm all the time. I love 1911s but I can't pretend like they can deal with dust debris etc and keep running compared to a more modern design.
>>64340733>it'd be in a holsterexactly. the entire war.
>>64340141>get 1911 government>add suppressor>appendix carry>tell everyone its your large cock that's imprinting>???>profit
>>64340694>45 hollow point expands to around 1inch diameter. 9mm is half that expansion.1911 puts 7 1" holes in a guyGlock puts 17 .5" holes in a guyThats 7" vs 8.5"Glock wins
>>64340141>CommanderSmall enough. It's John Browning. You're in good hands.
I just got a cco-ish 1911 for cc. I'm going to shoot it tomorrow I will report back if the thread is still up. Otherwise I'll report to /hg/
>>64340775>Wilson combat 10 round magazine10" vs 8.5"1911 winsNiggers survive 9mm all the time. That's why you need 45
>>64340141Where's that pic of 1911 on Mars with the perfect thread number when you need it?
>>64340619>Glock triggers don't cock the striker.Yes they do>>64340804That's because 9mm is the main nigger shooting caliber chosen by law enforcement. .45 fails just as frequently in the rare cases it's used.
>>64340961No, they don't.
>>64340804>>64340775This is such a retarded fuddlore argument. Energy transfer scales with impact resistance which scales with velocity. 9mm and 45 create very similar wound channels especially with hollow points because standard .45 loads don't have the velocity they need to expand quickly decreasing energy transfer. Bottom line, 9mm is the same objectively superior choice because it has higher capacity and lower recoil.Whenever I see these arguments online I assume the people making them can't shoot for shit
10 spicy 1cm bois in the palm of your hand mogs all
>>64340704>roleplay
I CC mine all the time and it's super comfortable. The slimness makes more of an impact than the length.
>>64341331>sub-4" barrelYou either don't own that gun or you don't own a chrono.
>>64341392the point is for conceal carryit still mogs 9mm or .45 in a similar sized barrelbut by all means carry the full size if you can
>>64341405That's like saying a Honda Civic "mogs" a Toyota Corolla. There's so little in it. You get real concerns when you're deciding between a P32 or an M69.
>>64341459The drop in velocity in a G29 vs G20 is not as much as you think>My chronograph tells me that the velocity difference isn’t that much, less is lost with heavier bullets. Handloaded 165 grain Gold Dots that average 1420 from a Glock 20 run at about 1360 out of a 29. 180 Grain XTPs that average 1350 from a 20 are running about 1305 from a 29You're better off arguing it's harder to control due to muzzle flipI'd rather train and carry a G29 for self defense over any other gun, especially in a state that limits us to 10 rounds of either caliber.
>>64341508>180 Grain XTPs that average 1350Do you have urban grizzlies or what? If you're basing your decisions on Bubbas most retarded "just use the case to scoop the power pistol and level it with the bullet" nuclear handloads there's also nothing stopping your carrying .45 Super loaded to Rowland specs or 356TSW with a 'lil extra.
