M60a3TTS with blazer ERA.Chieftain Mk 12.
>>64343752Leopard 1 and AMX 30.We need to go fast.
>>64343790>M60 & AMX 30Cannot really argue, I lean more toward>>64344047 and >Chieftain and M60 (because, reasons)But AMX30 is still a very very good tank.
>>64343752M60 with Chieftain stomp the other 3.
Only Chieftain and M60 can survive the first hit.

>>64343752AMX 30 and Leopard 1 will tear the others apart with their superior mobility
>>64345712Chieftain and M60 take the hitsLeopard and AMX 30 give the hits
>>64343752If they are ~1965 iterations with experienced crews I would say Leopard 1 and Chieftain. The Chieftain is a beast with it's thick armor and big gun. Target aquistion is worse than that of the M60 and AMX30, but not bad enough to elimante that advantage. The Leopard 1 has great mobility and the highest probability for a first round hit. The AMX 30 would be the greatest ass pain at first because it can move quickly and has that hard hitting HEAT round. It can't be allowed to get to a good position and it would be the Leopard's job to prevent that. The Chieftain would be on overlook. The T62 would just roll towards the enemy and pray that one of the other two will spot the enemy because he absolutely won't and if he would, his foggy glass WW2 style gunner scope wouldn't do shit. The M60 would move more carefully and hope for the AMX 30 to make contact. The AMX 30 and Leopard make contact and radio the other. The Leopard is faster to aquire the target and smokes the AMX. The Chieftain moves. The T62 knows there is a Leopard now but sees nothing, while the M60 puts it's sights on the Leopard. The first shot misses due to the Leopard's speed but it's crew can't spot the M60 due to stress and rushes further. The Chieftain now knows where the M60 is and shoots, but misses due to bad range finding. The T62 spots the Chieftain close and shoots and misses for the same reason and bad optics. The M60 moves into cover but doesn't lose the Leopard, which has come very close, it aims and destroys the oblivious Leopard which heavily relies on other Leopards to drive along with it.The Chieftain Aims at the T62 and takes it out resulting in a spectacular explosion, after which the Chieftain switches position and scans the area around the M60's last position and sets the range. The M60 moves from cover, spots the Chieftain and shoots, hitting the turret with no effect. The Chieftain takes aim and destroys the M60.
>>64343752Chieftain and AMX 30>whyChieftain has superior armor to every other tank, and its armor is good enough that it *could* survive 105mm and 115mm ammunition, additionally, it has the largest cannon and at the time, a rifled gun wasn't all that bad. HESH too.The AMX-30 has a decent gun along with a coaxial 20mm, while anemic against its targets the 20mm could be good for buttoning up the enemy and damaging optical equipment. It is also small and fast. It would be a good compliment to the Chieftain tank.
>>64345905>>64345910You'll still have 2 guns vs 3 guns. Armor would be more reasonable than speed.
>>64345932Armour wins in a small area with constrained terrain and chokepoints, in which taking a hit will be inevitableMobility wins in any battlefield larger than a few miles across because mobility now has initiativeWhat good is armour when you have no means to force victory except to hope the opponent makes a mistake?
>>64345929On the other hand the Chieftain had substantial reliability issues, not just with the powertrain but gun stabilization and FCS. That doesn't make it a bad tank (T-62 may not even have FCS depending on era/model), but is worth considering if the operation will take a while.
Ai says: Chieftain and Leopard.>Chieftain brings the best protection and raw long-range firepower of the five (heavy armor, big gun). Use it as the anchored tanker that can take hits and trade shots.>Leopard 1 brings mobility, speed and an excellent fire-control/aiming profile for its era — great for flanking, spotting, and finishing off targets the Chieftain pins down.Together they cover each other’s weaknesses: Chieftain anchors the front, Leopard maneuvers to kill isolated enemies or exploit flank shots. Concentrate fire, take a hull-down position with the Chieftain, and let the Leopard pick targets or force the enemy to split. Results depend a lot on terrain, range, ammo types and crew skill — in open flat country a mobile pairing (Leopard + AMX-30) might be preferable, in hull-down/defensive ground you want the Chieftain.*It also said that M60 and T-62 are generally suck.
>>64343859Go back to where you came from, we can all tell at a glance you don't understand a single word that you typed.
>>64343752Following >>64345918 's example, I'm going to fill in the blanks by assuming the situation is two African militias like the MPLA vs UNITA having a turf war over their adjacent towns at the peak of mid-80s cold war tension. Due to foreign involvement, expert mercenaries with friends in high places are operating the tanks.Under those conditions, I select a Jordanian Chieftain "Khalid" fitted with Stillbrew TOGS thermal optics and a T-62M-1 with Kontact-1 applied. Making use of their guns' greater range and caliber/payload, we bombard the enemy position with HE to compel them into an attack, giving us the decisive advantage of fighting from prepared positions much like the Israelis.Composite armor and 9M117 ATGMs should help eke out the victory, while the extensive ERA coverage on our T-62 reduces the threat of lucky RPG-7 or B-10 RR hits from militia strongpoints or technicals as our forces secure the opposing town. As the opposing M60A3TTS/L1A5/AMX-30B2 (+BRENUS or Super) will likely own the night, we should retire to our own town/staging area if they refuse battle, well prior to dusk, and count on attrition to secure victory (and our paychecks) instead.
