Russian Dragoons and Russian Cavalry doctrine were two different things, and their weaponry reflected it. Cavalry had carbines with no bayonets, or in the case of the Cossacks they had rifles which were sighted in without bayonets affixed. Russian Dragoons had rifles sighted with bayonets fixed just like the Russian infantry, because it was intended that they would be doing their shooting on foot rather than the back of a horse.
