Post the new pick ups. I picked up a Ruger 5.7 at a gun show over the weekend and two Glock 17s the weekend before.

AKB-23 kit. I already had a BRN-180 upper, so I went for it. Runs great but blows a lot of gas in my face, so it'll need some tuning.

Why yes I am retarded enough to buy a worn out bored out 100+ y/o SMLE that was in service in India much longer than its (likely) original British service. And this pic is after several attempts at degreasing the wood; it was black with oil originally.

And it requires some woodworking. Repairing the front handguard instead of replacing it; half of it was missing. Probably over 4 hours just carving wood to get to this point if not more. And then I have to do the entire rear handguard that's entirely missing (except the clip which was included, thank god).

Only thing I've got recently was a Strike Arms Glock 19 frame. Still haven't bought a slide because I'm not sure if I want one of Strike's, OEM, or a ported one

About 3 weeks ago I picked up a 460 xvr xframe. 1300$ but it came with goodies. 2k large magnum pistol primers. 50 ftx Hornady bullets, a 460 xvr die set, 30 pieces each of 460 and 454 casull brass, about 40 rounds of 454 casull, and about 220 rounds of 460 xvr ammo. Pretty good deal all things considered

No I paid $100 less than any gun store for a new Ruger 5.7, did an even trade with a used gun for a new gen 4 Glock 17, and paid a fair price for a used gen 1 17 then sold a rifle to that guy 6 minutes later

Oh that's after boiling most parts to convert the rust back to bluing (except rear sight wings as I thought it was going to be rusted so bad it wouldn't unscrew) and degreasing the wood a little. It came to me BLACK and I have probably 2-3" of light to medium pitting in front of the chamber. Going to get it bored to .410 shotshell eventually so I hope the forcing cone cuts most of that shit out and leaves it smooth. No bolt. But it was $70+ship+transfer so...
https://centerfiresystems.com/ishapore-no-1-mk-iii-shotgun-model-410-musket-surplus-incomplete-c-r-eligible/
Also the barrel and receiver is painted green under the stockline (in rare cases, tan). This was done as rust prevention and as much as I'll make fun of it, it did work somehow despite the paint quality. Unfortunately now I have to stabilize 2-3 layers of various shades of (probably leaded) green paint on the entire barrel and some of the receiver and somehow convert the rust on the receiver without damaging the paint. I'll probably hit it with Rustoleum Clear Satin/Semi-Gloss (don't let /msg/ hear lol) as regular maintenance makes it flake or rub. I wish they coated the whole fucking gun in the stuff instead of what I think they did to the stock which was dip it in used motor oil?

How much? There's an H&R not-a-999 (some other 3 digit model, but otherwise a 999) nearby that's not too bad price-wise and in good condition but I'm flat fucking broke.

I think all of it is salvageable more or less, but some of it needs some extra attention. Stock screws needed a Dremel to cut the slots deeper with a cutoff disc before unscrewing (they were around or under 1mm depth) and then I finished the slots with a hacksaw. A lot less ghetto than it sounds but the pros use a Dremel followed by a special screw slot file I don't have the time, patience, or will to light money on fire for that kind of shit when a hacksaw does the same job. Have to be careful not to hit the buttplate when widening the slot for initial removal. This screw simply would not turn no matter how much force I put into turning it; shit felt like it was fused to the buttplate and the buttplate to the buttstock. Can you guess why?

Surprisingly enough I think I'm going to reuse this screw. And why yes, I am retarded. Also the gun was bored out to .410 Indian Musket in 1931 and converted to single shot with a "loading tray" (magazine follower on the wooden block pinned in the magwell) for Indian use as Britain had second thoughts about giving India 10rd .303 SMLEs. Needs the barrel to be re-cut to widen the chamber for .410 Shotshells so I can shoot it without putting stupid amounts of effort into what is basically fireforming .303 shells into .410 shotshells. .410 IM chamber is tighter than a real .410 shotgun and .303s can be fireformed into .410 IM or .410 shotshells as well; they're very close. No real reason for me to cut myself off from commercial .410 shells if all it takes is a chamber reamer. I certainly don't have the time, equipment, money, or effort to throw into loading some obscure might-as-well-be-a-410-shotshell caliber at the moment and if I ever hunt with it (big if), fuck having to make the world's only .410 IM FliteControl ammo myself.

I love these revolvers. Finally found one myself at a gun show a while ago. An overlooked feature of these H&R top breaks is how much easier they are to clean. Like the top break makes cleaning the barrel easier, but the cylinder also comes off with a button press which makes cleaning the chambers easier and you can also get the cylinder bore and the arbor without fucking around with screws. Helpful with .22s shooting a dirty round and seeing higher round counts on range days. But most importantly, top break revolvers are factually the coolest revolvers. It’s criminal that NAA are the only people making a new one so there’s just that and Uberti reproduction Schofields being made for top breaks now. If I could make my own guns I’d make a compact double action top break chambered in .32 H&R magnum or .327 federal with a shrouded hammer like the camel hump J frames. Like a modernized vest pocket/velodog revolver. And I’d give it a 3” barrel too. None of this 2” or 1&7/8” barreled bullshit. Nobody will notice that extra inch when carrying and you get a lot more energy out of the same cartridge.

>>64360347
Most recent acquisition is this reproduction colt navy conversion chambered in 38spc. Fun for target shooting. Really accurate too, even with the rear sight notch on the hammer, but that also gives it like a one foot sight radius.

With a quick search, all of the internet listings I see are $550 to $750 except auctions with over a week left that just haven’t inevitably hit $600 yet. No idea where Anon found one for $300. A couple years ago I paid $400(?) for mine and that was after talking the guy down from $525 or $550ish, but it’s in really good condition so I didn’t mind. And I also had a physical need for the pistol so I would have paid $550 too, I just didn’t let the other guy know that. Maybe just ask yourself if a year from now whether or not you’ll regret scooping it up? It’s just a .22 target pistol so no big loss, but it’s also an interesting and unique .22 target pistol that’s been out of production for almost 40 years and will only get more expensive.
