Are motorcycle assaults the only possible tactic left in a war where neither side has air superiority?Any vehicle you use will just get droned anyway so the only option is to go fast
Still won't go faster than radio, artillery, drones or bullets.

>>64365770Really makes that massive zigger cryfest in the last thread funny, doesn't it?
>>64365770No, it's a desperate tactic because they're running out of APCs, and because these dudes are not meant to win anything. They're just a recon-by-dying meat wave meant to out ukrainian positins and strenght in their sector, so another wave can target them. It's the same WW1 tactic that russians have never stopped using.>>64365777Probably not. >>64365826Mods woke up, and to be fair it was an offtopic geopolitical threadIn this thread, we are only discussing military tactics and equipment
>>64365777do you understand that you are going to die?
>>64365770>Only possible tactic>Provides proof that it isnt possibleAs with the last 80-90 years of warfare, air superiority and SEAD is the only valid tactic. If you control the skies it doesn't really matter how many 500 dollar drones you send up since any supply lines/production centers will get BTFO.So dont have a start wars unless you can do SEAD.
>>64365845I mean philosophically, yes, we're all dying, but for the idiots in the webm their death appears to have been very near, do you think they knew?
This works in videogames with big maps if you drive on the map edge but I guess in real life they just have eyes on the whole frontline and you can't slip by even if you try a 100 different spots?
>>64365845Nah, I'm not gonna do that. Dying is dumb.
>>64365770zigzog BBQ kek
>>64365770It's one of the only 2 they're really attempting right now. 1. If you send 20 guys on bikes then some might make it through and consolidate in some bush near a Ukranian position. If those guys aren't spotted and liquidated you will eventually end up with 20 guys who will then attack said position and maybe or maybe not take it.2. Send in small groups of 2-5 men on foot to sneak in between Ukraine positions to ambush them in the backline and cause chaos. It's not like they can't scrounge up a BTR-60, T-62 or BMP to send in with their meatwaveviks but the material they're wasting is more valuable than they are so they don't bother.
>>64365887The biggest problem is Ukraine has so much local recon capability that anytime the russians get a few armored vehicles together to try and assault they start coming under attack km behind the lines. There's a new video every few days of a tank or two and a couple APCs getting blown up on their way to a frontline position.
>>64365770Motorcycle assaults are very trad and based, wectern dogs wouldn't understand
>>64365770https://youtu.be/ZNNo8bSfOe4
There's a reason for that
>>64366045Does this mean russia is running out of armoured vehicles, or its stockpiling them for some major push (probably Pokrovsk)
>>64366054Both can be true at the same time. The amount of available tanks is decreasing, so instead of being able to constantly throw dozens of tanks at the next random village, as Russia did in 2023, they have to wait and pool enough of them, before they can take an action.
>>64365770>so the only option is to go fastyep
>>64366078Thats some twisted metal kind of shit
>>64366078Dios mio
>>64366078
>>64365887What you said is true, but on top of that I have no doubt that there are sectors, where the logistics is so degraded that they couldn’t get a proper tank to the front even if they wanted to.
>>64365770>Any vehicle you use will just get droned anyway so the only option is to go fastnow thats just stupid,, because the ukranians have pretty clearly said that you need armor to go any distance at all because anything that isnt covered in a mountain of armor gets artilleried to pieces armor is mobility
>>64366054You keep pushing this narrative. I don't understand your logic.>well they're disappearing from the stockpile and their alleged refurbishment rate exceeds their appearance at the frontWe'll start with the obvious, ALLEGED refurbishment rate. Russia has so far lied about every single production rate they've talked about. Secondly, they're taking increasingly decrepit, poorly stored, cannibalized, and outright stolen from hulks and doing whatever they can to return them to service. This most likely includes turning four or five hulks into one usable tank depending on how trashed they are. Third, we've seen constant video evidence of armor being thrown in piecemeal multiple times a week for months now. If you're building a "strategic reserve" you don't take shit straight from the factory and toss it randomly at a basically frozen front. And let's, for the sake of argument, assume I'm 100% incorrect. What happens when they send an armored column to Pokrovsk? When the Ukranians release their stock of anti-tank weapons against it? Even assuming they manage to capture Pokrovsk what next? They couldn't make their armored fists work in 2022 when they had complete superiority in every capacity: AFVs, artillery, transport, professional soldiers. They now have everything Ukraine has been holding onto directed at these tanks which represent many months if not years of refurbishment. They now lack the logistics train to supply them. They lack the air forces to cover them. They lack the artillery to support them. Even if they did capture the sixth dimensional hyperfortress Ukraine just falls back to the twin cities behind them and russia spends another couple years trying to grind them down only now they've lost another several hundred to a thousand irreplacable tanks while digging deeper into the rust heap. There is no reserve that will be used. Russia is scraping the barrel for any form of armor. They will never make an armored push again.
watching these guys get mowed down is just sad...
>>64365857Static defense IRL is a lot more effective than RTS games are going to make it, since stalemates are something devs actively want to avoid. Also production and resource acquisition isn't as centralized as it tends to be in RTS games. You can't just run 5 buggies with flamethrowers into your enemy's main production center. Not only will they probably not make it (or just get lost), but you won't magically evaporate 90% of a completely braindead workforce just because the foreman was taking a nap and couldn't tell the workers to stop standing in the fire.

>>64365770No, you can also go underground like WW1 and medieval sappers. I mean thats basically what hamas and hezbollah are doing rn since they don't have any ability to contest the air. Its safer but much slower. Kind of surprised Ukraine or Russia didn't try to exploit the massive shallow evaporite formations in the east that have been mined for centuries to facilitate a mass sapper-enabled breakthrough. Go under the lines instead of over or through them. Normally that would be possible but not really practical, but in a salt substrate that completely changes. You can tunnel very fast through salt, its opaque to seismic reflection and doesn't leave any railings behind for a drone or whatever to spot as you are extending the works.

>>64368116>Tunneling is easily detectable with seismic sensorsSort of, but its more accurate to say in some conditions it is possible to detect tunneling with seismic. Its rarely easy, frequently would be extremely difficult, and in some substrates its literally impossible. There are a lot of difficulties using seismic for tunnel detection. I'm a petroleum geologist and a big part of the job is seismic interpretation. It's a pretty interesting set of techniques so I'll explain some of the limitations of it. First, you have the sensor problem. You are probably thinking you can just use first arrival triangulation on a seismometer like we do for earthquakes. This world for earthquakes, because the signal is fuck-heug, like more energy than a nuclear detonation, and the exact lithologies, pore fluid types, and strat coulmn between the fault plane and the sensor are known. Also, they have very deep foci generally, way deeper than any mining operation so there is almost no surface noise interference. And finally, earthquakes aren't capable of counterplay against a geologist trying to locate them. A sapping crew can do all sorts of things to fuck up first arrival times and cause wave bending, and generally make triangulation functionally impossible. Installing random sheets of metal in surface trenches at weird angles, leaving some galleries flooded (not dewatering them) so you get massive lateral amplitude changes, timing your blasting with other random surface detonations elsewhere (or subsurface, if you want to be a real dick), tunneling directly below a major impedance boundary, the list goes on and on. And thats if you're forced to have to work with a substrate like endurated sandstone or limestone or granite or something. With Salt you don't have to even blast, you just spray it with a garden hose to tunnel ahead. There is no source signal to even try to triangulate. So passive is out. I can explain why active won't work either if you're interested.

>>64368452I'm not the guy you were responding to but I do find seismology fascinating and came very close to entering that field professionally. Question: in WW2 the Germans had sensors to detect digging noises from tunnelers. And of course the USA had sensors to detect road and foot traffic in Vietnam, and the whole area around Area-51 is littered with seismic motion detectors. These same things could be used, couldn't they?
>>64368452As a complete layperson, I'm guessing that active detection would a) require enormous amounts of energy to get decent detection range, due to the quartic relation between sensor energy and range, and b) would produce a ridiculous amount of false returns, because the ground isn't exactly a consistent medium so random natural boundary layers are going to look nigh indistinguishable from a void caused by tunnelling. >>64369783with nuclear fire inshallah please donal do the funny
>>64369591You're not wrong to point those out but there is a lot of nuance here. Firstly, it's like an attackers advantage here, where the counter sappers of WW1 had the technological edge because we could not yet well operationalize sound making techniques until ADM Hess opened the door and ASW and the Oil Patch (and weirdly also Auto-tune) started their collaboration. In Vietnam those were sensors targeting surface targets which is way easier than subsurface targets so not really an apples to apples comparison. And in both cases you mention, overall they didn't work well even with the offensive sappers being handicapped. >>64369600Those are good intuitions which get to the physics rules ultimately governing it but generally you use a less energetic source and a distributed gather (an array, geologists just have to be dicks and invent new redundant vocabulary at all times). The problem is laying a gather takes quite a while and I don't see how it would be remotely possible near the front line. The false returns would be a very severe problem also, although it's kind of more accurate to think of them as reducing signal to noise to unusable levels than actually being a true false positive
>>64369783To be honest, out of 140 million people, the majority of the population are old women.I don't think that's a good mobilization reserve.https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidkirichenko/2025/10/07/cubans-could-soon-become-russias-largest-foreign-fighting-force/>According to Ukrainian officials, as many as 25,000 Cubans could soon be fighting for Russia, overtaking North Koreans as the largest contingent of foreign troops on the battlefield.
>>64369591>>64369600>the ground isn't exactly a consistent medium so random natural boundary layers are going to look nigh indistinguishable from a void caused by tunnelling. How close am I?Sort of close But your question shows how easily a group can defeat seismic sensing. When you have an impedance change, which is basically a density change with a significant, complex modifying function of relative position to the sensor and youngs modulus of the formation. A tunnel shaft will absolutely create a major impedance change that can be imaged, but only about a 70m+/- vertical resolution under ideal circumstances. And you can use that impedance vulnerability into an advantage if you tunnel along where the two different densities meet, like the middle of the wavelet
>>64369098>AssaultThat's so old-fashioned. In modern times you just recon and deal with targets using your radio.
>>64369591And basically, sorry because it is interesting, the whole deal you're referencing is basically operating on shear wave sensing not primary (compressional) wave sensing. Sheer is really, really hard to deconvolute underground so is rarely used. Almost everything works off primary data until you start getting into the real dark arts of geophysics
>>64368452>sapping crew can do all sorts of things to fuck up first arrival times and cause wave bending, and generally make triangulation functionally impossible. >>64367451War has changed. Vodka-fuelled soldiers ride vodka-fuelled bikes, use vodka-soaked weapons.
>>64371075Sure. Its always gratifying when people are interested in your obscure profession. For active, you need 2 things, a source and a gather. The source is, on land, usually a Betsy gun (like an 8 ga shotgun mounted on a dolly, its what you see them using in the first scene of the original Jurrasic Park), dynamite, or a Thumper truck, those are in order of what you would use for increasingly large areas of observation. The gather are geophones, they are arranged in a grid over what you want to look at in the subsurface. Its important you know precisely where they are located relative to the source so you can calculate amplitude versus offset, basically the slant range to the reflector. So, basically you blow up the dynamite which propagates a compressional force into the earth. As it goes down, at each change in the impedance of the rock it encounters (basically the speed of sound in a rock) a small amount of energy is reflected back, which the geophones hear. So you take all those two way travel times to different "reflectors" and then figure out the velocity of the wave between each and convert your two way travel time between each reflector into depth instead of time. So you can probably see the problems with this for detecting a Ukrainian sapper tunnel. Putting out a gather in the grey zone seems like a really good way to get killed. Secondly the arrangement is very sensitive to surface noise. When we do a shot like that we have to have the rancher move his cattle to the entire other side of the ranch so their footsteps (hoofsteps?) Don't drown the return signal, which is very faint. You have all kinds of explosions and gunfire in the greyzone so that would be a major problem. Thirdly, the raw TWTT depths are not very precise since the impedance shift between two formations is not typically very stark. So the raw data has a depth resolution of about 150-200 feet, due to the wavelength of the compressional wave and other things.
>>64371075>>64371236So we can refine that using well ties and a process called inversion. Basically we take a core in or near the area of the gather so we can ground truth the formation thicknesses and then use the seismic to image between known control points. I think trying to get a rig out to do the very slow work of coring (about 4 feet of penetration per minute for a very strong rig is normal) near the gather would also be a very good way to get killed. Then we can directly sample the core material to get stuff like bulk density, grain density, bulk modulus, etc and substitute those terms in for the acoustic velocities to further refine the seismic depths, thats the inversion process. In my original post, I said to tunnel through the salt bodies in Eastern Ukraine. Salt absolutely fucks active collection because it is basically a perfect reflector so all the energy bounces off the top and none passes into the interior. Its essentially opaque to active seismic. On land, you're just kind of fucked and there is no way to look below it. In the Gulf of Mexico you can kind of image underneath salt because you have the offset of the water depth to the air guns and towed array so you can kind of look at it sideways. Even that doesn't work well but is occasionally useful. In any case, you still can't see inside the salt body with active under any situation, so sappers moving through it would be invisible to active collection, and since you can excavate it with a garden hose, invisible to passive collection as well

>>64367993He was trying to lift the bike of his cumrade. Then droe hit his comically large backpack (so he wasn't the driver I reckon).Backpack flew off and he "survived". His head is the small light gray thing.
Not even Pajeets and Pakis are so suicidal despite have a much larger population.
>>64371179>all their operatives were capture or neutralizedNot all of them, but enough to fuck over most of things. For me the funniest example was FSB niggers sending specops teams to Kyiv whom had to raid the government district when shit would hit the fan. Those retards came to the city and started eyeing up fancy apartments and offices in the city center, minutes away from the government district, to use as their safe-houses. All looking typically as goons. Posing as businessmen from Donbas. With weird IDs and such. Didn't pass the smell test, so an owner of some of that real estate decided to run a background check, it showed nothing, literally nothing, which would be impossible. So they denied to rent shit to them under some BS reason and called SBU instead. SBU tracked those retards in Kyiv for almost two months and caught them the moment they've stepped out from a rented apartment on February 24th kek.

>>64370802I think Cucker got disillusioned with Russia when he interviewed Putin and realized the dude was a decrepit old lunatic desperate to forge a legacy.
>>64369903>Cubans
>>64372207>russians develop jetpacks for air assaults>we get footage of gepards shooting them down

>>64371282>>64365845Are you retarded?
Ukrainians now have belt fed full fun steam decks.

>>64372539They'll probably help decrease the HIV rate too.
>>64372549For a little context, puccia has recently dropped the requirement for immigrant workers to be able to speak their retarded homolanguage
they also do major motorcycle assaults in africa

>>64371275Fascinating, I'm always interested to hear about tangential shit like this in random /k/ threads
>>64367827>No, you can also go underground like WW1 and medieval sappersinfantry is already living in burrows on account how deadly the open sky is
>>64373028Why would you film your crime like this
>>64374944puccians aren't generally known for their cleverness
>>64370572>You should have "civilians" in the country you're at war with destroying all infrastructure while also assassinating all political leadersthey tried that many, many times. Turns out if you completely underestimate your opponent and they are organized in action, armed saboteurs and assassins are mostly a meme. They are down to recruiting drug addicts and teenagers in telegram for random arson and terrorism>There's a reason Russia hasn't won in multiple years against a country they should have steamrolled in a week on paperUkraine is the largest country in europe by clay size. nobody was claiming that except propaganda and arm chair generals like (you). in fact the 200k invasion force was comically small for the size, as was pointed out many times pre invasion. It was enough for crimea land bridge bum rush but not much else. which more or less happened for comparison for midwits in ww2 germans had to dedicate 300k dicks for Odessa region alone while storming through ukraine
>>64374944It's only a crime is they get prosecuted. They won't be. It's supported by the regime. They torture their own to instill fear and discipline.
>>64374944They sort of moved on from prison rape gang and switched over to being a full time death cult, with rape
>>64374949>puccia did a shit job of the initial invasion because they are incapable of anything else, therefore they are actually very strong >no nevermind that it was transparently an attempted decapitation strike that we are now trying to memoryhole, no just don't look at what we actually did, or our attempt at Kyiv, I'm telling you we actually never intended to do anything of the sortlol
>>64374949For decades people also had many lulz about Barbarossa being launched with about 40-50 days worth of supplies, shit gear, lack of fuel and just go full send into the Soviet Union because it'll be fine>Even though they were told its a bit fucky and you know, maybe somewhere between 300-400 days of supplies might be more realistic.>nah, fuck it >go anyway!Which is why you should never listen to a vegetarian corporal on meth for your strategic planningLaunch invasion into Ukraine>Half the military runs out of fuel over its own border within about 100-150km, because sell it for vodka>most of them run out of food in 3 days>end up stuck on a highway eating dicks and missiles for a week>VDV gets beat up by the border copsWhich is why you should never listen to a hypochondriac former KGB zigger with a napoleon complexI think the takeaway from all this is, just don't start bum fights in eastern europe unless you want to be remembered as a hilarious failure
>>64374944How else are the other mobiks supposed to know what will happen if they disobey?
>>64373028>electrocuted refuseniksFun fact the FSB has a special box for this. Its a small-ish generator inside a box with a hand crank and some knobs/dials. Spin the crank to generate current and pain in whoever you attached to the wires. Kind of looks like an old timey rotary phone, and because of this the FSB glowniggers call this practice "Making a phone call to Putin."Now that I think about it, its probably a repurposed field telephone
>>64375562what is it with communists and torture? it's like a national sport
>>64375595Brutalized peoples are easier to control. Also because it was done to them, they now do it to others for the power they used to lack. Crabs don't let crabs escape the rape bucket. It started with the Mongols who were the first ones to buck-break the Russians as thoroughly as they did. This abuse lasted far longer for the Russians than it did for most others the Mongols conquered- mainly because of the geography and because the Mongols discovered the joy of a servile russian anus.
>>64365770No, the next tactic is risking your airframes anyway because there is basically no other means to advance.
