Hello /k, what do you guys personally recommend for a 9mm striker these days? Im looking for something with a good trigger out of the box and a soft recoiling fast shooter, optics ready would be a bonus. Currently im torn between a Steyr M9 cause it just looks cool and seems a good allrounder for the price (no optic cut tho), PDP pro cause of the crisp trigger but everyone says it recoils a lot? and a 43X MOS RMSc combo. M9 is 850eur, PDP Pro 1.2k, 43X around 1.2k too. Any other recommends? I am coming from a USP 45T and i love the gun but i cant shoot fast with it for the life of me
How is the Springfield Echelon? Anyone with experience with one?
>>64377145Was looking at the Echelon as well, also have some BUL Hatchet models here for around 1.1k, wonder how those compare to all the mentioned ones above
PDP doesn't really feel more or less snappy than any other striker pistol out there in my experience. If ugly fucking guns are under consideration, I'd throw the VP9 in as well.
>>64377284I honestly dont find the PDP or VP9 ugly, i actually quite like how the PDP looks and it was at the top of my list, but almost everyone says its snappy, so that really threw me off and made me reconsider
Everybody whose ever shot the Steyr M9 raves about it. Awesome gun. But let's be real, you're probably gonna buy the Glock because they go bang every time and their magazines are the best in the industry. I have a Glock in my waistband right now, not because I have any particular brand fetish, but because it's a generic reliable bullet-throwing device that is mechanically simple, has an established track record, and the best aftermarket support compared to its competitors. It isn't "Perfection" by a long shot - other manufacturers surpass them by one parameter or another - but it's the perfect embodiment of "Good Enough." It's like the Casio of putting holes in things.
>SNAPPY>SNAPPY>SNAPPY>SNAPPYHoly fuck you guys are such annoying faggots everything is always "snappy" get a fucking grip it's a handgun, it has recoil, it has muzzle rise. I'm so sick of hearing about "snappy" guns from my micro-9 search that I went through this year. Just buy a comped race gun and shut up already if you're so worried about "snap", you twats.
>>64377083I have a Steyr L9A1 and I really love it. Pros:>looks funky>trigger is extremely crisp and solid>low-ish bore axis >extremely accurate>flat recoil>comfy grip angleCons:>looks funky>sights have a big learning curve>limited aftermarket upgrades(optic cuts, dedicated concealment holsters etc)>magazines are difficult to find at timesOnce you get used to the sights it’s very easy to just point instinctively and get rounds on target. They’re definitely an underrated little gem, like I said I love mine
>>64377331I honestly tend to disregard anybody that says "x gun is too snappy." Often as not I guarantee you they either a) don't shoot very often so literally anything will feel snappy, or b) have a poor grip on the gun. That said, I tend to like shooting larger caliber pistols anyway, so it could be that I'm also not necessarily a great judge of recoil either. One of the few instances of a legitimately uncomfortable "snappy" gun I've had was shooting hot .357 ammo out of a scandium framed Smith snubby revolver.
>>64377083m&p 2.0 an option. Cheap and good. You can get le trade in ones for cheap
>>64377618This. I used to hate the look but I saw a compact 4 inch one and really like the look with a light on it so I bought one. It shoots as good as any striker gun they're mostly the same. It seems to be more rugged/survivable per random YouTube testing compared to peers if that matters to you. Trex did a good test of the mp2, p320, and g19 (compact pistol test) with autistic detail and he said it was very good and as annoying as that faggot is his methodology for testing is good usually.I think glocks look sexy with lights on as well. My g26 was good but I sold it because it's not very comfy to carry vs competitors that are newer.I carry an FN reflex and it's very good. Slim, shoots good, looks very nice with a dot on it. Again all this shit is the same so I go with looks and basic functionality. Trigger is very very light but I got a model with external safety because fuck it I guess that's a thing and it's good.
>>64377083glock 19 gen 5 MOS is my go-to. about 4k rounds through mine and I like it. If you want a "better" version, try the ruger RXM (no idea how longevity is but they feel great for glock clones). The ergos, mag release, and optic ready platform at $400USD is a great combo. The walther PDP has easily the best striker fired pistol trigger i've ever shot. they're also insanely great for parts longevity. OF NOTE- you should be able to handle a stock gen3 glock trigger and recoil without issue as a competent shooter. work on trigger pull and support hand grip instead of engineering over user shortcomings first. then get something a little more racy.>>64377618fantastic option as well. trigger is not bad either. not the biggest fan of the magwell and reloads compared to a gen5 glock flare.>>64377368in fairness people don't communicate this concept well. poly guns feel "snappy" because the recoil impulse is pretty fast and sharp. metal framed shit feels like more of a "push" so peoples monkey brains feel better about it.But yes correct. literally grip the gun better lol.
>>64377083>good triggerI would advise using what you have and putting the cash you were about to waste on a new toy towards professionally guided training. You don't know what you're doing kid.
>>64378947Shut the fuck up retard.
>>64377284Vp9 is a great gun. I swear I shoot it better than the staccato.
OP here, thank you for all the inputs. Im probably leaving the PDP and Steyr M9A2 as my choices and will check these out in store to see which one fits my hand better and go with that, i just hope im not loosing out on too much by not having the optic ready slide and Walthers longevity. As for the glock, the first time i picked up a gen 3 19, i almost instantly shot it better or rather could put rounds faster on target than with my USP 45, so i cant say anything bad about glocks, theyre just a bit boring for my taste. For the whole SNAPPY thing, i understand that every 9mm feels that way, thats why i originally went with a big ass 45, the USP feels more like a push on your whole arms and slowly gets back on target without doing much, while some 9s feel like theyre just trying to slip out of my palms kek, but theres no denying some have less recoil than others, obviously with proper technique you can iron these things out
PDP gud
Theres also the Archon Type G GEN2, seems like it does tick all my needs (now IT i would call ugly tho), but 1.5k is a bit steep. Anyone shot these?
>PDP>VP9>APX>Glock 17>Glock 19>M&P 2.0I own everything except the PDP and while I do own an M&P it's a 1.0 and I haven't shot it yet due to it being at the gunsmith. With that said, they all shoot great and I think out of all them, the VP9 is probably the best.If I had to pick, I would say go for a PDP.I would get one too but I'm kind of checking out of buying guns for at least six months.
>>64377083Just get a PDP compact it's the best striker fired pistol on the market>>64378947>Consoom slopguns goy!Post guns retard, oh wait you live in ze pod and eat ze bugs kek
you just like walther because its german
>>64379938German and it has a genuinely good trigger across all their guns and they have a long and established history
Echelon. Hands down.
>>64377331I dont have a PDP but I've got a PPQ (they're mechanically identical afaik). It has more muzzle flip than a glock but it also returns really well. If your grip is solid the gun will go fast but its more violent than a glock while doing so.
>>64377083If you already have a G19 then just buy the OEM Glock Performance Trigger for like $80.>tfw my lgs had the G19 COA the other week and I didn't buy it
>>64383846I dont have a Glock, i only got the USP 45T currently, which im selling and buying one of the 9s mentioned here. A new 43x optics ready with the RMSc combo runs around 1.3k here which to me is insane money for a glock, so i rather get something more interesting and better from the factory if im gonna spend this amount. The Steyr is really growing on me, i love how unique it is, and i might forgive the NOT optics ready slide for the weird and quirky irons it has. Everything else about it seems about on par with the PDP, and i suppose ill take the super low bore axis over the slightly crispier trigger of the PDP Pro i was originally going for. Honestly these all seem like superb choices, and looks like its gonna come down to which one i like the most visually
>>64384007>i only got the USP 45T currently, which im selling and buying one of the 9s mentioned here. Why on earth would you sell one of the best guns ever to buy some literal piece of crap made on a budget for the lowest common denominator? Because that's what generic 9mm strikershit is. You can find used ones for $350-400 all day.
>>64384086Oh i know trust me, the USP was one of my dream guns for a long time, but 45 acp is 50-55 cents per round here and it never goes below that, while 9mm is 22-26 cents at most, so if i want to put some serious range time in, im paying double for ammo shooting the USP. The second reason is i simply just cant shoot it as fast and precise as i can a generic 9mm striker like the G19, even tho the USP itself is probably a more accurate gun, it just sadly doesnt work for me so skill issue i guess? If i could financially, id keep it forever just because, but since i want to actually shoot the gun and not just stare at it, its gonna have to be exchanged for a 9mm. If i could get a deal here on a Steyr M9A2 for 300 bucks like i see them go in the US, of course id just shell out the cash for the second gun and keep the USP, but since the Steyr is like 850 here new, i pretty much have sell the USP to get another gun financially. I also bought the last new USP 45T in the country and it hasnt been restocked since kek, so im even more sad to let it go, but i am getting back what i paid for it at least
>>64377368I agree, people tend to blame the weapon instead of themselves. For instance, Glock triggers are great, people just suck at shooting.
>>64377083My next shtriker is gonna be a VP9.
>>64384635Indeed, being able to adapt helps. It's like driving different kind of cars, you gotta dial each one in and give yourself a chance to.
>>64377083Mete SFX has a pretty soft trigger if you're not adverse to turkshit
>>64384741Is Turkshit new to the game? I never see them in my LGS but they seem to be everywhere online now.
>>64384635>>64384726Obviously the guy who shot 50k rounds through a Glock will outshoot a guy that shot 1k rounds through an Alien with said Glock, but lets not pretend some triggers are way nicer than others, which helps the overall shooting experience.>>64384975Caniks have been around for a while now, theyre especially shilled by gun stores here in Europe cause i imagine they get some high margins off of them. I have seen enough images on here of them exploding, so id pass, unless u get the top tier Canik model for like 350US, i wouldnt pay more than that lol
