How so e collars work for recall on hunting dogs? Covey has one and she seems happy as fuck with it. in one of the training videos she's waging her tail while wearing 2 of them and Ron doesn't seem like the kind of guy to abuse his pet. He always talks about how much he likes Covey and how she plays with his grandkids

It's a training tool and a last ditch "snap out of it" thing when they're being dog-brained and about to get themselves in trouble and won't listen to verbal commands. I never needed to even use the vibrate function, let alone any of the shocks. Just the beep was enough to get my dog to focus. She's the happiest dog you'll ever meet. Positive-reinforcement-only trainers are not real trainers any more than reiki practitioners are doctors.

He responds to the beeps very well, they’re extremely useful especially if you’re bonded with your dog

For me at least it was a major impetus to go suppressed and one of the things that particularly pisses me off about the bullshit of cans being on the NFA. Impossible to know how many millions of dogs the feds have caused to be deafened over the decades thanks to that. Everyone always thinks of the ATF shooting dogs but not of the role they play in destroying the ears of those they can't shoot.
