>Spanish galleon “El Marigalante” sank off the coast of Mexico
>>
>>64386461
>>64386462
That's fucking wild to see, I'll be remembering this when we have age of sail threads
>>
>>64386461
What's going on with meh he co?
>>
FUCK
I really like modern repros (or even better, carefully maintained originals) of age of sail ships.

Passed down to you by Cuauhtémoc, Eagle Warrior of Tenochtitlan. An omen appeared above the forest, the shape of an ear of corn, but blazing like daybreak. It seemed to bleed fire, drop by drop, like a wound in the sky. I am a warrior, not a priest, and knew not what to make of such a sign.
>>
The British must be responsible for this
>>
>>64386461
Thats crazy fast, imagine being an age of sail gun crew stuck below decks while that happens
>>
>>64386515
You'd probably already be dead. It was really hard to sink wooden ships, so if the enemy had managed to put enough holes in the ship to accomplish that, most of the men below decks would have found themselves in the path of the shot that made those holes.
>>
>>64386515
Gone in 60 seconds, that’s terrifying
Might have taken a while to get to that point though so all those onlookers could arrive
>>
>>64386461
Apparently it was just some shitty replica, so that's good at least.
>>
>>64386461
So sad when they go so young.

Was it loaded with gold and silver?
>>
>>64386461
A bilge pump failure? So there was water constantly gushing into the goddam thing and the lazy fucking spics didn't bother to patch the hull? What the actual fuck.
>>
>>64386461
Argh mateys, we be on the way to New Spain to plunder Spanish booty. There be and equal share to each man who manages to survive.

>Spanish galleon
that wasn't a "Spanish galleon", ffs.
it was a mexican-made fake pirate ship for tourists
>>
>>64386461
So what blew up in London today?
>>
>>64386545
If it's so hard, then why is the ship in OP sinking so fast? Did someone just pummel it with artillery? Was it a hellfire from Trump's anti smuggling operation.

>that's a suspicious ship, must be drug runners
>>
>>64387297
that's disgusting
>>
>>64386497
Spanish have put out an all points bulletin for a Sir Francis Drake
>>
>>64387268
ngl, that looks terrifying. I can only imagine the panic of a 16th century sailor who gets to see the sight of that.
>>
>>64387297
So . . . A Spaniard Gaylleon?
>>
>>64387297
of all the tacky shit the bermuda schooner rig disgusts me the most here
>>
When wooden ships are in tropical waters, damage caused by shipworms is accelerated.
It seems best not to insist on using all-wood construction for replica tour boats.
>>
>>64386490
It was replica of Santa Maria, made from what remains of original drawings, built between 1987 and 1992 to commemorate 500th anniversary of the discovery of America.

>>64386515
>>64386545
Quick googling says its bilge pump failure that was somehow turned worse by repair attempts. Odds are it took hours to get to the point where ship starts to take in water from gun ports and all the holes in the deck. Only the end is fast.

>>64387297
It was originally, I guess it was damaged by Disney making Pirates of Caribbean.

>>64387452
I guess the original rigging was too much of work and way too expensive for amusing tourists.
>>
>>64387297
The only reference in the spanish press I've found is a news item from 1987 - it it's the same boat it'd be pretty old by now

https://elpais.com/diario/1987/11/23/espana/564620417_850215.html

the one mentioned in the article is a reproduction of one of Columbus's ships, Santa Maria, the correct term for those is carrack (nao in Spanish) rather than a galleon, which were much larger

>shipworms
Yo what the FUCK
>>
>>64386490
On the upside, the older a ship is the easier it is to refloat and get it back into service
>>
>>64387522
>When you finally fix the bilge pump and turn it in only to realize you have it wired in backwards
>>
>>64387268
Ha ha is cooming.
>>64387404
Considering that's a pressurized system failing a 16th century sailor would never see anything like that if the bilge was leaking. It'd just be a rising water level, the draft on those ships isn't really deep enough to get above 1 bar of external water pressure.

>"BRITISH could be here" he thought. "I've never been in this port before. There could be BRITISH anywhere." The stench of rum and limes caused his nostrils great discomfort. "I HATE BRITISH" he thought. The sound of Marcha Real reverberating his ear drums, reverberated his entire galleon. making it pulsate even as the ₱9 Tequila circulated through his powerful thick veins and washed away his (merited) fear of hellburners after dark. "With an Armada, you can go anywhere you want" he said to himself, out loud.

How is AoE2+? I remember having some fun with the first Age of Empires in like....2001, but don't remember the actual game.
>>
>>64388208
I didn't buy the remaster, so I'm stuck with HD Edition (which is about as good as I remember AoE2+Conq being, with the added benefit of the extra unique techs and civs). DE is still getting active development, though a lot of it is coming as paid DLC.
>>
>>64388253
They used to do interesting addons for the DE that filled blanks on the map and fleshed out existing civs but since last year they've switched to off topic content like Three Kingdoms or the Persian Wars that should be covered by AoE1.
>>
>>64388253
The Greek campaign in the new DLC is actually pretty good. Reasonably historically accurate. Very reminischent of AoE1 though.
