Singaporean here.
Grenade throwing session.
Every male citizen gets 1 chance in his life to throw a grenade, if he gets into the army that is.
I was too focused on the motions they thought me.
>take grenade out of pouch
>hold it tightly, making sure the metal thing is clasped in my right hand
>with left hand, twist the pin and pull
>shout "grenade ready to be thrown sergeant"
>sergeant taps my on the back
>throw in the lobbing motion they thought me
>forgot to put any force into it
>grenade lands right infront of us
>sergeant immediately pulls me down and grabs me real fucking tight
>grenade explodes
>"nabei throw so near" he said
Feels bad. Nabei is mother fucker in hokkien. I was a laughing stock for about 2 days.

2 years. I was made a signal man in our armoured infantry battalion. Days go like this
0530 Reveille
0540 Breakfast
0700 First Parade
0730 PT
0930 End of PT
1230 Lunch
1400 *insert whatever combat training they planned here*
1700 Last Parade
1900 PT again.
2230 Lights Out

Repeat every weekday 5 days a week for 2 years.
Only exceptions to this is if we have evaluation for our soldiering skills. For me it would be operating signal sets. Or going out for battalion exercise. Being a signaller, life is easy because I wasn't a platoon slave. Was attached to S4 in battalion mission exercises. Life was good. Being in armour means I dont bother carrying shit.

I've seen people posting their stats and they've jumped up a third or much more in views for having reaction face, boobs, "this will SHOCK you!" type stuff. It works way too well. You can upload the one video but with multiple thumbnails it cycles through to test them out.

Saw some guy just the other day responding to overt booba thumbnail allegations by just saying it put an extra zero on the end of his view stats, and that's the end of the argument.

>>
>>64387622
It's more just that this reads like your job is basically to go to the gym for half the day but you're barely given much time to sleep and recover when you could spend more time doing useful training. that and this schedule looks like it would just absolutely sterilise morale.
>>
>Range day after a long couple weeks where everything was going wrong
>The range warden is trying to rush everything due to time
>We're instructed to finish shooting and told to get up, make safe and run to our targets as fast as we can for evaluation
>There's a fucking raised concrete track to the targets in front of the dirt firing position that has likely emerged more and more from years of erosion on the soil
>Of course I trip on the ledge
>Keep rifle pointed downrange as men run passed me left and right
>"Oh fuck I'm doing to kill someone"
>Twist rifle into a cradle along my arm and plant my knee into the concrete to break the fall

We went slower after that and I politely ignored that I'd just fucked up my knee and elbow. There were a lot of incidents like these over the years that I saw from people trying to rush everything with bad consequences - the military life in general has too much running for little reason.

Considering what was in the unit history for NG's 1st NY (mostly 9-11/ GWoT), they ought to have a bunch of shit-show stories.
But they found and documented chemical weapons ready to fire in Iraq. It's in the book.
>>
>>64387785
what year was this? when we've been on ranges nobody can move past past the firing line until every single person has lined up, made safe, shown their working parts are clear to an instructor, and eased springs. even in a rush we'd never skip this (for obvious reasons, as you just showed it can people killed). If this was anytime in the last decade I'd be astounded. You did nothing wrong by the way, actually did better than most guys would have in that scenario imo
>>
>>64387742
In Canada, you still practice old school section attacks with live rounds. You don't really make safe during these since our make safe drill is much longer than just throwing the weapon on safe.
That being said, only brigade members and combat troops will do this. Its highly unlikely an aircraft technician would be given the opportunity to do it since they can't be trusted not to clap someone by accident

The scary shit is doing the plywood urban ops stuff with multinational groups. Communications get completely fucked up and you'll have unknowingly intersecting lines of fire due to how thin the ops centre cells are. I know a few guys that got a couple grazes from Americans and another who got clipped in the shoulder from another Canadian.
>>

are you telling me you guys do FIBUA/Urban Ops/CQB (whatever you wanna call it) drills with live fucking rounds in a way which is chaotic and uncontrolled enough that you've shot each other before? that's fucking crazy
>>
>>64387837
Yes. Never seen reg force guys do it and fuck up but I've absolutely seen Reservist do it. Especially the retards from Toronto regiments who think they're JTF.
Reg force guys are a lot slower and safer because they aren't on a time crunch.
Though the Americans that caught a couple dudes were Active Duty so who knows.
Usually there is concrete walls between the plywood structures but sometimes there's gaps where it's just pure plywood.
>>
>>64387851
yeah no that shouldn't be happening. your military is run by fucking mongoloids.

I'm not against live fire training btw, at all, it has its place, but what you're describing here would be what I would call criminal negligence. How the fuck has nobody spoken out about this?
>>
A personal favorite of mine.
>>
>>64387869
Because Commonwealth militaries are professional forces run by infantrymen and are incredibly good at running realistic live fire training that seems insanely dangerous and chaotic to participants, but it actually much safer and better controlled than it seems. Not completely safe, but nearly always as safe as practically possible while being realistic enough to train worthwhile infantry.
>>
>>64387869
There was a huge training investigation back in 2020 after a dude died and a lot of things changed on our end. Its basically been sorted on Canadian soil. I'm not sure if they still do if in the US since it's been a while but I wouldn't be surprised if it was still going on. We have a tendency to have retarded reservists go down there who are complete yes man to Americans. This is second hand but my reg force infantry buddies that were down in cali in 22 said it wasn't much different. The Americans would rush our guys through because of fucked up timelines. Our captains would argue then ultimately cave, putting their guys in a bad situation for no reason where you had Americans shooting into their firing lines unknowingly thinking they weren't there.

Our problems come from the Jr officer level unfortunately
>>
Most problems come from low level NCOs from single parent households. No idea why anyone expects them to suddenly become valuable human beings.
>>
>>
>>64387902
>are professional forces run by infantrymen and are incredibly good at running realistic live fire training that seems insanely dangerous and chaotic to participants, but it actually much safer and better controlled than it seems
yeah see that makes perfect sense to me and I'm all for that, we do the same kind of stuff here in the uk. the difference is that there is absolutely fuck all safe and professional about
>The scary shit is doing the plywood urban ops stuff with multinational groups. >>64387906
well I'm glad someone had common sense to change things but that stuff with the americans is still unhinged. this is all honestly news to me, I had no idea we were so unprofessional in major western militaries to this day.
>>
>>64387851
>>64387818
What the hell. Am I hearing this right: Canadians do live fire shoothouses with plywood instead of thick bulletproof concrete, and cope by having an outside ops center manage their lines of fire?
>>
>>64388055
No there is concrete in nearly all of it however there are gaps in the concrete. Pre 2020 there was small gaps between the blocks and since the dude died it's 100 percent reinforced concrete.
We usually went to the states for live fire urban ops though because they had big fake villages. Our lines of fire were managed internally but we had no control over outside lines of fire which lead to near misses and grazes.
Babydick officers unable to say are the reason why this shit happened though.
It shouldn't be hard for a Canadian captain to tell an American E7 to fuck your timetables, we aren't doing that until your guys are done.
I think we got 4 brand new training ones on 22 but pre training establishments in 2010 to 2020 were abysmal to say the least.

>Targets front and section is pinging away
>Dude grabs me and points to targets across from us and tells me to engage
>"But x-lad is in the crossfire"
>Get told to do it and I start shooting

I mean look I'm not naive, I'm well aware any organisation comes with abuses/mistakes, doubly so when you're dealing with militaries. And the story from Basra, as fucked as it is, can at least be somewhat understood as a byproduct of the chaos of wartime. But the idea that something as reckless as the other stories involving life fire could happen without someone being immediately arrested and investigated is crazy to me. Like if I was that SAS guy's IC I'd immediately court martial him.

I once had an SAS member cut in front of me in the line at dinner with his buddies, I picked a fight because I was hungry and knew I was right. Needless to say I quickly got my arse handed to me but then everyone thought I was a hardman anyway for fighting with special forces guys and the SAS made a point of making friends with me and probably thought I wanted to join.

Fighting alongside FFL in Afghanistan was nuts too. They're all muscle so we had one guy standing up and dual-wielding minimis in a firefight but it actually worked through the magic of fortified wine and unnecessary pullups.

my buddy was on the mack defence vs oshkosh research program when they were testing out the new msvs for canada.
he got told "give it everything you got and see how stuck you can get it"
he ripped the front axle off an oshkosh getting it out of a similar situation (it was intentional)
oshkosh rep wasn't happy and tried to chew him out

I tried to stress test the new drivers to learn what the vehicles are capable of so I'd make them punch it up some hill and go airborne with the water pass in the red. This case was sheer stupidity and it couldn't self recover because it was too muddy.

Bonus pic of a stryker that went of the road and retards who don't know how to use a tow rope in Yakima
>>
>>64388990
In the mp4 version you can hear the 'thud' as the vehicle hits his body and another 'thud' as the body hit the guardrail it was thrown into.
>>
>>64390539
With sound: https://files.catbox.moe/o2des1.mp4

Well, for one he crimps a fuse into a blasting cap with his teeth. Then uses a twig to partially lift a notoriously sensitive UXO causing it to detonate. He was trying to blow a PTM-3 which apparently is a nightmare to deal with since it can be magnetically influenced. He also set the fuse way too short.

>PTM-3
>It is prohibited to destroy the PTM-3 mines before the self-liquidation period has elapsed, as the placement of the explosive charge could trigger the mine. If the mine must absolutely be removed before the self-liquidation period has elapsed, it can be destroyed by machine gun fire, preferably mounted on an armored vehicle

I have a video of him being loaded into a vehicle afterwards. He lost his eyesight, both hands, and his left leg from the knee down. Poor bastard.
>>
>>64390928
When I trained guys on 10 ton I would take them down to the city to find out what the vehicles could do. Putting some farm kid from Saskatchewan who hasn't seen a road with more then 2 lanes in downtown Ottawa makes them learn real quick.
The trick is do it like 6am so by the time morning traffic rolls around, they're more confident and won't hit anything or impede anyone.

He's blowing it up so there was no reason to touch it. His demo charge can be a whole inch away. Hell most of the time they stand back and use a nade or something, sometimes just shooting it works (but not well).
Anything but fucking playing with it.

NTA but from my experience it's easy to get someone with zero driving experience on dirt roads. I've had soldiers who never drove a vehicle except a bumper car at six flags before and they could handle dirt roads because they're empty. Getting someone who is used to just driving on empty, straight country roads to go through urban traffic with lane changes, merges, stop signs etc is harder because it's a stressful environment where they need to pay attention. A lot of them blow stop signs etc.

It's like teaching marksmanship to a dude who thinks he's a good shooter but picked up too many bad habits when he was young he has to unlearn.

I was looking more into this mine and came across this possible mock-up of a Lancet with the mine inside. Placement seems to be sub-optimal, but I don't know enough about mines to really say. Source is some BR HueHue newspaper.

I finished a pistol training two parter class at the sheriff's office and the final night was walking way up to the backstop. I absolutely refused because it sounded like wypipo shit to walk up while there are still armed people, TRANED or not, back at the firing line so I only went in partially ready to sprint back.

Near the Uintah Meridian in NE UT. Most of the towns were great but Gusher specifically (also where the store was) gave me the stink eye from the angry looking natives, looking directly at my waistline to try to see if I'm CCing. I hid my pocket carry with a phone because I've heard tribal lands can confiscate your guns with no recourse.

>>
>>64388542
right that's exactly what I mean. This kind of lifestyle is fine for the few weeks of your training/integration to break you down and rebuild you to the standard required, but as a professional soldier it's a complete fucking waste of time. It's like a child's idea of what a soldier does all day. "And then, and then, they wake up super super early, and then they do pressups and pullups, and then they do lessons in the afternoon, and then they do more pullups and chinups and then they sleep"

The first time you throw a grenade is fucking terrifying if you have an IQ above room temperature.
>take grenade out of pouch
>hold it tightly, making sure the metal thing is clasped in my right hand
>with left hand, twist the pin and pull
>shout "grenade ready to be thrown sergeant"
>sergeant taps my on the back
>Death grip on grenade and spoon, arm extended backwards, ready to throw
>"Throw"!
>Nope. This is a live damn grenade with a fuse made by the lowest bidder.
>"Throw goddamnit!!"
>Throw grenade

Wind River is so good. Perfectly captures the ennui of WY. For fun once I slept in my car right across the street from a supposed Sacajawea cemetery up in the wind River meridian somewhere around Riverton. So much beauty, and actually the natives didn't bother me at all. They looked more Siberian than Comanche.

>>64392208
Same. I don't know shit either, but some tv show in the old days showed me the Navajo hwy patrol really like legally stealing guns. They have odd, outside-federal jurisdiction, to which I'm going to ascribe blame for the sub-welfare levels of poverty and disappearances.

Lot of broken homes, beautiful people, lot of veterans. Hope they stay alive and maybe even confederate some more. Lots of them have literal lots in OK (picrel) and the Western half of America, mostly untamed public lands. I've been driving through the scenic byways to collect myself a bit

Women are the dumbest fucking cunts.
