I suggested the draco b/c it has a pretty solid track record, it's ~100$ cheaper iirc, and the 10"-12" 7.62 AKs work pretty well with a red dot and an ultimak
That said, the wbp is fine, especially if you want to go sidemount
>>
>>64407396
I don't like the way zastavas look. I really want to stay as close to an akm as possible Besides maybe mounting a red dot. I am a little worried about the wbps track record but it seems like the Draco aren't without their issues either.
>>64407436
Would mounting optics be much more complicated with the Draco? I really don't like tinkering with guns in the first place, and aks look complicated in that regard. I've heard the dustcover mounts are shit.

this 556 Beryl AK wont accept these 10 round AC Unity mags.
Comparing it to the mag that fit, the locking latch is not in the same place.
Its metal that is molded into the plastic mag.

What can be done to make it fit? There is little overlap, grinding it down probably wont work.

A pair of pliers like that to hold tension on the spring while installing the pin and a swage tool to flare the new pin.
>Alternatively M&M Industries make a catch that's held in with an Eclip, and only requires a drill and punch (to remove the old retaining pin)
I wouldn't trust my AK with one, but it is an option.

My buddy and I tried to get one working, and it had several issues. First of all the wire rod trip "bar" is susceptible to bending, since it is a wire rod as opposed to a real bar. Once it bends out of spec, the system malfunctions consistently. Also the reset was genuinely painful and problematic when it did work. Compared to the other kits that are out there, I find the MARS to be terrible. The newer mars looks a little better.

>>
>>64434546
No. And you don't really need one for non corrosive. You got so much tolerance and so much space in these fucking rifles it would take a biblical amount of dirt (induced by shooting, not by dragging it inside a swamp and sticking chicken in it like a retard) to actually make it choke.

If you really feel like it, taking a look and a dirty oily rag would do the trick a couple of thousand rounds in.

For the Meridian guns? 7.62x39 bolt and trunnion geometry is way more established. I DM'd meridian and they said their 5.56 guns are using true 100 spec dimensional specs on the bolts and trunnions. IIRC Apex had some Bulgarian trainers with red paint that were pretty decent like one or one and a half years ago. Decent fuse, spoon, etc. in unfinished (sandblasted?) silver looking a lot like the one marked 2/69 in anon's pic. Maybe like $20. Dummy grenades are one of those things that are a bitch because they're not always in stock, you never know what is going to be in stock and from what country, and like 8/10 times if it's something you actually want it's going to be like $45-60+ for no good reason and secondhand is no better. Literally just stalk surplus sites and search "grenade" week after week if not day after day as new stock is posted. Or look at the "new items" section daily.
>>

Mine was shutting itself off during firing due to recoil physically imparting an inertial force on the brass power switch plunger, causing it to shift, and over the course of a few shots it would shut off.
Also I don't think mine was holding zero, but not sure.
Mine definitely wasn't working under NVG because in low light the photoresistor resistance was too high and just shut the LED off entirely.

Shame because I liked it honestly. Returned it to the chinkoid vendors.

It's not really an ID guide, just showing examples of the original slabside vs the finalized version.
So unless you have a plethora of slab sides I don't think any other mags have the original profile, as iirc the feed lip profile wasn't optimal and there were some issues thus the final version.

>start from short or long?
I'd say long and cut down but unless it can somehow be done with the barrel still in the receiver you're not cutting the barrel down or replacing it with a longer one without removing the rivets to pull the trunnion out. Unless someone has a way to put the barrel though the back of their lathe (IIRC an option on some) where the receiver can stay out of the way of the jaws, etc., that is. Hopefully someone who has actually done this can chime in as I've never fucked with barrels on AKs before. IMO better to start long and be happy with the noise but a little disappointed by the length and later go shorter than go so short you're extremely disappointed with the volume; at least then you have a gun that's quiet enough for you. The downside is, assuming you start with a 16" barrel, with a silencer it's going to handle like a ~21" barrel at the very shortest. Folding stocks help but sometimes all that gets you is a maybe couple inches shorter than the same rifle if it had a fixed stock and no silencer; if this is bad or not depends on what you're using it for.
>Zastava
Don't those have a funky bulged trunnion? And while I don't have a lot of silencers like some on this board, I've had the chance to shoot my own as well as listen to some others at the range on various guns. I don't think 7.62x39 is going to be hard to silence but I'm not sure how short you'd want to go. What's your goal? Hearing safe? Reduced volume? Subs or super? I hate to say it but this is also one of those things that you seem to really need to hear for yourself. I've heard all sorts of claims of "this doesn't hurt the ears" or even "it's hearing safe" but even sitting right behind a guy who let me hear his rifle; he goes "Doesn't even ring the ears" (6.5 creed bolt action, silenced), meanwhile my ears rang a good minute or two after lol. Granted my ears are probably way less damaged than his as I'm very careful with my hearing.

Don't purchase anything already modernized. Get is a standard as possible.

>>
>>64454564
>>64454574
>>64454597
If your goal is to get a suppressed AK fast and clean in 2025 do the following :

1. Triple check it's concentric, ideally test it with a direct thread suppressor and stick a rod in this bitch BEFORE PURCHASING IT. All i can say is that my WBP was dead straight but that's my experience and then again apparently they break left and right in America (which i'm convinced is a fucking blown off proportions sample of one that happened to one or two dudes out of shitty ass parts kit but whatever, don't want to summon the tripfag).

2. Replace piston with a KNS. I never EVER saw an undergased AK to begin with so adding a suppressor into the equation means a way to tame the gas a little bit.

Done.

>The downside is, assuming you start with a 16" barrel, with a silencer it's going to handle like a ~21" barrel at the very shortest.
That was my initial worry that made me ask. Don't want a completely fucked weight distribution, even on an AK with a thicker receiver.

>Don't those have a funky bulged trunnion?
Yeah, now that you mention it I can see where that can be an issue if I have to remove the barrel

>What's your goal?
Doesn't have to be completely hearing safe, I'll still probably use earpro when I'm at the range. Just don't want to go completely deaf if there's ever a time I have to shoot it without earpro.

>Triple check it's concentric
Everything I read says Zastavas are (and are also 14x1 LH), although I will still check in person regardless of what AK I end up getting

>Replace piston with a KNS
Overgassing does seem to be a problem with Zastavas

You will not be removing the barrel, it's a AK.
It's the same amount of difficulty for a bulged or non bulged.
>Overgassing
My m70UF is undergassed. New Zastavas seem to be very well gassed. And the m90 5.56 has a changeable gas system.

I don't know if that'd really be an issue. Then again a 22 silencer is a lot smaller and lighter than any other rifle caliber ones.
>Doesn't have to be completely hearing safe, I'll still probably use earpro when I'm at the range.
That's completely different, then. If you mainly use it at the range it's a lot different than dragging it through the woods and brush. 16" will be fine; I have a ~6" silencer on an 18" barrel and it's okay, just ends up being SKS length despite being a 22. Fine for the range, even fine for hunting trails and fields. Just once you get into that damn brush you have to watch the muzzle or it catches on branches and shit.
>concentricity
BTW HUXWRX seems to make a decent concentricity rod. I have their 556 one for 22LR silencers. Has worked well so far; checked a couple barrels with it, no issues.
>overgassing/KNS
My WASR is overgassed to fuck FWIW. I need a KNS bad and it isn't even silenced. IIRC shooting TulAmmo.

So was mine, instead of paying $150 for a KNS I fixed it with a $10 KNS stronger recoil spring

there is no reason for zastava to make every single part of the AK heavier.

They made it so we could become big and strong

If you definitely want to suppress, I would strongly consider doing a kit build. Where are you located?

Eh
These are hardly what I would call good tests of zero retention. In order to test zero retention of an optic you need several things controlled for. The platform itself being used to test really ideally needs to be able to shoot groups that are smaller than the minimum adjustment size. I don't know what that is for these Chinese OKP-7 clones but lets be generous and say they have 1 MOA adjustments, then we need to use a platform that can hold 1 MOA groups. Also the POA precision needs to be comparable to this same group size, which IMO means a magnifier, ideally more magnification. Ammo used also needs to be consumate with the group requirement, as does the shooter and rest.

I tried doing my own zero retention test and the results I got were inconclusive bordering on indicating that the optic did not hold zero.

Fug, how many times I must've thought about buying a KNS not even thinking that KNS might also make springs. Thanks anon. How much did that tame it?

Nobody cares about the GWOT anymore besides vetbros who peaked as zogbots.
