In this case it sounds like the pilot more facilitated the shot, allowing the WSO to lock and fire.Basically the entire job of the WSO is to allow the pilot to just focus on flying, anyway. Sometimes that means being an extra set of eyes and cueing up the appropriate weapons, others that means handling the entire lock and release process themselves.I don't think I've ever seen one referred to as an ace before, but it seems silly to only give the title to the pilot when talking about a two-person aircraft with split responsibilities.
