People act like the most American gun is the 1911 or the AR, but for me it'll always be the humble SAA.

I got it as a Christmas gift many years ago. I've sold all my other guns, and I only keep this one for sentimental reasons.
Anyone have any experience shooting .22 ratshot rounds? They seem fun.
>>
>>64396937
only shot .45 ratshot but it's not 'fun' it's just a bunch of lil pebbles flying all over the place. meant for blasting rats within 8 feet and maybe sorta mostly killing them kinda. I presume 22lr rat shot is even worse but all I can say is that it's just for shooting rats indoors, if you want to have 'fun' with your gun just shoot normal bullets. You might be surprised!
>>
>>64396951
I've shot normal bullets and I've shot shotguns, but I've never shot ratshot or snakeshot, which is why I was asking.
>>
>>64396965
that's my experience; they aren't really 'fun'

I don't see how that's any different to people that buy a glock as their first and act like 9mm is God's gift to this earth and every other round is pointless. That or the ARfags that act like 5.56 can kill anything that moves and just shits on any other rifle round. Everyone is guilty of thinking their first gun is the bestest, hell I was an ardent 7x57 mauser shill way back when

Such an odd projection to make about me, Todd. Do you assume everyone is obsessed with material possessions the same way you are? How about you post a gun, Todd?
>>
Why did most of Europe skip the single action revolver?
>>
>>64397692

>>64397684
Are you upset about the 502 because you're broke? Would you like to see the ruger 57? That's a bit more broke, but the cartridge cost is ridiculous. Still, favorite pistol to shoot. I did put together the ST50 recently, and it is the most wonky thing.

i have experience with normal ones. the notch sights are shit its all Kentucky windage. the zamak frames do have a limited lifespan. if you actually shoot it it will wear out in 10k-20k. which isnt ideal but not a low amount. if you had 10k worth of ammo thats enough to replace the gun 10 or 15 times.
its not going to instantly explode but it is going to get sketchier and looser to the point you retire it.
it will outlast an average shooter who will never even come close to 2k. fail for an actual shooter and isnt worth passing down to a kid. its disposable.
for 200$ and fucking around just buy it you get get 200 worth of fun out of it.

>underwhelming what it does to the target
Unless the target is an actual rattler's head from 4 feet. You could shoot a soda can (full) if you don't have a rattler on hand. Paper would be underwhelming, I agree.

Most of the time I never see snakes lunging at people, I figure a 22lr or magnum hp will fuck up a snake just as well and at longer range

Here you go, $99 + $25 rebate = New Rough Rider for dual wielding.

At longer range, they are not a problem. My rattlers strike 1/2 thier length in vertical height and 2/3s thier length in distance. Ymmv.

They're illegal to buy or transfer through an FFL in Illinois.
>>
>>64406384
Well why is that? It's just a copy of American heritage, more so than the M1911. Are 1911s also illegal?

Anyone out there (aside from ruger) making a decent blued SAA clone in .45 Colt without case hardening?
>>
>>64406610
Handgun roster probably. Shitty states require manufacturers to submit their guns for various safety tests before allowing them to be sold in state.

The 1911 served much longer in U.S. military service, far more medals of honor were awarded to men carrying 1911s than were to SAAs.

Likely a melting point law thing.
The heritage makes extensive use of zamak

did any of the SAA repro brands ever make a bisley with a barrel length over 7.5? I have unhinged dreams about one with a 10" and a peep sight for silly long range plinking

I mean if you count ruger sure. They make super blackhawks with bisley grips at 10 1/2 inch length.

Pietta makes one. I think one in particular is called the midnight special. I used to have an all blued 10 shot 22lr pietta. I sold it because it was a pain to line up the ejector rod with the tiny chambers. The clicks of the cylinder were just past where they needed to be. That aside new piettas are nicer than they used to be.

Love me some stag grips
Three of my rugers wear them.
Nice bearcat btw. I occasionally carry mine when im canoeing just for fun. Its so light that it can be thrown in my bag or on my hip without a second thought.

Thanks pard
I got really lucky because i didnt pay a thing for any of them. My vaquero and single six were already wearing them when i purchased the guns. As for my super blackhawk, they were being sold as unknown make synthetic stag but i knew better. Bought them for 30 dollars from a gun store junk box that didnt know what they had.

this but unironically, every normalfag knows what it looks like, but they could never tell the difference between a 1911 and a glock
>>
>>64409489
Normalfags are more likely to know the difference between a Glock and 1911 than to know the difference between a SAA and Model 27.

Again, sweet. I like some bark. I have a custom order pending from Sack... as soon as I place it. I just wish he would do Cape Buff horn for mine. I will sak, but he's pretty musk elk shed, whis is fine. But, I'll still ask. I thinknthe black in high polish would look outstanding.

Im interested in getting some ram horn grips for my single six 32h&r birdshead at some point. Not even sure who makes them at a price less than the damn gun.
Nc ordanance has some synthetic ones that look good in the pictures, but i am worried that they would be junk
Never had much luck with synthetics aside from micarta ivory.

Yeah but they cant own handguns tho. Plus, skin is too white for a canigger.

I forget what 5 figure amount they want for it. Should it get it?

>the SAA looks like shit, its like a generic revolver from a comic book
so it’s ubiquitous. Doesn’t get more iconic than unconscious depiction

I had a bad experience and do not recommend fucking around and finding out for yourself. They look good on the website.

God damn thats some false advertisement. Ive heard a few people complain about quality from altamont. I typically dont bother checking them because ive seen warped and poor fitting grips. Now this.
Maybe i should just go into business myself. Someone give me some stag and sheep horn.
>>
>>64396713
you really did all of that just to show us a picture of your offbrand SAA?
