Why is Singapore building destroyers?
8000 tons.
Has a flight deck for F-35 or helicopters.

What the the point? Why not buy L2A8 or more F-35?

Singapore is a nation that relies entirely on trade. Outside of the existing threat of Malaysia which they solve by having a doctrine that involves rolling Leopards up to Kuala Lumpur in 12 hours, they have to keep their own sealanes open. Having a big navy lets them have a say in whether or not they want to participate in a blockade from Uncle Sam or the chinks and forces any strike group to give them a wide berth so that they won't be targeted as collateral.

They have a decently sized tank force, about 200 leopard 2s in all. It's really their only viable strategy outside of nukes

It is a corvette. It is designated as a corvette and is replacing an earlier class of corvette. Sweden may also adopt the same design to replace the Visbys, which are corvettes. It is a corvette in all respects

How will they roll this. There is only ONE (1) causeway across the Johor Strait. Malaysia is also highly mountainous, similar to Italy. Unlike Italy, there's also a huge impenetrable jungle. The Japs managed to invade from the northeast due to the Brits never investing in any real defensive fortifications. Modern day Malaysia has military bases all along the passable valleys. There are also thousands of rivers and creeks with only small bridges. The big bridges tend to have military bases nearby for some reason. But this is all academic. Malaysia and Singapore have had good relations since Independence. Singapore provides our politicians a safe place to park their ill gotten cash. In return, we provide them with ultra cheap clean water. Both countries are also British Commonwealth and ASEAN members.

Singapore armor doctrine is actually heavily influenced by 4ID's Thunder Run on Baghdad in 2003, based on the literature at their staff college.

What these gook retards fail to comprehend is that you can't pull it off with the troops they actually have (most of their tank crews will be reservists of, at best, the same quality as the IDF retards who lost 30 Merkavas to Hezbollah in 2006), and it is doubtful today whether even the US could do it again against any opponent that isn't as demoralized or incompetent as the Iraqis of 2003 were, given current day ATGM and drone threats.

Its more likely that anyone trying a Thunder Run in this day and age is going to end up like the zigger columns of the Great Blyatzkrieg on Kyiv 2022

Despite what /k/ thinks or believe, Western is not always superior to Slavshit equivalents. Malaysian PT-91M Pendekar, Viet T-90S, and Thai Oplot/VT-4 are superior to monkey model Abrams without DU armor (same as what Arab cunts like the Saudis, Egypt and Iraq use which have been lost in great numbers) Leopard 2A4 with body kit.

As it is right now PT-91M Pendekar is probably one of the most capable T-72 derivative tank out there. Even when compared to the much newer T-90M, Pendekar has better reverse speed and better gun (with MRS. only newer version of T-90M has MRS). With upcoming SLEP that includes new FCS and possibly CITV we could have said something that can hold its candle against other much newer tanks

One of best contributions of Malaysia's military efforts is to combine the best of the Soviets and the West. The Malaysian version of PT-91 are more different than Polish one and have included some pretty extensive upgrade possibly makes it among the most capable T-72 variant available. Instead on using a standard one, they following the Malaysian design by mix and match various East and West equipment like M2HB HMG, Germany tank tracks, Malaysian spectral camouflage system and Polish ERAWA ERA.

>French SAGEM gyroscoptic SAVAN-15 Fire Control System, similar to that used on the Leclerc
>EADS 3-axis gun stabilizer coupled with the ability to shoot GL-ATGM
>Belgian FN Mag + M2 HMG
>SS1C "Obra" laser warning receiver
>PM Dezamet 84mm Grenade Launcher
>Slovakian 2A46MS gun, 20% better accuracy than basic 2A46
>Malaysian thermal camouflage optronic system

and last but not least,Malaysia army has integrated network-centric operation via MEASAT 3B communication satellite that have 4x X-band transponder for military usage, so PT-91M have higher situational awareness than M1A1.

For about half the price of an Abrams those modernized PT-91M is good to at least stand toe to toe with M1A2 SEPv3/Leopard 2A7

Yeah and Russia had thousands and they all got destroyed. Looking at Wikipedia it seems Singapore has thousands of armoured vehicles but of course, in a real war, they get destroyed in 3 days and we get a 5 year war. With of course very lopsided kill ratios with thousands of dead Malays per chang.

According to the Panama papers they've also stolen almost 1.5 trillion out of Australia through hosting a safe port for white collar criminals.

One of these days Australia will need to invade them and liquidate all their assets to get it back. Sounds weird now, but by 2040 people will be thinking it. Watch.

For poor informed Singaporean - TDM bought new PT-91M. not like Singapore buy 2nd hand leapord tank from germany. PT-91M has APS which Leopard 2A4 lack. PT-91M is capable of use various Russian, Chinese and Ukrainian guided missiles. Leopard can use only LAHAT.

if both tank were to skirmish in Malaysia, we do have advantages on maneuverability and speed, leapord is heavier then pendekar

The Leopard 2 is 65 tonnes when in operation. And that's why you never see them out for parades in Singapore, they're too heavy for the roads. And they're basically unusable in our terrain. Hence Singapore can only use their divisions of Leopard 2's in Australia where they train.

>>
>>64400040
When PT-91M (as development of T-72) has many flaws, it is superior in many areas over standard Leopard 2 A4.

PT-91M has far more advanced FCS similar to Leclerc FCS and in hypothetical duel of PT-91M and Leopard 2A4 most probably Leopard 2A4 will be sooner detected by PT-91M with first shot-hit-kill by PT-91M. Leopard 2 A4 has only one primitive thermal vision unit (even base PT-91 has better), PT-91M has two thermal vision units (one for commander for hunter-killer), Leopard 2 A4 has primitive analog ballistic computer and so on.

The prowess of the PT-91M is not only in its main gun (Malaysian Version has more advance with 2A46MS from Slovakia) but also supported by the SIGMA 30 navigation system and the ERAWA-2 reactive armor block on the front, roof and front side. It aims to reduce the impact of the anti-armor + missile system

Additionally very few knows that ERAWA-2 ERA is one of the best ERA, if not the best ERA in the world. In tests few years ago in Poland, German AT launcher Panzerfaust-3 was absolutely noneffective with ERAWA-2, effectivness of 120 mm KE rounds is only 65-70% behind ERAWA-2. Polish APFSDS rounds for PT-91M have classified penetration but according to various sources it is 600-640 mm RHA behind ERA from 2.000m, so it should be enough for knockout of Leopard 2A4.

NTA but they can carry a couple of bombs a few miles flying completely VTOVL. It's not hard, even for Harriers to do. And F35Bs have superior performance to Harriers.

But in reality and in 99.9% of situations it is true that an AH64 would be more useful than that.

I blame Mahathir.
>be indian pretending to be Malay.
>need to proof he is Malayer so he talk shit about Jews and Singapore every fucking day.
>rest of Malaysian think Singapore is just that rich guy across the strait and think nothing about them because average Malaysian know it just politic and shitposting.
>there was also a territorial dispute some time later but that was solved by giving Singapore the island and surrounding sea to Malaysian.
>however Mahathir shitposting actually spook Singapore alot and they start ramping up their military.
>that caused Malaysian army to be spooked too because they have no idea why Singapore started caring about military of all sudden. But they don't actually try to do anything because they are poor.
>sometimes Singapore jets ended up in Malaysian airspace alot and Malaysia start complaining to Singapore government.
>there is also arguments about water trade where Malaysian want to charge more on untreated water. And then it revealed that Malaysia also paid some fee to Singapore to treat their water. In the end the fee didnt change and the business continued as usual.

It just 2 retard fighting. Although Singapore was in the right and Malaysian government are retard for not cooling down the situation. Maybe because Malaysia know Singapore still depends on Malaysia in some important aspect. I wish they actually sit down and talk and improved the relationship. Because we have even bigger problems that is CCP. Also fuck that malayschizo. He is just another pro-palestinian retard.

once again Singapore show they studpidity by provoking Malaysia, the keep talking abauot our nation 50yrs ago, and they try to ignore our nation capability right now.. latest our force got new PT-91M that are more powerful than sing tank, it have 125mm turret than can blow leopard or hunter just in one blast, we also got SU-30MKM that capable to operate R-77 BVR missile that can be lunch beyond visual range, that mean it can be fire sing fighter just after they take off, malaysia got LCS that come from various version to increase our navy capability, our PUTD got new Agusta to increase the speed and shock capability, we also got Astros II and G5 155mm howitzer that a long range artilery which can fire to sing just in melaka.

what im trying to say is not provocation, but i think sing just make a joke.. why they build such advance army?..it becouse they know they cant win a war with us, they think our soldier just like statue which cant even fight back. when they try to invade johore, we must already know, because we must have our spy to keep in eye to them. When they move out, out airbone will be send to cut off they supply, and army from central and north will come to face them, and gosh, they got stuck, they're now fully depending on their SAF, now the real fight begin...F-35A/B, F-15E and other come to fight with equal fighter F-18D,Su-30MKM.. they cant stand too long, when SAF dying to invade our airspace, our bombers and our F-18D bombing sing city into rubble...ha ha its fair right because they also rubble johore bahru, in the end they lost.. they're force to come back to their motherland with they're "high tech" soldier covered with mud, duri kelapa sawit and bloody leg because of pacat.. they have to rebuild their civilization over 20 years from the rubble...what they got??..nothing.they lost their nation into rubble..and they suffering with no water..

In a war between Malaysia and Singapore, ATM will use a Combined Arms strategy which uses navy, airforce and army to win the war. This is how it would goes: air sirens goes off in all our air bases and the TUDM goes on the offensive. All jets at Butterworth, Kuantan,Gong Kedak and Subang are scrambled, whilst the jets in East Malaysia are placed on alert. Malaysian air defence radars will pick up fast moving aircraft intruding into Malaysian airspace and despatch fighters to shoot down ruthlessly. The combined SU30MKM and F/A 18 overwhelms the RSAF outdated US-made F16 defence fighters while F15SG are destroy on ground by ASTROS rocket and artillery fires. The few survivor that take off are suddenly ambushed by an unexpected threat, hidden low flying MIG29K that are secretly reactivated as a trump card arrive from an unexpected angle from hidden airbases in the jungles. Astros missile artillery launches destroys all of SG airfields in an instant, killing all the planes on the ground. TUDM SU30MKM and F/A 18 fighters launch bombs that level all of Singapore's main infrastructure, MBS and Changi Airport Jewel is now burning.

Malaysian naval ships and submarines scatter to sink and destroy Singapore’s navy and merchant navy, concentrating near the straits, as there is air superiority from destruction of RSAF. The 8 frigates Maharaja Lala class and Lekiu are overmatching the Formidables are the RSN frigates sunk in a salvo of brutal NSM+MM40 outranging their outdated and inferior harpoons. The Scorpenes easily detect and sink the obsolete Swedish made Archer class and Challenger class using Blackshark torpedoes. Being older and so becoming noisier, even AIP able Archers has no chance as the submarine dogfight has KD Tunku Abdul Rahman and KD Tun Razak the victorious hunters. The RSN stops existing as a fighting force
>>

Why are you equating canned projects to the capacity of US shipbuilding? Everyone realized Zumwalt gun was a meme a decade ago so now they're refitting them with hypersonics, Independences are working for ASW. But yeah, fuck the freedoms and their tandem procurement.
You should've bought up the maintenance backlog of SSNs or the CVN delays if you wanted to sound like you actually knew what you were talking about.

At the same time strategic infantry and armoured divisions is ordered to move to Johore, which it has rehearsed countless and many times and playing the simulated wargame against a Singapore army. GGK and 10th Para are practiced for this day, they are mass parachuted to take the southern crossings and hold for the armoured thrust to strike deep into enemy center of gravity. PT91M tanks engage with the modern Fire Control System(FCS). Its using modernized sight for day channel and optionally passive PCN-A sightwhich has thermal imagine sight, which create night fighting capability to improve first hit probability. SAF leopard 2s are all destroyed as 125mm cannon is more powerful than their 120mm cannon, the heavier APFSDS rounds cut through armour at superior ranges. Singapore capitulates in a day as PT91M regiments roll into the downtown areas of the city

For infantry fighting, Malaysian troops are the only forces in the world to have defeated a communist insurgency. They are knowm to be the best jungle fighters in the world. Elite forces all over the world are trained by them and the even average soldier are classed as tier 1 operators. Bulk of Singapore’s forces comprise of conscripts, it is a major factor that will contribute in the performance of it’s frontline troops. While core leading elements of their forces are made up of their regulars, that means there is no continuation in training for the troops. Their infantry divisions are wiped out by better trained and morale Malaysian elite tier troops. Airdropped paratroopers GGK and PASKAL infiltrators conquers the Istana and raises the flag over the island.

Lol. No one cares. No one wants to invade Singapore. They have nothing of physical value. No land, no resources. Even the Japs only did it to neutralise the British naval base there. The problem is they’re friends with the US, UK, and somehow still as friendly with the chinks as we are. I guess we up the propaganda campaign and spam Tik-Tok with stories about the dangers of artificial islands and forced land reclamation while tying it all to the city state before invading it ourselves. This should hopefully make the populations of the Anglos at most indifferent if not hostile to the Sing cause. Although we share a land border, it is very small so I’d invest amphibious equipment and double down on both the 10th Parachute Brigade and the Marines. It’s a city state, so it shouldn’t be hard to invade even if the war as a whole will be defined by extensive, brutal urban warfare. It’ll be hard fighting F-35, 16, and 15s, however. Still, I think we can bomb their very few airfields and render those inoperable before they can truly leave the tech advantage.

>>64400300
We can effectively neutralize their entire airforce with a single artillery barrage and then go in. Israel only beat the Arabs because of the air force. We neutralize their air force and it will be a repeat of the fall of singapore. Singapore men are pussies who cant even carry their own equipment, needing indonesian women to do it. We can wipe them out in 2 to 3 hours.

They build up west Germany, South Korea and Japan to be their cannon fodder, they don't have much use for most the likes of Malaysia when Vietnam exists.
Eventhough the US bribing Malaysia not to join BRICS with sale of F-35, it wont be easy for them if the US Congress keep trying to meddle in and trying to approve it only with terms. Although both countries are friends, Malaysia is not that close with US, unlike Singapore, which the US gave much favour too. Having Gucci gear intimidates all of their neighbors because even retards can bomb you willynilly before they fuck up

They don't have any oil. They are also 100x more competent than Arabs. Their IQ is on par with Japan and about 20 points higher than the region. I think with their many Nordic and French submarines as well as American airpower and Israeli air defences, they are more than able to bomb any enemy into submission while their domestic and German armor sweeps up attrited remnants.
>>
>>64403111
Japan is also like Saudi Arabia with a lot of Gucci gear and not much practical experience, and the added problem of their enlisted being 40 and older
>>
>>64403367
>not much practical experience
They've fired zero (0) shots in anger since WW2 if I'm not mistaken
But the JASDF is very active in intercepting chink flights, making it one of the most active air forces in the world; and I'm sure the JMSDF is doing a lot of unspoken ASW work too for similar reasons
So they might not do too badly if it really comes to a proper war

Because the US was dumping two million fresh troops into a war where all the other combatants had been exhausted by four years of fighting.

German accounts noted the extremely high morale and often suicidal bravery of American troops even as they died in droves from the extremely rushed and poor training they had received in the US and the use retarded tactics like walking fire which other belligerents had abandoned long ago, while arriving American observers of the British and French found them to be mentally and physically zombies from lack of sleep

Japan has a history of warrior culture, they're not the same like Singapore at all

The Saudis are as much larping Bedouins as the average peasant-descended Jap are as samurai, and the modern Saudi state itself came together through a series of wars of tribal conquest and unification over 30 years. Having a warrior culture doesn't have any relation with modern technological warfare
>>

There has been a massive cultural and institutional break between Imperial and Postwar Japan in which their society has gone from a highly-militarized and propagandized population to a largely pacifist one of antiwar boomers and apathetic disillusioned neets. They absolutely would perform as badly as the Saudis if their IQs were similar. The only reason the Japanese are massively more competent is that their guys are actually motivated to do their jobs and have the education and intelligence to operate complex systems

Correction: the very, very tiny (in relation to the population) regular US military had some experience in those banana wars before WW1.

The Selective Service Act pulled in millions of civilians with zero such experience, who then in most cases received only a few months of outdated and inadequate stateside training by this small prewar cadre supplemented by the slightly larger National Guard who had at least some years of prewar service, before being sent to France. If anything I'd expect Singapore to handle the initial shock of combat better than modern Japan, since like Finland, South Korea or Israel, their entire male population goes through 2 years of active military service and most of their manpower will be mobilized reservists, so their society has at least been somewhat conditioned to know what to expect, while the JSDF is tiny (300,000) for a country of Japan's size and most civilians will never have experienced or even contemplated any length of time in uniform.

Not that its going to lessen a lot of the problems completely untested forces are going to face, but this applies to everyone in the region including China, Taiwan, Japan, or even countries that do get regular exposure to ops in peacetime like Australia or South Korea. The only militaries with any kind of useful institutional experience right now are the US and Ukraine/Ziggers/Norks; Israel, Turkey, ironically the Saudis and Emiratis from Libya and Yemen; in Southeast Asia the Thais and Flips; and the Bongs/France, Australia/Canada and the smaller Euro NATO militaries with time from the GWOT, though how much of that will be relevant to actual high-intensity peer war is a matter of debate even in those countries

The thing I don't get with this kind of 3rd worlders is that they all think a helicopter carrier filled with the worse variant of the F35 is a good idea but by the time they finish their floating dock the F35 will already be kinda old, and after it becomes outdated let's say in 20 years, you are left with a useless heli carrier since the F35 was probably the last VTOL that'll ever be produced and sold to thirdies

Singapore's been a de facto independent trading and pirate port for centuries. The Maylays are butthurt the British kept the two of them separate during the colonial era. A few years after both were spun off from the Empire, they briefly formed a federation. The Malays immediately tried to loot it (as in stealing 60% of its gross revenue outright), remove its parliamentary representation, and truck in a bunch of carpetbaggers. Indonesia, Malaysia, and quite possibly China also pumped a bunch of money into destabilizing shit, there were rapidly-escalating race riots, generally a massive clusterfuck. From pretty much day one the Singaporeans have been playing every side they can find for as much profit as they can, and doing it pretty well.

They've been experimenting with jeep carriers for years, they were testing ASW choppers on an old landing ship back when I was there last in 2005. They're shit-scared of the Chinks (or any of their neighbors) sending subs and commerce raiders into the shipping lanes because they'll be buttfucked in a few months without them. This is just more ASW and customs patrol options, especially with the Chinks being their usual selves and the general uptick in piracy.

The Western mind, to place the Malaysian forces in the same category as the Arabs is an under estimation. Malaysian soldiers, sailors and airman join the regular forces for the love of the profession, most of them. There are servicemen with an impressive lineage of soldiering. Most Malaysian servicemen have been blooded. Malaysian troops constantly have combined arms exercises throughout the year, they have elaborately planned out training cycles for the individual, units, brigades, divisions and the corps as a whole. They exercise in peace times with imaginery enemies, they have made mistakes, they go back to the drawing boards. They know their weaknesses, they improvise, adapt and overcome. They also conduct lots of cross training with foreign forces. The United States conducts training exercises with the Royal Malaysian Air Force, flying with and against them in mock battles. U.S. Navy SEALs conduct training in Malaysia twice a year. The U.S. Army does field exercises with the Malaysian army. I might mention here that, for their expertise in jungle warfare, Malaysians are known in the business as "whispering death." Malaysian troops are the only forces in the world to have defeated a communist insurgency. They happen to be the best jungle fighters in the world. In the decades in the fight against the Communists, there is no record of a Malaysian soldier taken alive. Elite fores all over the world are trained by them. The jungle warfare school in Fort Benning, Georgia was set up by a Malaysian team.

in term of military prowess? sure malaysian may not have fancy toys as singapore have but malaysian has send their troops on the field for as long as i could remember (kosovo, somalia, iraq etc). malaysian armed forces was also tested locally during communist insurgency, konfrontasi period and most recent lahad datu stand off not to mention the aftermath where they always rotate soldier for ESCOM patrol and constant joint training with japanese/us navy. other than that our intelligence branch keep fishing for islamic extremist so much we dont even flinch when arrest was in the news. will this experience tip the favor against much fancier toys that they have? no one knows.

Malaysian UN peacekeepers managed to rescue bunch of supposedly "elite" Delta's and Ranger's in Mogadishu in 1993. The Americans believed that their super Delta,Ranger and SOAR could do a thing inside city filled with hostile Somalian. The American launched their raid without even informing the UN allies. The reason the Malaysian took more than hours just to assemble their troops and armoured asset because General Garrison "intelligence" staff forgot to inform what kind help they wanted. Even though the Malaysian got their intelligence and FAC asset on the ground, their attempt to help the Navy P-3 Orion locating the exact location of Super 61 were refused by Garrison G2 officer.

The Saudis and Malaysian peacekeepers were also instrumentals of rescue of Michael Durant and bodies of fallen 160th SOAR crew by bravely ventured in the heart of Mogadishu UNARMED to negotiate with lots and lots of pissed of Somalia clan leader while getting surrounded by lots and lots of angry Somalians just days after failed American operation.

I'd argue Singapore doesn't really need 6 days to sink any attempted invasion by Indonesia and roll tanks to the Thai border by the 5th day since any opposition would be blown to bits by HIMARS or F-35. There's a reason why they don't need an American military presence on their island and certainly it was not to cozy up to China seeing as they literally conduct exercises on Taiwan itself

What a fascinating post. I always wondered what was going through the heads of third world militaries right before the US or another western country wipes the floor with them. It was a mystery to me what they were missing, why they couldn't see that their poorly trained and equipped militaries with shit logistics were about to get annihilated. But your post tells me the answer - you point to whatever your shiniest toys are, and think they make you invincible. No need to train on those toys, they are powerful anyway. No need to mind the other side's toys, they aren't as good as ours. Plus add in a bunch of weird reasoning (like apparently the singaporean air force will just get tired and let malaysia bomb them uncontested after a while???) and you get this marvelous delusional outlook. The Iraqis who shot back probably actually thought they would win, even in 2003. Lol

>We can effectively neutralize their entire airforce with a single artillery barrage and then go in.
Wow what a great plan, surely this won't obviously not work and result in catastrophic disaster
>>
>>64408054
Why don't it work
>>
>>64408089
a) you need to get all their air bases covers by your artillery
b)without them noticing you moving them into position
d)being able to open fire with complete surprise
c)without them rebasing any aircraft to an allied or third country air port
e)without them being able to hit your artillery
f)without them being able to scramble any aircraft
I'm sure that in your little SEAmonkey brain that will all work out by magic
but here's the real kicker. there's an Singapore air force base on Changi international airport.
So you'd have to bomb an airport that's THE hub for air traffic in South East Asia and Asia in general. An airport that is full of civilians from all over the world. all it takes is one errant shell and you've just killed a couple dozen Americans.
>but we can tell them to evacuate
d)being able to open fire with complete surprise
the moment you issue a waring you are going to give Singapore time to evacuate and rebase it's air force. never mind what closing one of the world most busy airports is going to do to you diplomatically. we are talking the chinks, US and every other relevant country calling you up and telling you to knock it off.
and if you open fire on Changi airport without a warning you'll be getting the same calls but with explicit threats to intervene if you don't stop it right now.
that one airport is more important to the rest of the world than your entire country

I lived and went to school in Singapore for 4 years as an American expat. This would have been in the mid 2010s

From what I remember I was really impressed by how clean everything is, the relative lack of poverty, and some impressive technology. I miss hawker food. Unlike a lot of other countries in the region there were very few bugs because of pest control efforts and it was a very cosmopolitan city overall with some very advanced technology. They have these massive drains wide enough to fit a car in that they used to collect rainwater and reprocess it for drinking water. Also water from sewage is recycled into clean drinking water. The climate there is punishingly humid and lightning storms are frequent.

I will say that I don't think much of their culture. A lot of it is manufactured for tourists and seems really fake and forced. For example, the Mer-Lion. Singaporeans themselves are kind of spergy and autistic. Singapore is also run by one party and it shows. News is suspiciously and creepily censored and they'll fucking kill you if you have an once of weed on you. They have a litany of nonsensical, highly autistic laws and stiff fines or punishments for each. One party exclusively based on family lineage wins elections and singaporean politicians make 7x the salary of equivalent US politicians, supposedly to make them impossible to bribe.

Ever read Aldous Huxley's Brave New World? Singapore is the nice version of a dictatorship. It's like if the Kims from North Korea were somewhat benevolent and actually try to build a functional society but make it a subtle dictatorship. People don't get disappeared and politicians aren't majorly corrupt (because they're already well paid) but it's got kind of a big brother is watching you vibe. But a pretty great place to live if you toe the line.

Nothing stopping USA from having good relation with Malaysia. Just stop support for Zionist occupation regime in Palestine and illegal invasion against Iraq, and trying to sanction neutral countries that have relations with Russia.

Despite the fact that Malaysia is a larger and more strategically important country when it comes to countering the PRC in the South China Sea, the US ... has chosen to favor Singapore diplomatically and arm it with latest equipment like F-35 and HIMARS and give them basing rights in Guam. While Malaysia's armed forces facing budgetary constraints. Yet US only provides token assistance to Malaysia such as donating maritime surveillance radar, coast guard ship and MPAs. Just because Malaysia in the past adopted a principled neutral stance and refuse to support illegal US war in Iraq, Israeli genocide in Gaza and condemn Russian war in Ukraine.

Ironically, Singapore are nothing but a Chinese bitch. Just another Chinese province. Don't agree? Just look at who in charge of Singapore Armed Forces.

Singapore paid for that gear. Malaysia tried to cry about how they'd buy Russian if the US didn't give ours away and got a shrug and an "okay, be our guest". The Singaporeans have a deepwater military port capable of servicing CVNs and have repeatedly shown that they can keep it secure. You also seem to have forgotten that the "Chinese" in that photo are more ideologically and politically aligned with the early dictatorship in Taiwan than the chicoms. Wat. The LDP has been as dominant as it has (including losing power or governing as a minority several times) because it's functionally the lowest common denominator party (created when the two largest parties merged to cock-block the socialists in '55) but what that means is that the LDP is a dozen smaller parties in a trenchcoat that fight like cats in a sack amongst themselves and the actual policies enacted can vary wildly based on which internal faction is on top.

I'll add that Singapore to this day is still training on Taiwanese soil despite China protesting. Singapore is about the only western aligned city that openly defies China with China being unable to do anything to it in return because of Singapore's strategic location at the strait. Singapore and the KMT of the past had deep ties with Singapore being a major base for revolutionaries against the Qing and later, financial support for the southern KMT. >Why is Singapore buying ships
>With a flight deck for the F-35
Because we're going to fight WW3 with China in the next 10-20 years and the primary phase of that war is going to be the US, NATO and the various Asian nations that also hate the Chinks rat-fucking the PLN until they run out of ships. Then the next stage will be picking apart the PLA when they try to invade their neighbors to avoid starvation. Singapore, being one of those Asian nations that hates China, is building these ships both to ensure their own sovereignty, and also to get a seat at the table when the Chinks get picked apart in the postwar settlements. Everyone wants some of that money, land and resources. The only people who won't get anything but famine are the Chinks. Simple as.
>>
>>64411896
What is Singapore hoping to get?
>>
>>64412033
Strategically? The usual. Territorial assurances, including their sea lanes. Favorable trade agreements. Tamp down piracy in the region. Not get ratfucked by the Mainlanders. They want to end up sitting at the Big Boy Table when shit finally pops off. The odds that at least one of their neighbors is going to try to get gangsta on them in the confusion are extremely high at that point, because they've done it repeatedly in the past.
Likewise, the Chinese want to control the incredibly profitable sealanes, ratfuck and humiliate every ethnic Chinese-ish enclave that isn't part of their vision for One China, and plunder everything they can from everyone in the region. In a shooting war Singapore's position is extremely tenuous, but if they're a spicy enough problem and the Chink navy has more important things to deal with? They're MUCH better off. Hong Kong used to have very tight (and extremely profitable) ties with Singapore as well, and any scenario where the CCP fractures could very well reinstate those.
>>
>>64412120
So why get a destroyer rather than 2 more subs?
>>
>>64412123
Like I said upthread, their "right now" problems are pirates, uppity neighbors, and subs. Destroyers solve those problems. They're faster. Cheaper to maintain. Better at ASW against multiple opponents. Subs can't effectively interdict pirates, do customs patrols, get in some light shore bombardment, host/rearm F-35s that had to divert from a strike or launch a stealth strike from an unanticipated vector, sail out to show the flag "escorting" a Western battlegroup, and/or very publically visit friendly countries for general dickwaving purposes. Subs just sorta lurk and rust right up until you need to delete something, and they're only good at blowing up one or two big things at a time -- not a bunch of small ones very quickly.

Remember, Torpedo Boat Destroyer. Naval drones. We're back on the Pre-Dread meta but now with 500 times the range.

Don't tell me you're the retard who keeps comparing Singapore with Israel even though they're nothing alike. Surrounding SEA states are not an enemy of Singapore since they keep it afloat. Malaysia is who *gave* Singapore their independence you imbecile, and the two are connected via rail, and all their food is imported from Malaysia and Indonesia. All their construction material is imported. Unlike Israel which has irrigation and agriculture, Singapore is entirely dependent on neighbors. If Malaysia and Indonesia blocked trade and maritime access, Singapore would collapse.

Neither Malaysia nor Indonesia has invaded Singapore nor has any wishes to absorb them. Everything else is just schizo paranoia that has zero basis in reality. They're not even close to being similar to Israel since no one in Southeast Asia is calling for their extermination. Malaysia and Indonesia aren't Hezbollah and Hamas, they never once invaded Chinkapore and have zero ambitions in doing so.

Destroyers, not aircraft carriers, are the modern battleship. They are the most powerful surface combatants afloat. Many are approaching the weight of pre-dreadnought battleships. A modern guided missile destroyer could destroy a mid-20th century battlewagon with ease. If a carrier got into a gun battle with a destroyer, it would be destroyed easily. That is why they need destroyers to escort them.

Any navy without destroyers, is like a early 20th century navy without battleships. Destroyers are the modern battleship, and all naval strength should be measured in destroyers, not carriers or SSBNs. They should be considered capital ships.

The USN has over 100 destroyers and destroyer-based cruisers.

This. If Malaysia wanted, it can easily conquer Singapore. I hope it happens.

When Malaysia procured PT-91M, Singapore & Indonesia rush in to acquire 2nd hand Leo2. During that time, everyone was like looked down at Malaysia PT-91M due to its design based on T-72. Couple of years the mocking comes to a new height that later during Merdeka Day Malaysia indirectly answer all those mocking by just simply presenting team RPG-7 trooper with bike. At that time nobody realize what this is all mean. During Ukraine-Russia, all myths about Leo2 superiority went down to the drain as Russia just showcase how Leo2 can be disable easily with FPV attack drone. To fully wrap up & throw all the myth about Leo2 superiority is during Palestine-Israel war when Hamas showcased how Merkava (touted as the most powerful MBT in the world) can actually be disable with RPG-7+tandem warhead. Now remember back previously Malaysia showcasing RPG-7 bike trooper in the midst of public's sceptical on PT-91M capability to face neighboring countries. & Malaysia also have tandem warhead. Malaysia have been telling to the public that it is not necessarily MBT vs MBT during battle. If even Merkava can be disable using RPG with tandem warhead, what more Leo2? & its just a matter of time before Malaysia gonna reveal their own attack drone squad

Malaysia might showing their inferiority in terms of modern weaponry, but they always show their superiority in terms of tactical warfare that others only realized it later on. Malaysia is the richest and strongest country in Southeast Asia, our military is the largest in Southeast Asia, no one dares to fight us. Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand are far below our military strength
>>
Island Southeast Asia has no stomach and has never gone to war against one another, it's mainland Indochina who has chimped out over the millennia

Only Malaysian Armed Forces has the 'Berani Mati' spirit unlike so-called first world countries. Singapore punks need thwir maids to carry rheir bags and r just livin out childhood fantasies and wud piss a puddle in their panties when the push comes to CQ fighting

Malaysia's strength is in guerilla warfare, they have like 300k reservists militia trained for local terrain, along with special forces. If any high-tech army like Singapore came across the border, it would be destroyed within a month of Malaysian insurgents innawoods. Malaysia had the toughest commando and special force unit in South East Asia. They happen to be the best jungle fighters in the world. Malaysian troops are the only forces in the world to have defeated a communist insurgency. They happen to be the best jungle fighters in the world. In the decades in the fight against the Communists, there is no record of a Malaysian soldier taken alive.

Elite fores all over the world are trained by them. The jungle warfare school in Fort Benning, Georgia was set up by a Malaysian team. The UK, NZ and Australian forces have joint training in Malaysia to learn jungle warfare from Malaysian forces on an annual basis, especially after the Vietnam war. Just learn about Col Charles Beckwith ... he had been part of British Special Air Services (SAS) in Malaya and used the knowledge to further develop US Special Force programmes including Vietnam and Delta Forces. Malaysian Special Force are rooted from SAS the same way and time during his tour there too. Some additional jungle skills from the native were also included, specially in tracking and hiding.

Malaysia and Indonesia have a deep alliance that goes beyond race and religion. They frequently intimidate Singapore with military exercises. In a war between Singapore and Malaysia, Indonesia will swoop in and annex Singapore.

I find it weird as well that in his perfect world, the US would give them modern gear for nothing and turn a blind eye towards their nation being in bed with the PRC. It's also funny how he believes that Malaysia is on the same level as both nations and thinks that just because Malaysia has some sway around poorer thirdie countries in some Islamic country in the Middle East or Africa, they get to seat with the big boys who make the world turn around.
>>

Malaysia controls half of the Straits of Malacca, Malaysia can cut off water and food supplies to Singapore if it caters to US ships. Malaysia and Indonesia will gladly lend China their land to host infinite low tech and cheap anti ship missiles. Not to mention the straits are so narrow that you cant fit a US strike group through.
>>
>>64412299
I'm pretty sure Malay's can get better artillery an missiles than whatever ancient SCUD missiles the Houthis are currently using up and thus could turn the Strait of Malacca into an instant death sentence to any Chinese commercial or PLA navy ships that sail there. This is one of the reasons for the CCP can rationalize trying and annex Taiwan (again). Their existence greatly inconveniences the CCP hence why China's always buttering Malaysia up to maintain a neutral or even pro China government.

Of course Malay's understand their position is quite strategic as do the Indonesians hence why they try to play all sides.

China diversified away from the Malacca Strait over the past decade.
There's gas and oil pipelines and highways that go through Myanmar which connects China's Yunnan Province to the Indian Ocean thereby bypassing the Malacca Strait.
There's also pipelines and rail lines going through Central Asia and Russia which connect to China.
They're also building another route through Pakistan which would also connect to the Indian Ocean. India and China are both investing in port and rail lines in Iran.

Near the Malacca Strait, China has built a naval base in Cambodia, and Malaysia sold off a large island to its south to a Chinese developer called Forest City. China also has agents in Singapore.
So the region is something they still have in their crosshairs but it's not nearly as big of a chokepoint that it was two decades ago.
>>
>>64412316
I'm sure they can. But Malaysia's strategy of constantly fence-sitting and trying to play both sides ( and even aligning with the Chicoms ) will mean that they're not going to get the best of the best out of China or the US ( which means no F35s - something Malayschizo has constantly seethed about ). Indonesia atleast has the advantage of having the resources that the world needs and the political/economic sway to be a regional player to afford being able to play all sides.

You can think of the way the US has "slighted" Malaysia in terms of "I'm not giving you access to my top of the line equipment because I don't trust you enough that you won't sell it off to my rival that you're in bed with"
>>
>>64412332
>but it's not nearly as big of a chokepoint that it was two decades ago.

>one of the files he posted had a name that's an Indonesian slur against Malaysia (malon)
>from his posts, he actually has positive views of the West which makes his hatred of Singapore odd. Most Westernized malaysians adore Singapore for being what Malaysia could be. Furthermore the malaysian parties on both sides are chums with the CCP. Legit malay nationalists would decry Singapore as bastion of Western imperialism
>the rent-free obsession with Australia is an Indonesia only thing. Most Malaysians don't even think about Australia at all. When they do, it's either because they want to study/emigrate there or in the context of the Commonwealth. Nobody cares that there's a permanent Australian garrison in Malaysia

Singapore is a great example of why a dictatorship is the ideal form of governance, if the dictator is benevolent and competent. It's why emperors guided Rome to far greater heights than the Republican era, and why emperors also led to Rome's death. Elimination of meaningful opposition in power paves the way for good rulers to make good choices, and for bad rulers to make bad choices. And unfortunately, history shows that the latter is more frequent. By comparison, democracy is like hedging your bets: great presidents have their potential impact reduced, but terrible presidents are easily removed and reversed.

>Singapore was always a backwater nowheresville until the bongs showed up
Singapore was also a backwater nowheresville when the bongs left it, too. This is not one of the colonies where they invested significantly in local governance and infrastructure; Singapore was a complete shithole all the way up until independence. But they rolled the dice on a dictator once the bongs left, and wound up with the benevolent and highly capable type, which (combined with the expansion of global shipping) was the real catalyst to their success. The Brits actually had very little to do with it.

This is actually one of the biggest lies.

Throughout history, people from wealthier backgrounds always stood and fight more often than people from lower classes, as they either had more to protect or were ingrained with the sense of 'honor' throughout their entire life. This something that poor people won't even understand or lack.

Singapore imo has a made a very poor decision in aligning with the West against Russia/China. While in the short term it lets them gain access to advanced military technologies like F-35 over their neighbors, how long is that going to last? Whereas China will continue to be the economic center of gravity in Asia for the long term, even with the trade sanctions. What's worse is that China is now well-aware of the Singapore leadership's hostility and joining containment towards it and is now investing in Malaysia infrastructure to build it up as an alternative economic and transit hub, which Singapore cannot counter with all the kinetic military advantages it has gotten from being a US puppet.

Not to mention the Singapore leadership's alignment against China is against the wishes of most of the population who still view China positively according to polls, which makes Singapore susceptible to regime change should China choose to influence local politics like they do in Taiwan. Malaysia has made the smarter bet for the future by choosing to stay non-aligned and keep friendly relations with Putin's Russia and China, instead of hitching themselves to the declining US empire

Debatable. With SEAD/DEAD and air superiority, pretty much any opposing force turns into Saddam's demoralized surrender monkeys in today's war. It all still comes down to morale. Discipline can help, but troops with high morale will stand and fight where shocked troops surrender or rout. Air power, even the lowly A-10, will fuck your shit up in such an overwhelming way that anyone who sees the red paste where you used to be will probably be ready to get the fuck out of Dodge in short order.
