Why arent there any hydrogen bullets and automatic hydrogen guns yet?It is way cheaper than smokeless powder, can be crafted by anyone with enough knowledge/money and can be modded to be the most perfect and fit personal defence weapon.
seems unreliable and slow to use
>>64400192hydrogen is the tiniest atom, and seeps into everything, it's not worth the expense.
Because the people that think it's a good idea like (you) are too fucking stupid to understand why it's not.
>>64400236What if it gets the proper sealing? We are able to seal nanometer wide transistors, why cant we sell hydrogen cartridges?
>>64400259everytime you think of a way to mitigate hydrogen related problems like embrittlement, the cost of your cartrige skyrockets, it's not worth it.
>>64400262What if you mix it with inert gas such as argon for stability and use it as a primer for a gas cartridge filled with flammable gas like butane? It can drastically cut the artillery costs.
>>64400192I'm not a chemist by trade, but surely you're describing a fart gun? There is no energy density in the lightest gas compared to solid powder. If you were fighting in a cryogenic laboratory or outer space with liquid hydrogen you could be neighbors with the nitrogen bonds of normal propellants.
>>64400330That's more expensive still
>>64400330Brilliant plan fuckwad, lets just make our combustible gas less fucking combustible by mixing in a stupidly expensive gas that exists in limited quantities. Fucking idiot.
>>64400415>that exists in limited quantitiesthere's loads of it in the atmosphere, it's just shy :(
>>64400415It is enough to ignite a flame and cause a reaction to another flamable matter, even mixed with argon it would be less prone to shortages and faster to produce than smokeless powder. We could also make pvc primers to avoid hydrogene embrittlement and make it reliable for conservation.
>>64400246Third post best post.
Hydrogen is mostly produced from natural gas and it's loaded with impurities with affect combustion. The real problem with hydrogen is storage. It's the smallest atom and leaks out of just about everything. A hydrogen gun would be extremely expensive because of the necessary storage requirements.
A hydrogen fuel cell DEW is more feasible>Muh safetyWe designed scarier guns that are portable superfund sites.
>>64400330>>64400259its ok to just let your thread die after you get your question answered.
