discuss

I think it's not gonna be fielded since we're getting into autonomous warfare with robots & AI now.
>>
Honestly, just having constant comms with your teammates and a HUD compass with maybe the direction of your teammates and a marker for if they ping some direction would already be a huge help and would be much easier to implement than a full on FPS shooter hud with a minimap etc.

How do you actually operate the HUD, though? I can understand the basic augmented reality portions, but what about parts like 0:20, where he selects the loitering munition and tells it to kill the vehicle? How is this actually going to be accomplished IRL?

Headset discussion starts at around 3hr mark at the end btw
also the helmet is powered by a ceramic armor plate that also serves as a computer & radio which is pretty cool
he says it subtracts 10lbs of gear weight

Yeah that sounds better. Things being there or not being there are enough. No text necessary. You have to remember this is being sold to the people with the ability to actually dictate if it goes through however, not grunts. So the fact they can see there Facebook feed equivalent is probably a huge + and a good marketing move
This also made me realize I’m autistic enough to want a compass, leveler, + other retarded bullshit built into a guns frame.

This shit has been around since the 80s in one form or another and it never gets beyond T and E because of a litany of issues.
You're right. Drones are taking over. I saw a video of Marines shooting at moving targets and one of the comments under the video was >why not just give the target robots guns and have them do the marines job?
well thats already happening. it's the way of the future. human gunfighters are archers in the age of gunpowder. they'll stick around a while longer but their twilight is here. The same is true for manned aircraft; much to the immeasurable seethe of pilots and manned aircraft fans everywhere
>fighters will get rid of the men and become drones with the ability to do everything a manned aircraft can do
Kelly Johnson said this in the 80s. He spoke about the eventual takeover of drones a few times.

It's not 1980... You're typing on a touch screen phone that has more computing power than super computers of the 80s. Time to get with the times. Or are you just an asshurt chink, poo, vatnig, or turd worlder jealously seething? I think the latter. Post hand and outlet.

Cool ad, but this technology has been around since forever without the integrated slop generator. Toys like this will never be widely issued due to cost. The elite units that do get these will be told to experiment with them but regardless will continue to train without them because consumer tech is fragile. COD HUD makes cool investorbait but the benefits are marginal

You’re a subhuman cope cuck.
They’re are being synched with drones and will be distributed to at least one guy on the squad level to even our poorer nato allies.

The more tools you give a man in combat the less effective he'll be at using them. This won't work because it's essentially over-stimulation. You have to make things idiot-proof and this ain't.

>>64406457
The HMIF program is going to be critical for this. There's no way you can use goggles to pilot drones with how many different platforms the US uses without it.

Datalink built into every helmet and drone, time to buy L3Harris & BAE stock.
>>
>>64408596
While having all that shit moving around while on patrol actively looking for threats would suck you need to remember most of war is sitting around and you can find cover to sit around it pretty quickly most of the time.
You aren't going to be walking around while flying a drone but you can stay in cover while the rest of your section surpresses as you fly the drone or mark threats for other assets.
>>
>>64406457
Most of this looks like a great way to give yourself motion sickness with the parallax.
Or piss off a stressed out grunt in the middle of a firefight as notifications keep popping up.

Better thermals and NVGs are the biggest goals for these headsets. The rest of what the IVAS and this promise(d) is mostly useless or extraneous.
>>
>>64406513
This looks terrible.
That selection wheel system taking up your screen is something that would get patched out of a video game for being distracting, let alone a real headset for people killing and getting killed.

I'ma put my autism hat in the ring, the hud shown in forward unto dawn would honestly be the ideal. Compass, weapon layout/ammo read, small team positioning radar. I would take the borders out completely, make the compass fit the whole view instead of a small section and make weapon readouts just a number in the corner instead of showing the gun too. Basically perfect for general duties. Maybe add a small comms readout so you can see who's talking
>>
>>64409892
There's no reason why you can't just have the relevant info and widgets only show up when activated then fade out. Most minimalist FPS HUDs alread account for horrible clutter problems this way, you really only need the compass and MAYBE a type of spot marker so that a team lead can literally highlight the direction and location everyone needs to look at, or when someone has contact everyone immediately sees it too.

You don't need your teammates highlighted all the time, maybe only if you're directly staring at them at the center of your field of view. Same with shit like a minimap or a comms log, all can be push press on your little bracelet controller or whatever it uses.
