>Press-in barrel.
>Milspec trigger
>Older tank brake that still recoils like a bitch instead of the new QDL system that accepts their suppressors
>Cheekrest on the aluminum surface
>Still offering the shitty fluted barrels
>No picatinny for rear monopod
When will the Australians move this ugly thing into modernity and give it the upgrades it needs? The only saving grace is that this is the cheapest 416 Barrett rifle available for ELR shooting, but even then, no one is buying this for serious competition work and 416 Hellfire is better anyways. AR-50 beats them out in every facet except for eight and portability

Doubt it'll ever happen.
>50 BMG for long range shooting has been supplanted by several 30s caliber EnABELR, XCs, and SAUMs.
>manually operated rifles are cheaper, lighter, and more modular
>long range target engagement in the military is a job that has been almost totally taken over by cheap small attack drones.
In short there's no market for an upgraded version of this particularly beast. Barret's own offering is the MRAD and MRAD-ELR

Holy shit, they're still around?
I've got two of these fuckers in the garage. Mounted one on bolt gun. The reticle is clever but ungodly busy.

the M99 is an afterthought, same with the M95. if you want super accuracy get the mrad, if you want beeg boolit get the m107
