Using modern materials and calibers.I just want to shoot at home without anyone hearing anything. Is that really too much to ask?
>>64411529If only you knew anon
>>64411529I mean really how hard is this to do with modern equipment and materials?I'm so tired of the reproduction mentalityjust stick to a guns purpose and function then make a gun that fulfills that conceptmake the quietest pistol carbine you can makesimple
>>64411529I don't think they're a thing in the states, but in euro countries where suppressors aren't restricted, you can get 10/22 ported barrels with full-length suppressors. As for integrally suppressed bolt actions, there are a bunch on the market.
>>64411529>I just want to shoot at home without anyone hearing anything.>Is that really too much to ask?1. Get a suppressed air rifle. That's as quiet as you can get.2. Get a suppressed bolt 22lr and subs. Also will get you approaching hollywood quiet.3. Get a 300bo sub focused gun with a nice 30cal can. About as good as you can easily do with centerfire. Not that I have anything against cool old guns getting revived but you don't have to wait for it either if you want quieter shooting. End of the tax stamp slightly raises the odds of more integral designs coming back, but it'd probably be years.
>>64411554>I don't think they're a thing in the states, but in euro countries where suppressors aren't restricted, you can get 10/22 ported barrels with full-length suppressorsYou could for awhile in the states too, a company in Florida iirc called Elevated Silence did a very reasonably priced integral 22 line called the EOS. They were cool and worked well but I think they're out of business (dunno if they didn't sell enough or it was just a couple of dudes who had their fun and retired). If you hunt around there are a few specialty places that'll do full custom integral barrels for you but they're all damn expensive, nothing like a standard market. Maybe over the next few years.
>>64411529Okay so take the Ruger takedown rifle and redesign the front end to have a 6 inch vented barrel and a massive can on the front end.
>>64411529What's the point? You can get better noise reduction out of a modern suppressor that isn't a giant trashcan.
>>64411641The De Lisle carbine avg sound report is 85.5 decibels.
>>64411686Oh man I love it when retards parrot this ancient fuddlore without even checking the original source.
>>64411711So the ancient fuddlore is true? Why mald about it then?
>>64411798lmao might want to work on those reading comprehension skills
>>64411711thanks for providing source I guess?
>>64411641>What's the point?>inherently subsonic because .45, no special loads required just grab a box>bolt action further reduces gasses escaping and even less noise than semi-automatics because of the action>forgot your earpro? doesn't matter, can still literally have a conversation while shooting thisi suppose you could get *close* to the level of noise reduction with other modern offerings, but they're usually either semi-auto like something for 10/22s or it's for some new flat shooting gucci round that costs $2/ea or more. if the delisle itself wasn't so damn rare and expensive, it would be a really awesome rodent remover, trash blaster, woods walker and so on.
>>64412101my dream modern De Lisle would be an AR platform for part/modularity and then turn it into a bolt action or lever action so as to make it extra quiet with interchangeable barrels (AR upper) for different ammo types starting with 9mm, design the integral suppression to turn the 9mm into subsonic like the MP5SDbasically im not designing for style just a pure economically practical super silent gun you can shoot at home without anyone thinking you're shooting anything but an airsoft/toy gunPSA should make it
>>64411529you need some serious ventilation for that, you'll have some sort of lung or kidney cancer within a decade if you breathe every bit of every round you fire. Also the projectiles would be a problem, you're either shooting lead or expensive downloaded copper solids, lead would need a gentle trap that doesn't deform the bullets much as it stops them, so you're not inhaling aerosolized lead particles. You could build one yourself, legally, with a bit of documentation, tools, knowledge and money. If you don't care about cancer then what the fuck would laws matter to you? There's also pic related, which I found you know hwere. It's a goddamn good looking gun. The real answer is this though >>64411562 Air guns are the answer that doesn't kill you or get you buttfucked in prison.

>>64411529Valkyrie Firearms down in Tacoma WA (Olympia WA?) did a few years ago>was a passion project>probably not the best business sense>saw early samples at Washington Arms Collectors gun shows in Puyallup WA >dead sexy>but the price...
>still a .45>quieter>can shoot indoors without ventilation
>>64411711Did they even have instruments capable of properly recording the volume of a gunshot at that time?
>>64411798>>64412030Since you are obviously retarded, I'll give you a hint. That report is claiming 125dB for a non-suppressed Sten gun. That immediately tells you those numbers are bullshit.
>>64412166GarandThumb really should've put in a modern decibel test in this video to put all this debate >>64411711>>64412919>>64413044 to rest.
>>64411711Keep in mind that the dB scale is logarithmic, a difference of 3 means the amount of sound has doubled. So the silenced sten at 89 is more than twice as loud as the Delisle. 125 is well into hearing damage range.
>>64414221You do realize that no unsuppressed 9mm on earth is 125dB, right? That's well down into .22 with a can territory.
>>64412151>AR platform for part/modularity and then turn it into a bolt actionSome guy was working on that on reddit, using 100% off the shelf parts.Ironically it involved a bear creak arms bolt action ar upper of all things. That, along with a CMMG RDB barrel and a 5.45x39 AR bolt, feeding from a Glock mag lower. As far as I am aware it was successful, but I can't remember 100%.
>>64414236Nigga wut? You can shoot a .22 without hearing protection, it is nowhere near 125dB. You have some terrible reading or mathmatical comprehension because those numbers do not mean what you think they mean.
>>64414247>some guy was working on that on reddit You should fuck off back there
>>64414294Like three people on /k/ do gunsmithing of any sort anymore so it's there and WG when I want to get new ideas for fun things. Also suck my asshole I'm middle aged and have been on chans since before you were born newfag, go back to the womb or something I don't care.
>>64414257Unsuppressed .22s typically range from 130 up to 150ish decibels. Swear to God this board gets dumber by the day.
>>64414257>unsuppressed 22lr>nowhere near 125dBI suppose you're technically correct, but the DIRECTION of "nowhere near 125dB" is the opposite of what one would want for hearing safe lol.
>>64414221No, a difference of 3 halves the average duration the sound level can be consistent without hearing damage according to OSHA and NIOSH standards. Sound intensity doubles with every 10 dB. 125 dB is 16x more intense than 85, and the safe exposure duration is about 8,200x less so about 3.5 seconds max in a 24 hr period before permanent hearing damage begins to occur (based on an 8 hour safe exposure level of 85 dB).
>>64414257Another post from the peak of Mount Stupid.
>>64414257you can shoot 22 shorts out of a rifle without earpro, and shorter barrel or more powerful round will give you the EEEEEEEEEEEE
>>64412156>you need some serious ventilation for thator you can just shoot outside in your garden>Air guns are the answer that doesn't kill you or get you buttfucked in prison.aye with this one, nobody would give a fuck if you use an airgun at home, safest option there is for home entertainment with guns
>>64414221>>64414540Decibels measures absolute energy, the trough-to-peak level (with a maximum possible on earth around 190 or something, but the point at which the the wave would go supersonic and the trough is vacuum thus no higher level is possible). The brain's subjective perception and ear cell reaction to decibels is relevant if we're talking "how loud it sounds", like if you were military trying to guess how humans would hear a sniper, but if we're talking medical effects then it's purely the energy that matters. It doesn't matter whether you hear it or not, 10x the energy delivered to an ear hair cell is 10x the energy.>>64414843>you can shoot 22 shorts out of a rifle without earproYeah that's getting low enough to shoot a certain amount, but nobody is talking about 22 short or 22 wmr or any 22 but 22lr when they just say "22" anon.
they do, its just expensive which may as well be the same as not existing as far as you're concerned.
>>64411529mp5sd
>>64411529I really REALLY want an integrally suppressed KSG
>>64411554You could get some smith to do it for a De Lisle type gun too but idk man
>>64415235too expensiveeven the replicas are too expensive and a modern de lisle would be4 quieter than the quietest MP5SDI want as many civilians as possible to readily own a means of shooting as quiet as possible without breaking their wallets
>>64414257you can indeed shoot .22lr out of a rifle without hearing protection, it's just that it will slowly destroy your hearing over time despite not hurting
>>64415290I AM COOM
>>64415908If you shoot CCI quiet (the 710 fps stuff) out of something like an 18" 10/22 or bolt gun it's almost as quiet as suppressed supers. It won't cycle a semi auto action, but it's great fun if you live somewhere nearby other people and can't get a suppressor in your state, but still want to pop cans in your backyard.
>>64412606his price wasnt even bad what happened was the guy died during covid, now u only have US Armament mfg making them at nearly 7k a pop
>>64415203>literally zero replies because i was correct
>>64418014you didn't get any replies because you didn't say anything worth replying to. You posted a cool gun at least.
