Total gun noob here. Only got my license and firearm recently. Try carrying whenever I leave the house, but running into some problems. My carry (it's a medium sized pistol) is pretty obvious when the wind blows in a certain direction. I usually tuck it into my belt on my back. I don't wear a lot of layers so it gets pretty obvious sometimes, and if I wore more layers I would overheat. It's also not very easy to sit down or squat without my pistol showing.I also also don't understand how to carry while driving. Do I put my gun somewhere else in the car? Is there a way to holster it so I can comfortably sit with it and reach for it when needed?
>>64412252"Printing" is something you stop worrying about once you realize how oblivious most people are. The only ones who might, emphasis on might, notice are other people who carry guns regularly. They aren't going to say anything. Also, get a proper holster. Don't just tuck your gun into your belt. That's fine in movies, but you need a holster to keep your pistol in place while you move around. Small of back carry is fine, and it's one of the most concealed positions, especially for a larger pistol. You have already run into the major drawback of that carry position, namely that it is uncomfortable and inaccessible when when seated. Either unholster and stick the pistol in your glove box or tuck it between the seats or change your carry position. I have been carrying full-size (1911, Jericho 941) and compact (Glock 23, Browning Hi-Power, Styer M40A1) pistols for about 20 years now. Tried everything from appendix to small of back to shoulder rigs. I have ended up carrying 3 o'clock OWB with an untucked shirt as a cover. Holster is a Galco with an "FBI cant", meaning the pistol is angled forward a few degrees. Comfortable, no issues when seated, stays covered for the most part when doing physical work. Try a few different things, you'll find something that works for you.
>>64412252Appendix carry us the best for concealment. If you don't want a print, buy a nicer holster, gun or both.
keister it
>>64412252Prison pocketOnly way to be sure
Used to carry on the hip but had a hoodie over it so it was very very obvious, but a lot of people somehow missed it. No one will know or care desu. Appendix carry is the real answer. Get a Phlster Enigma
Thank you all for the answers they're helpfulIs appendix carry convenient enough for sitting and driving? Or are there other optionsI'd test it out rn instead of asking but I can't for a while
>>64413064Oh and for reference, for what it might matter, I'm carrying a Canek TP9 SF
>>64412252Is it cold? Shoulder holster. Otherwise an IWB with a nub (body facing, lower of the holster) to angle it into you more favorably.
yeah you're in for a rough time, trying out holsters and mindlessly trying what works for days or even weeks/months until you just get pic related, pocket carry and don't ever worry about comfort/printin again
>>64412252Carry appendix, wear darkish or dark colored heavy weight cotton t-shirts, cut should be a little below the belt line but not extra long. Longer shirts actually print more, properly fitted ones offer more drape in the front. In the car you tuck the seat belt BEHIND the gun/holster. You don't have to worry about your shirt riding up without you noticing. Get a good belt, extra sturdy, those help a lot. Holsters wise I strongly suggest something with offset belt clips and a wing claw. The offset clips really reduce thickness/bulging at the belt line and are more comfortable. Foam wedges or a "Dr Scholl's mod" are great both for getting the grip to tuck in closer and increasing comfort of the muzzle is poking you. After about 12yrs of IWB carry this is the solution I've landed on, it seems to carry and conceal the best for general purposes. I recommend jm custom kydex as far as holster brands.
You should conceal my cock in your ass.
I suggest getting a small 22LR pistol. They're easy to carry, cheap to shoot, and there's a preponderance of data proving the lethality of the cartridge even from short barrels. I would not carry any firearm on my back as it too easy for others to steal. The vast majority of people will not notice your pistol even if it is only covered by a single layer. Wear larger garments or tuck your pistol lower to reduce visibility. The most convenient place to carry your pistol for sitting or squatting is on your hip or your torso. The most comfortable place to carry your pistol while driving is on your torso. You can position your pistol on your hip in such a manner that it minimally interferes with your seat and seatbelt while driving. You have to get in your car with your gun and holster and test positions out for yourself. Alternatively you can just remove the pistol and or the holster and place it in a secure location like your center console, your glove box, or between your seat and the center console. DO NOT PLACE THE PISTOL BETWEEN THE SEAT AND THE DOOR OR INSIDE THE DOOR. Others may reach your pistol and it may fall out of your vehicle. Do not place the pistol under the seat, on the floor, or on the passenger seat as the movement of the vehicle will cause the pistol to change positions while the vehicle is in motion. You can carry a pistol concealed on your torso in either a shoulder holster covered by a garment or in a pocket inside the garment. Some clothing manufacturers make clothes with robust pockets designed to hold full sized pistols.
>>64413064>appendix carry convenient enough for sitting and drivingDepends on how fat you are and how big the gun is. You will probably find your medium sized gun to be a little too big for it to be comfortable, but something the size of a Shield Plus would be no problem if you are in the "healthy" BMI range.>Or are there other optionsShoulder holster and crossdraw have always been considered the most comfortable for sitting. When I'm road tripping, I carry OWB crossdraw and it's quite pleasant.
>>64412252I bought a gun for the coolness factor, but now that it's in my hand, I'm beginning to think 17" is a bit too long to conceal. It keeps dragging my pants down. I may need to off-body it.
>>64412252I drive a lot for work, carry a ruger sp101, and have settled on a shoulder holster under a vest, overshirt, or jacket depending on the weather. It's just the most comfortable and convenient option. When it's extremely hot out I'll use a kydex iwb and 4-o'clock carry, but it's uncomfortable on long drives.
>>64412252Pocket carry or get over printing. It's gonna print under some circumstances. In the car you just leave it on your hip/in pocket, straighten out to draw if you need to.
>>64413508>I suggest getting a small 22LR pistol.Stopped reading right there. Carry a 45 or you’ll be killed in the streets.
>>64412252you might want to get a smaller handgun like a bodyguard or a g42/g43, or even a p32. don't listen to this faggot >>64413508 rimfire cartridges are less reliable than centerfire and .22lr has very marginal penetration. will it kill someone if you shoot them enough times or get lucky? yes, but there's no need to use something that's just barely adequate. don't go smaller than .32 acp. if you do go smaller than .32 acp then get a .25 acp, not a .22
>>64421629if you're so confident 22LR wont even go off or if it does it will only have >marginal penetration shoot yourself with it and prove it this is photo of the effectiveness of 22LR out of a snub nose pistol>4 hits>4 immediate incapacitationsSo shoot yourself with a 22LR, just one time. Hell. Shoot yourself with a 22 Short. prove what you say boy.
