What are your thoughts and experiences with plastic/3d printed knuckle dusters and their variants?
>>64412307I have every reason to believe they're trash that would just break and harm the user's hand.I was given some old knuckledusters made of steel from a friend, tried them out on a heavy boxing bag.Your average 3D printed plastic isn't strong enough to handle that kind of force, I can promise you that.Aside from being highly illegal to carry in public in 90% of the world, knuckledusters are kinda shit for self-defense.Takes to long to actually put them on and it's easy to fuck up the process. So knuckledusters are better suited as offensive weapons, but knives are better in that role. So knuckledusters are pretty pointless in general.
>>64412307the rings are too thinwould you make a hammer out of thin plastic? probably not
>>64412326Too many words. Plastic hit face, funny.
>>64412307add one more step and do lost PLA casting with aluminum
>>64412307Use brass knuckles is more of a whipping motion that a punch.
>>64412307Do do 3D prints for anything more than a spork or figurine. Make a mold and pour, or cut pre-made sheets of plastic. I have a pair of knuckles that's pretty flat and made of plastic, very good for pocket carry and doesn't set off detectors. They're good and solid. It's gotta be tough plastic so 3D printshit is no go.
>>64415624>Do doLol, don't do
>>64415566Yes anon, plastic hit face funny.>>64412307Use a brick, a lot less likely to get you arrested.
>Use gun to shoot metal projectiles of deathAll good man!>Use regular knife to stab someone Also all good!>Use pieces of metal with holes to punch someoneNOT COOL MAN, YOU NEED TO BE HANGED!>Use regular knife except it has a button (deploys at the same speed by the way)STOP THAT'S EVIL!>Use knife that shoots one (1) metal blade at someoneAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAI just want to enjoy carrying brass knuckles with my SAA in peace...
>>64412307I don't think it would survive more than one punch.
>>64416070You can print out of carbon fiber
>>64415614We had a whole ass thread on this and that's basically because people use novelty knuckles and cope
>>64412307I thought I read plastic knuckles were extra illegal in some state
>>64416073Carbon fiber makes prints weaker
>>64416041based brick poster
>>64412326>Takes to long to actually put them on and it's easy to fuck up the process.Personally, I don't have any problems with that.
>>64412326>>64417475
If you are already 3D printing shit, why not make that thing in such a fashion that it fits your hand better?
>>64415624>Do do 3D prints for anything more than a spork or figurineuh-huh
>>64412326>fuck up the process>the processof putting your fingers through holes? how do you fuck that up?are you actually retarded?
Design it without the finger breaking mechanism and make the palm fatter, then sell it for a MILLION DALLERS
Unless you actually know how to box don’t bother. Just because you have them doesn’t mean you automatically mean you can gauge your distance and be accurate with your punches all while having to defend in a shitty and possibly environment with awful footing/traction. If you have knuckles and still get your ass kicked you just gave someone the green light to kill you if they want (and they probably will want to). They are considered deadly weapons in most states, even wear they are legal like here in Texas>t.Muay Thai for years and keep brass knuckles in my pocket when I’m filling at the gas station at night
>>64412307Vastly inferior to the deadly spaghetti noodle
>>64412307knuckles are so illegal you might as well just illegally carry a pistol.
>>64416073CHOPPED carbon fiber (unless you happen to own a very specialized printer). It's sort of like claiming wood filament is the same as real woof
>>64417475>>64417492See and raise.
>>64415593This is the way.
>>64412307ABS + GF would be good to print with. PA as well.
>>64416063The issue legislators have with switchblades and brass knuckles is that they're VERY easy to conceal in normal clothing.
>>64425628Their issue is movie driven popular panic.
>>64425628You know what else is very easy to conceal in normal clothing? A lot of guns and regular knives which are either better or just as effective as the banned stuff. :-D
>>64419113Let's run through this algebraically.Let's define X as the number of positive outcomes, and let's define Y as the total number of outcomes. You can put it on correctly. (1)Now let's go through the negative outcomesYou can only put three fingers in the holes. (1)You can only put two fingers in the holes. (2)You can only put one finger in the hole(s). (3)You put all four fingers in the holes, but two of your fingers are in the wrong holes. (4)You put all four fingers in the holes, but all four fingers are in the wrong holes. (5)You put all four fingers in the holes, but you only wrap them around the first knuckle. (6)You put all four fingers in the holes but you wrap them around the first bone of your fingers (too deep). (7)You put all four fingers in the holes but one of those fingers is your thumb. (8)You put all four fingers in the holes but you hold it upside down. (9)In conclusion, X is equal to 1 while Y (X + the number of negative outcomes) is equal to ten, meaning that the probability of correctly wielding a knuckle duster is defined as X over Y, which is equal to 1 over 10, which is equal to 0.10.Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk
When I googled it for Cali years ago metal knuckles and composite or nonmetal knuckles are banned under different laws. The wording seemed to indicate that if you made them yourself you could own nonmetal knuckles, where as its a felony to cast brass knuckles yourself and leave them in your closet.I was tempted to make some out of a ultra hardwood or some dense plastic but it wasn't something that had been tested in court and if a cop ever caught you with one you'd surely get charged with a felony and need a lengthy legal defense.Better to carry a 6" cold steel folder which is legal
>>64412307Those are in the same category as full auto weapons and grenades in my country, I would get in less trouble using my gun...
>>64412307
>>64412326First post retarded post. > Your average 3D printed plastic isn't strong enough to handle that kind of force, I can promise you that. You’d be wrong but ok. It’ll handle a fight but maybe not 10. >break you handEven if they break how do they make it worse to you than a normal punch>im too dumb to slip my fingers through the holesI’m going to guess you are extremely fat and that’s your issue. Which explains being dumb also.
>>64415624Sure whatever you say
>>64416063I don’t think there should be restrictions on any weapon, but I can at least understand some logic on brass knuckles. They have lethal capability but aren’t really “that lethal”, but it’s pretty easy to turn someone into a potato with them. The user isn’t going to think it’s “that bad” because they are “only punching” them. You don’t think that with say a hammer. On the defensive side, yeah it’s way better than only using your firsts. But this is America, just shoot them. A pocket knife is also far more effective while being a handy tool also. Knuckledusters don’t give you reach advantage either that a collapsible baton or something else would. It’s kind of the worst of all options in that it’s not an immediate stopper, doesn’t give you any reach gain, and is semi-lethal. They were banned for those reasons but I’m ok with them not being common. Either step up to a real weapon or stick to being unarmed.
>>64425628No their issue is they’re fucking retarded and buy into hollywood as real life. How is a switchblade easier to conceal than a different pocket knife of the same blade length?
>>64433943zigger crutches were actually guns all along! You can also throw it after your fire your one bullet.
>>64428642Thanks chatgpt
