To the extent an LPVO has any point, it's to be a good etched reticle 1x that can also take you further than a fixed mag if you need to once in awhile. I think the only place it really might make sense is a battle rifle. If you are primarily doing 1x and just a bit more sometimes you'll save a lot of weight with a dot or holo and flipmag.

>>64419325I want to hate this but it's so true. You're better spending the money on ammo to train instinctual shooting. I never *needed* to use an optic when playing army with simunition. You can pretty easily make hallway length shots instinctually with a rifle. Unless your mission is clearing a massive palace so you need a fast optic for 25-100m shots, followed by defending that palace making 300m+ shots (lpvo) there's no reason to have both. I'm comfy making shots up to 400m reliably with a red dot, magnification obviously helps with confidence and shot placement but if you're making 400m shots you aren't really concerned with where you hit the man sized target imo.Maybe I'm crazy but min-maxing doesn't seem applicable unless we're talking sports shooting- in which case I've always preferred piggyback because it just felt more natural.
