I really want something with lume. like I want lume that can get me killed for backlighting me at night. so far the timex indiglo seems like the best choice.Quartz vs automatics vs mechanicals

>>64426487the w800h is the real casio kingits a f91w but built better
>>64426451quartz>>>everything else>>64426487easily my most worn watch, love that lil nigga like you wouldn't believe
>>64426536Only if it's solar quartz.
Don't spend a bunch on a watch. Just get a garmin instinct for a smart or a casio quartz if you want a dumb and be done with it.
>>64426451Whatever you like. If you care about the opinion of a bunch of neckbeards online and let it dictate your purchases you're more gay than faggots
>>64426563I have zero interest in a smart watch. I have no idea what I would use it for other than gps maybe. everyone at work uses them to text and reply since we cant have our phones out. other than that ive never really seen the appeal of a smart watch.pedometer and gps and heart rate monitor are cool features I guess.
>>64426970>pedometerFor you it would be off the charts.I understand your reluctance kek
Seamaster
>>64426451Seiko 5 flieger
>>64426518handy to know what year it is when you're in the field
>>64426970My Instinct 2 can tell altitude while hiking and oxygen in blood level. I've also seen people using the companion app to get info about acclimatization to altitude washed on these two things which was cool. I haven't figured out how to enable it on mine though. It also can work in "tactical" mode that lets you read it in nods without lighting up like a Christmas tree.
I used to wear a G-shock but now I've been wearing an old Soviet made Vostok Amphibian. Its kind of annoying to set the time on but over all I enjoy wearing it and it looks decent (does need a new crystal and band but thats later down the line)
>>64427304I also wear a Citizen U680 when I want something a bit more reliable and easier to read. Next on the list is a Sekio 5 with the Arabic dial (I liked the WOE article) then a used Breitling
Skinny watch for my baby-tier wrists
What's the census on those watches KS released?
>>64427394I've reached my "spend money on shit i dont need" quota for the year or I'd have bought one just because they look Neat
>>64427208man the stainless steel one looks dope
For you, it doesn't matter because not one person ever sets their watch properly (to LST, i.e. solar time) but instead chooses to set it to the same time as their time zone.If the sun isn't at its highest position when your watch reads 12:00 and at its lowest position when it reads 24:00 (or 00:00) relative to your position on earth, you are retarded and should not be wearing a watch because the truth is clearly not important to you.
>>64426970>I have no idea what I would use it forHarvesting shitloads of data about you, most especially location and biological, the better to market goods and services to you.Whether that delights you or makes you sick to your stomach will depend on you general feelings about consumer privacy, and the ever-present threat of the government getting access to that info.
>>64427414>If the sun isn't at its highest position when your watch reads 12:00 and at its lowest position when it reads 24:00 (or 00:00) relative to your position on earthhow do YOU accomplish this?
>>64427382>dat money

>>64427116 Nice
>>64427394Picked one up because I was in the market for such a thing. I had wanted a soviet watch, but couldn't find one I really liked when I was in the eastern bloc, and I doubt I'll ever get to go back again. It comes in a nice metal tin with a generic cheapo chinese band. My hairy wrists find those things uncomfortable so I put it on a NATO strap instead (ironic. also, tan was all I had but I imagine it would look much better with a dark red or brown one).Function wise, it's nothing special. It's a basic digital watch but in Russian, just as advertised. Biggest criticism I have is that the Bandit Radio song is a bit slow compared to the others.I say if you're interested, get one on Black Friday. For a novelty, it's cheap enough.
>>64427529You set your watch to local solar time.
>>64427702Thanks man, I do actually need a watch so I will consider that
>>64427728and what happens when you move from the spot where you set it? how do you accurately determine solar noon?how do you account for a constantly changing length of day? and noon?

Timex Expedition is /k/ approved
sometimes it's about matching your watch to your gun
Been rocking this Alpina Alpiner 4 for a few years. It's a little worse for wear, but it's accurate and reliable.

>>64428870Been thinking about getting one of those but I don't think I'd actually wear it. Well I'm not wearing watches now. Kid me would have thought it was. Cool. Had one of the calculator casinos.
Timex IronmanHeavy GWOT vibes
>>64426451>inb4 thread gets moved to /fa/ and dies a homosexual death
>>64428730A better and more recent picture. I like it because I'm a bong submariner. It's got the Russian crest on the back plate as well. In good Russian style, it gains a months or so each day, so not particularly accurate, and it's mechanical wind up (non automatic), but I think it's cool.
>>64428919Here's the ironman's indiglo next to my 5610's backlight, much more subtle, but still very legible 5610's backlight is washing out the numbers in the photo it's so bright, don't think you can adjust brightness either5610 is of course going to be more accurate because of the radio synchronization
>>64428919I too have a Timex Ironman as my everyday beater watch. It just werks
>>64426451I have a timex indiglo it sucks even for the price. Running a ratio RTA100 now, it's nice. Doesn't have to be super accurate I'm a tradesman so I'm allowed to turn up late
>>64427773Wow that's the exact watch my Ratio is ripping off lmao
>>64426970I have a garmin fenix 6 sapphire and if you do innawoods at all, it's a nice thing to have just in case. Granted, I haven't had much use for it thus far since I also have a dedicated gps, but it's really reincouraging to know that I always have gps and topographic maps on me just in case. The pedometer, sunset/sunrise and other miscallaneous features are quite handy too.It could also be used to pay with in case you lose your phone and wallet, if you want to enable that functionality, but I haven't because of concerns listed by >>64427498. As far as Garmin knows, I'm Ms. Fucking Nigger with a primary residence in Malmö, Sweden.
>>64426451What's the declared rival of G-Shock in terms of durability/resistance, bros? A watch I can really bust the shit out with no remorse?
>>64426451This is an Ollech & Wajs on a French Navy strap that's my general daily wear. If I know I'm really gonna be in an awful environment out in the field or deployed somewhere then I'll wear my boot camp F-91W that's still trucking along after 11 years. Fucker just won't die, it's still on the original battery and everything, the only thing I've had to replace was a busted strap.
>>64426518It's a great watch, and it has a LED that lights up the screen so you can actually read it at night
>>64427414why? no one gives time in solar time, they use the local timezone. having to convert every single time that people give you is a pain in the ass.
>>64430832>no one gives time in solar timeYes, and that won't change as long as no one is willing to make the sacrifice. Surely technology should have solved this issue, right? But it won't because no one cares.
>>64427414Lol that time is over an hour off my timezone time, no fucking way I'm using that. The number assigned to the time of day at peak sun is a lot less important than everybody using the same time across the board.
>>64430916everybody could be using the same time, which would also be the correct time, if they wanted to.be the change, anon.
I like my Casio A168, remembering my grandpa's gold plated watch it corroded heavily after the plating was breached, not sure where it ended up but it definitely went through a few bandsAlso buy the good matches because the government thinks you're a retard not worth trusting,
GW5000U-1 is king. Piss all over my horse tits.
>>64432511The model with the negative display is nice.
>>64428919ironman is the NFL watch not GWOT
I use a galaxy smart watch because workout tracker. Otherwise I wouldn't use a watch at all.
>>64428919fragile as hell. I dropped it once on the carpet and the indiglo immediately stopped working. casios are much better
I like blue watches.
I generally never wear one, but I have this for special occasions
>>64428870yea, i use this, too. on a 22mm OD nato strap and i got a metal case for it.
>>64433364Are you a sentient tortilla or something?
>>64433559Looks like just the average American to me.
>>64434257its clearly a watch around a burrito. human skin doesn't do that
>>64433364you should see a doctor dude...
Wearing it every day for about 6 or 7 years now.
>>64428929Nice to see someone else wearing a slav watch in here.
I wore the F-91W until I bought this G-Shock. I was going to buy a Garmin Fenix but then I saw the price. lol
>>64434895I used to wear a f91w too until I got this G-shock. What made you choose that particular G-Shock
>>64434907I stumbled upon a picture of a custom-painted one that was like $700 or something and I was like that looks really cool but I'm not paying that much for a Casio lmao, but then I saw the original design of the watch and I was like oh hey that still looks cool and it was only $80.
>>64434907if G shocks werent so fuck huge I'd get onebut now Im thinking a nice hamilton field watch is the way to go
>>64427304Based cool looking beater, also cccp so the real thing, nice.
>>64434491>Nice to see someone else wearing a slav watch in here.
>>64435092>if G shocks werent so fuck huge I'd get oneI have the exact same 2100 series Casio as in >>64434895 (even the same color scheme, although I kinda regret it because the neon colors are very muted) and they're the size of a regular watch. Just steer clear of the big ass models. The F-91W is tiny.
>>64435276whats the case mm?
>>64435120>Dindu DesignBased chinks
>>64432955Based, I use my phone to check the time
>>>>64426487Love my f91w. had mine since 2020 and its lasted my entire EMS career thus far
I want one of these.
>>64426451i like my GSAR but i never wore it on dutyalways either my G-SHOCK or f91-wthat G-SHOCK survived unimaginable abuse, from swimming to a war zone
>>64428870the shell of it doesn't feel very sturdy i don't know how about you, but i wouldn't take it as a duty watch but i have it laying around with a metal case but i lost one if the screws disassembling it so it's waiting till i care enough
>>64433364classic >>64428929i like how soviet watches lookbut afaik they're very inaccurate for what they are
>>64435866outta the box the thing is all plastic but yeah theres metal cases sold on aliexpress for some extra sturdinessitrs already got some scratches on the glass since its essentially plastic but its also a cheap watch though so if it does end up breakin youre not out a lot of money
>>64427622The GOAT, the original, the eternal, the perfect G-shock. I'll get this exact watch as a gift for my great great grandson in the year 2100, when it will still be produced and sold in large numbers.
Way back in the eighties, when I was just a wee lad, I saw my first episode of the Knight Rider on TV. And obviously it blew my young mind. A talking car? Cool adventurer dude with a black leather jacket who punches bad guys and gets all the chicks? Oh hell yeah! And that hero guy had this digital watch that had a radio in it so he could talk to his awesome supercar even when he didn't see it. That was my very first introduction to the digital watches. I had not seen one before, as all of our clocks had so far been analog ones with a round face. (well, technically I did have one of those nintendo game-and-watch electronic games, but I never paid attention to the watch part, I just played the game - It was "Fire Attack" btw). It was a new and exciting concept, that only clicked in once I saw the Knight Rider. So of course I HAD to have one! A digital watch, just like that cool dude in the TV!And I then kept begging my dad to get me one for several weeks until he got sick of me yammering about it and said "Fine! Let's get you a digital watch!"So we went to a local electronics store, and he bought me... A Casio Terrorist watch. Yup, the very first wrist watch I ever had was a Casio Terrorist watch. And I loved it! It even had a little light so you could tell time in dark! It had an alarm function and a calendar too! It was amazing! Future was here! That's why Casio terrorist watch has a special place in my heart. Not only it's a solid, waterproof watch, it also takes me back to those youthful times, when every day was a new adventure.Oh, and then I saw that other show. The one with a smart guy who had a swiss army knife. Guess who had to have one of those as well.
>>64426563I got a garmin instinct 1 and the heart rate monitor absolutely shat the bed. It claims my heart rate is 20 beats lower than it should be (tested against multiple other devices), but only above 120.
>>64435385The 2100? 40 mm dial, 11 mm thick, 46 mm lug-to-lug, so very similar to a regular men's dress watch. Might be a little harder to get it out from under a shirt cuff, because the case is resin.
>>64435600
>>64436720make sure to get the Japanese made one, not the ones made in lesser asian countries.
>>64428864Based
>>64432193is that the crafterblue strap? that thing was awful, I went back to the OEM strap
>>64427384>F-84WDamn, wasn't expecting to see one of those here. Watch nerd or old man anon?
>>64435860You can fill in the bezel markers with glow in the dark paint.
>>64439455meh i don't like the arrow eveni only like the tritium, which is why i bought it it's not like i dive with it even though i have recreational diving certification
>>64427382I have no idea what that watch is trying to convey
Imma get me a core because im monkey brained
>>64440128Wouldn't really say its trying to convey anything? I view it as a tool and use it as much. The only thing I guess I try to convey with it is that I'm at least a little "in the know" by not wearing an apple watch like the rest of peers (kinda gay mindset though)
>>64426487Having a bunch of cheap Casio watches to hand out to people as gifts like Santa Claus is actually a survival pro-tip. You wanna make friends with the local homeless guys in a SHTF situation so they'll kick some other guy's ass if he's messing with you. Also those cheap LED flashlights you can get at the Homo Depot. Get a box of those and then a bundle of Casios and you can make frens, and survive, and thrive.
>>64440139>stealth>looks like it glows in the dark
>>64439618Well, you could replace the bezel on it in that case.https://youtu.be/mJsylTz9qeU

I APPROVE OF THIS TIMEPIECE
>>64433205https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68ugkg9RePc
>>64427622i prefer the dark displayit has a longer battery lifeand when im looking for the timenobody else can
>>64440471The best bang for your buck watch brand is literally Seiko for automatic watches and Casio for digital. The quality of Seiko for the price can't really be overstated (beside some of their presage line)I wish I could affort a Grand Seiko.
>>64441067
>>64441073
>DW-5600BCE-1the strap is very comfyi replaced the retaining bands on mine with aftermarket ones though, the default actually suck imho (its perfect for me now)
>>64440334neat but i probably won't do it
>>64440345watch called U boat says it's good to 60feet.WAT.
>>64441066>it has a longer battery lifehow? are there differences other than the display?
>>64435860Uncommon opinion; I don't like the f91w with a NATO strap, I prefer the factory resin strap
>>64441238that's a temperature range, they're good to 50m depth
>>64441067>(beside some of their presage line)the best seiko I own is the presage champagne cocktail time watch
>>64440788I really like that one.I wish luminox werent so fucking huge also. Why are all the watches with bright lume so fucking huge? make a 38mm with good lume.
>>64441890Oh that's cool, 50m isn't that deep still. I mean it's past what your basic scuba diver will go roughly 120 feet and I don't mean to knock it, just kinda found the irony funny. It's a cool watch. FWIW my Scuba watch is an orange monster. I'm building a repo Yellow currently off a dead black..... black monster. god damnit it doesn't sound any better.>>64441957Gosh she's pretty. Love Seikos have a green Alpinist on a brown leather strap.
>>64441971oh nice, that sounds pretty neatI've never gotten into watch modding myself but that feels like something that could be fun to get into

Wouldn't gunpowder residue fuck up the watch?
>>64442482any decent watch is sealed
Looks like a big G-Shock, has better module than an entrance G-Shock, but its not a G-Shock.>>64439609Have one. Minimalist and no lame engravings. But the negative display is very bad to read. Will swap to positive.>>64441086Casio with this retard 16mm pin, forcing you to buy an adapter, is fucking stupid. A 18-22mm pin would solve this shit.In essence, I like G-Shocks - cheap and durable, but today I see a lot of (unnecessary) small issues with the entrance line models:- Small buttons.- Adjust button sucks - switch to normal.- Screen x bezel ratio is bad. Casio AE series are fucking huge and clean to read.- 16mm pin sucks, ask for adapter.- Metal buckle with... plastic strap. Come on.
