Sweden receives their first Gripen E fighters this week. I would have thought they had a number of them by now, but it turns out they're just now getting them and there's been less than a dozen Gripen E/Fs delivered in total.

>The first Gripen E was rolled out on 18 May 2016.
Why'd it take them 9 years from rollout to get what is especially a mildly updated version of the C/D into service?
>>
>>64426943
What's the tactical difference between the E and F besides the extra crewmember?

There're more differences between a Gripen NG and the old Gripen than between a Hornet and a Super Hornet...
>>
>>64427008
It didn't
Brazil have had them in service since 2022
This is just the first operational squadron in Sweden with production aircraft, after operating the three test and evaluation aircraft for a number of years

NTA, but the Wikipedia page is a bit shit. Can you tell me the major ones?

every airframe you mentioned is prison gay

Things like the SH vs H: Larger airframe, new engine (both F404 to F414) that results in considerably longer legs and payload.
The difference is the expansion and modernization of the integrated avionics, it adds IRST, replaces the PESA with AESA radar of a different company, besides the improvement in the rest like the EW suite that the original Gripen received some years afters being in service.
The Hornet to Super Hornet transition was more gradual and only the Block II got a new radar (AESA), the rest was similar if the same pods are used, besides the size advantage of the SH.

That is the old Gripen, the NG has differences, especially if the country using them wants more localization.

>Erm uh erm why are you talking about a country receiving fighter jets on the weapons board?

I feel like that and the engine are the two headline changes, no?

>2025
LMAO literally lighting money on fire. Just buy F35s for cheaper and then jump in to one of European 6th gen programs. Sweden is never going to independently develop a next gen aircraft by itself especially now that it has "allies."

>f-35
useless if you want to sell to another countries.
You have a negative IQ, your simple presence decreases the IQ of anyone in the same room.

This its all i want
>>
>>64427025
None. It's mainly just an operational conversion trainer for new customers of Gripen E
Brazil are the only ones actually ordering it in reasonable numbers
Thailand ordered one, but will probably just use their existing Gripen Ds otherwise.

are you retarded?

no i dont think we will

Maybe you don't understand this, but hey, there're more countries than the US, surprising amirite?
>>

and I'm sure you're retarded if you think the f35 is not the most sellable aircraft right now

They 100% will be. This is just an old yeller situation with SAAB not being given the budget to develop or participate in a 5th or 6th Gen project yet has too many employees to kill off.

It's 100% over and no cope will change that fact.
>>
>>64430259
Replace SAAB for INTL and you might be right.
