It’s already in the works

and do you think it will become the main way of aiming weapons or a niche method for close quarters?

You mean a Shadowrun smartlink aiming system. They came up with it in the 80s, and babies first fps copied it decades later.
>>
>>64427112
we already have focus adjustable AR lasers

IR*

would a laser only ar build work fine? i wonder. you could hose the larpers down while running full sprint while they try to keep up with their overpriced lpvo's kek

you can adjust the thickness of your IR light to the exact MOA of your rifle now
the only real financial barrier is IR nods but even that is getting cheaper with the advancement of digital IR nods

but if laser/halo aiming existed and was for daytime use (not only for nvg use), would it be better than a scope or sights? that's what i meant

Yes it would be better.
Especially if it's AI assisted targeting that's 100% accurate without needing to zero different ranges.

The recent Anduril EagleEye AR system impressed me if it's as good/real as they've shown in these videos.
They could easily include a real time automatic targeting system on it with AI processing all the data required for pinpoint targeting accuracy if they haven't already.
>>
>>64427948
they could slap on the targeting sensor on their PEQs
>>
>>64427112
1: Yes probably
2: You'd still have to be retarded not to have a physical backup sight on the weapon
3: Even with an actual next level superintelligence included in the smartlink you'd still be a crappy shot OP
>>
But how would it even aim it, *you're* holding the weapon and the AI doesn't control your arms, do you have to wear like an exo suit with robot arms??? This makes no fucking sense
>>
>>64427112
You always need sights so you can aim at things the aimbot can't.
>see guy run behind sheet metal fence
>aimbot can't do shit
>I can guess where he is and hammer the fence
>>
>>64427931
>>64427948
Hate to break it to you but the Anduril video is a fake mockup promotion video to sell the idea of it
They don't actually have it working yet
>>

based
zoomers and their joypad trash are unbearable
>>
>>64429116
>>64429121
It's not an aimbot. It just shows you exactly where you're aiming on an HMD. You still have to move your own arms.
>>
>>64429223
So you want a laser only you can see?
>>
>>64429265
yes. intuitive aiming without detectable emissions
>>
>>64429193
Anduril's company policy is to never post anything on camera they don't have working. So what's your source for this baseless claim?
>>
I don't know what a Halo smartlink is. I have only played Halo 1, and I don't remember it.
>>
>>64429938
>durrrr i dont know things, im clueless and ignorant!!!
why even make this post? whats the point? you want a round of applause?
>>
>>64427112
So...basically just a laser sight the enemy can't see?
>>
Yes but the tech is like two hundred years out. They're already ditching Microsharts HUD headset.
>>
>>64429936
(NTA) i find it hard to believe that they would put in transparency and fade in/out animations on a rugged military hardware. It's wasted processing power and distracting too.
>>
>>64429938
the floating reticle. They use that instead of sights.
>>
>>64430005
yes. would it be a better way of aiming than sights?
>>
>>64430132
That's exactly why I believe they would put it in. Remember touchscreen controls on ships?
>>
>>64429197
>Halo is a zoomer game
Fucking posers holy shit
>>
>>64429197
halo? zoomer game? halo is older than 85% of zoomers. kys.
>>
>>64431842
explain
>>
The processing speed and frames per second need to be really high to not slow a highly skilled operator.
I also see a weakness in seeing the digital reticle over some targets while with an actual weapon sight you can always see where it is aiming even when you cannot see the target well. Sometimes with explosions, fire burning, muzzle flashes etc you need to just quickly send rounds around where you last saw the target, and lining up a sight would seem easier than finding the hud.

The demonstrations seem to have very slow movement to not get ahead of the hardware capabilities.

Imagine trying to finely navigate a flat screen with no tactile feedback while getting tossed around by the ocean.
Worse than trying to change the radio on a car while driving 80mph using a flat screen instead of a knob or button you can get familiar with and use without even looking.
Flat screens were a step backwards for controls in a vehicle.
Quick open the sub menu of the sub menu and change some ship settings while having trouble standing before something catastrophic happens. Oh no now you have cracked the screen.
Unfortunately the entire expensive module must be swapped out instead of just a cheap button knob or switch.

They have consumer aircraft with this retardation now too instead of a proper yoke. Imagine some turbulence and G forces while going down and trying to use some flat screen an executive sitting at a nonmoving desk thought would be like using their office computer.

So, in Halo lore, the reticle on screen isn’t just a game feature, but an actual feature of military technology in-universe. The guns transmit data to the soldier’s HUD, which projects a reticle in their field of view indicating where their shots will go. Therefore, they don’t have to mess with sights and optics like modern grunts do.
